Yes. I reviewed the place in late summer 2014. And it has improved since! About two months ago, I returned to this coffee shop to find that much needed staffing changes had taken place. The service was friendlier. The staff was more knowledgeable and had much greater expertise. And, you know, they actually had brewed coffee to sell. No kidding, on four occasions last year I managed to come in at least 30 minutes before close to order a regular drip coffee – only to be told that they did not have any! What??? Anyway, those problems seem to be behind the place as a turnover in staff has yielded a better result. Good job, guys!

It’s no secret that I love coffee! Good coffee. Taste and See has good coffee. Homemade syrups are a huge plus. I also like coffee shops in general, and this one has plenty of seating and outlets available in close proximity to most chairs. Their hours are a little wonky, closed on Sunday like many places here. Liquid gold(caramel & honey-vanilla) and the seasonal flavors(think PSL) are my favorite latte varieties so far. The white mocha is good, but don’t get it as an iced drink since they use actual white chocolate shavings and well, science. Tea is Rishi loose leaf and their chai latte and iced chai with honey-vanilla is perfect to me! The bacon cheddar scone has been my go to bakery item. Ask for it warm. I’ve also tried the oatmeal and a couple of muffins, which weren’t really my thing but may be yours. There is a loyalty tree app you can use to earn points and whatnot. I still need to download it, but be ahead of the game and do that for free stuffs.

Awesome people. The coffee is probably the best in Macon– They use counter culture and they do a really good job with it. There are nooks to sit in and plenty of spaces to spread out. If you plan to stay for a while you may want to bring a jacket/sweater… I’ve been in a few times and it’s always been cold. Oh! Have a chocolate chip cookie. They’re yummy.

Taste and See has the best tasting and healthiest coffee drinks and smoothies in Macon. They offer almond milk and soy milk as well as regular, their make their syrups from scratch, and their smoothies are nothing more than a delicious concoction of fruit, milk of choice, raw sugar, and raw honey. Their pastries are a little hit-or-miss; they’re usually very good, but occasionally a little dry. They offer a lot of other healthy options, but also the usual assortment of scones, coffee cakes, cheesecakes, etc. The atmosphere is unusual; it’s a northwestern vibe in a small Southern town. It’s evocative of grand forests and majestic mountains, but also has a cozy feel with its leather couches and fireplace. It’s a great place to hang out with friends. It can sometimes be loud on Friday or Saturday nights, and the live music is usually in the«Christian rock/folk/indie/praise» genres, so if that’s not your thing or you want to talk, I recommend calling to see what’s on the schedule. You can also reserve the private room, if it’s available, for no charge. Definitely check it out. It’s evangelical Christian theme is quite obvious, but regardless of your religious preferences, it’s really still all about the coffee, and the coffee is certainly worth it. The only real change I’d recommend that they make is extending their hours. I have since moved away, but when I was in Macon my friends and I always stayed until closing and then stood in the street and talked for a good hour. If they stayed open an extra hour at night, I’m sure they’d have good business.

I popped in with a friend while strolling around Macon before a friend’s wedding. My take? Better than average independent café(organic coffee!) with various hidey-hole work spaces for settling in with a laptop. Lots of large inspirational prints of nature photographs, apparently all photos taken by the owner, who grew up in Colorado and was«called to open a Christian coffee shop in Georgia.» Taste and See fits the Christian coffeeshop genre to a T, complete with a box for prayer cards, a gratitude journal, devotional books, and even a small chapel room at the the back. I had a traditional cappuccino, and my friend bought a greeting card with a photo of the grand canyon. All in all, A-OK.

The coffee is exceptional, the baked goods are usually good and the people are always super nice. It’s the only good coffee in downtown Macon. It’s not open Saturday evenings or Sundays. The atmosphere is terrible. Jesus music blaring in the background and sometimes even a live musician playing Christian music for tips. That said– get your great coffee drink to go– and it’s a winner!
