I love Italian food, like REALLY love it. Sadly, Buca falls short. I have been here twice and tried to love it, but can’t. There are just too many other outstanding Italian places. The pasta is dry, tasteless and sticky… like cardboard. Cheese gets clumpy and isn’t «cheesy.» Sauce and meat were good. I found myself picking around the pasta and just eating the meat. Since it’s a chain restaurant, I don’t blame the chefs. I’m pretty sure everything comes prepackaged and from cans to make service quick. Our server was amazing though and kept our bread full and poured up his concoction of oil and spices. He added some Parmesan cheese to it and made it that much better! I honestly enjoyed the bread and oil mixture better than our entrée. Prices are decent for it to be family style. Keep that in mind while looking through the menu: the prices are set for your party to share, so if you’re looking to have separate entrees, Buca isn’t the place! It’s great if your on date night and don’t mind sharing. Sangria is delicious. Atmosphere is intimate though don’t let that deter you, you can easily wear flip flops and jeans without a second glance. Overall, Buca di Beppo is «okay» and is the best choice if you want to feed a lot of people since they have family pricing. If you’re looking for some real Italian food, avoid Buca and go elsewhere.

Blah blah, this place really went down hill. Service was super slow and food came out Cold. We ordered a chicken and sausage dish and could not tell what was chicken vs sausage. The bread that came to the table was stale and cold. They gave us a small chunk that would only feed about one skinny person. It’s kinda of hard to mess up pasta and some sauce but they did. For 20 $+ for a dish no reason the food should taste like it comes from a can. The water was good

Overall just not impressed. Had a large party of 11 with 3 families, mix of adults and kids. Staff slow to acknowledge presence when we entered, not very friendly. Place was totally empty. Took a while to be seated. One of the hostess was on her cell phone, and ignored us, very rude. Food portions are strange and overpriced. A salad for 2 could easily feed 4 – 5 people and it was $ 16. Food was average, lukewarm when received. One in our party ordered veal parmigiana and it did not come with pasta noodles. For $ 28 they thought it was a joke. Waitress wouldn’t accept a coupon for one of our parties. Considering we had 3 separate families in our party, we thought that was very odd. Took forever to get check. No plans to eat here again anytime soon.

I really feel like this place is hit or miss. I’ve been before for lunch and the food and service were both great. Other times the food has been more mediocre. Portions are huge and they have lots of menu options. Definitely save room for a cannoli or the tiramisu — both are delicious!

The food was awesome! Its served family style so you share the food. When you first look at the menu don’t leave… lol it looks pricey but take in account that you share the food it adds to roughly $ 10 a person. My bf and I has the small size and it was enough for us. Will be back going to bring a larger crowd. The only downside is if you and another person doesn’t like the something. One small serving will be too much for one person… but there’s always leftovers!

The food is really great here and the serving staff are always friendly! I’ve had the spaghetti with meatballs and lasagna here, neither disappointed. My only complaint is the host staff are never really friendly when you walk in. Our first time here we almost didn’t stay because everyone seemed really unhappy. Once you are seated the experience changes entirely though. I will definitely come back for more Buca.

Had the tomato bisque with chopped antipasto salad. Salad was FABULOUS as usual. But the bisque… Not so much. But I’m going to give the benefit of a doubt because… Well it is well past customary lunch time so perhaps it wasn’t as fresh as it would have been earlier. Wait staff is friendly and service is always reasonably quick. This is the only time Buca in Macon has disappointed. Will be back!

Food and service is usually great but it’s not easy for couples who have different likes because it is served family style which means big portions. Come with a group so you can share with others who have similar likes or dine at lunch when you can get individual portions. Cool décor and ambiance and good food!

I’ve been to a Buca twice in the past year. Both were very nice experiences. Stopped in here while visiting Macon during July 4th. First off, service was insanely good. Really. Our waitress was overly on top of everything. Our glasses barely reached ½ full status before they were topped off. I have never had a more sincerely«into it» waitress than during our visit. Food was good(per the usual). I say it’s halfway between Olive Garden and Carabba’s. It’s not straight off the boat Italian, but you can eat far less authentic offerings for the money. We were here for lunch, and the special was $ 5.99 for Chicken Parm on Panini, salad and soup. Not a better deal anywhere. My wife grabbed the eggplant parm, and I had the antipasto chopped salad. We left with full bellies, and having had an excellent experience. Not sure what all the bad reviews are about, but our experience here was excellent. Maybe the people who are satisfied don’t use Unilocal.Always a possibility. Good stuff.

It is the worst italian read truant I have ever been to in my entire life the food is always cold and the spaghetti is usually all stuck together on a mess service is ok they all seemed to depressed and the portions are outrageous I mean I could feed a cow with the oversized spaghetti but bite size bread it is just not worth it and way to pricey for that garbage

If you want better Italian, go to Maggiano’s in Atlanta. The food was ok, but overpriced for what you get. The large lasagna… enough for 2? I ate in one sitting, not like it was promoted«enough for leftovers to take home». I got the feeling it was food for the masses that belongs in a tourist area.

First thing’s first: this place doesn’t suck. Is it amazeballs? Will it blow your mind with culinary explosions and delight the eye with firework presentations? Well, no. What it *will* do is offer decent food at a decent price *if* you’re equipped to transport leftovers. Honestly, if you’re unable to carry leftovers with you, then the value here is lost. The way it works: each menu item is designed to feed two or more. Consequently, each item is priced to reflect that. You are served a family-style platter of goodness that you’re expected to share or carry out when you’ve had your fill. But is it good? My opinion: yes. It is every bit as good as you can expect from Carabbas, Macaroni Grill, Olive Garden, or Cheesecake Factory. As a bonus, each time I’ve been here, service has been excellent. If you can time your dinner to arrive at happy hour, score a meatball appetizer. It is quite good, as are the lemon drop martinis.

This place is getting a bit of bum rap on here. I have always enjoyed it and have been here at least 4 times now. On my last visit, we got to eat at the chef’s table in the kitchen. This was pretty cool because you get to see the behind the scenes stuff plus you can examine the kitchen for cleanness, which it is. Is this place authentico? Probably not, but then again I have never been to Italy or ate food that was prepared by an actual italian. I rate this place at the top of giant conglomerate italian restaurants. The chianti braised beef shorts ribs is probably my favorite thing on the menu.

Not feeling creating today! After walking in and seeing staff sitting looking bored them putting on the happy faces when they served us. Which granted at least they did that but seriously. Georgia really get with the customer service! The bright side of the meal was our server took charges off for my pasta and we had a great convo!

We enjoy the Sicilian style food here. It was a frequent destination when we were in California and we were happy to see it join Macon’s list of restaurants. You should expect the usual chain restaurant atmosphere including entertaining wall decorations and photos. The service is usually very good. A favorite of ours is the baked ziti. Our recent visit had a less tasty pomodoro than usual. Expect to eat your dinner for a few days as leftovers because the portions are intended for many people.

Leaving aside for a moment the discombobulation of stepping into a place where everyone is speaking faux-Italian with a southern drawl, I can’t give this place any higher than two stars for the following reasons: 1) Though we went during the first week it was open, there were constantly flies buzzing around our table throughout the meal. I don’t understand how a restaurant, which has only been open for a week, could already have amassed a fly infestation problem. I dread what the kitchen must look like. 2) The chopped antipasto salad was a joke. Low quality ingredients. Everything was«chopped» so finely that it was more like a slaw than a salad. So much dressing that it was just a soggy mess. My Italian grandmother would’ve turned in her grave at such an abomination. Sorry Nana… I won’t ever eat Italian food down south again. 3) Our entrees(the baked ziti & the lasagna) came out a mere 10 minutes after we ordered them. At first I was thinking«wow…that’s mighty efficient». Then I realized that they were cold. Not luke-warm…but room-temperature-bordering-on-cold. There’s no way that one can make a pasta dish in under 10 minutes AND have it sit out long enough to get cold. I suspected, prior to going, that this was the type of establishment that gets everything pre-made from a supplier like SYSCO and just reheats it in the microwave. The sorry state of our entrees confirmed this suspicion. 4) Everything was bland and lacked appropriate seasonings. The red sauce tasted like ketchup with garlic powder and dried oregano added to it. 5) The staff were overly attentive to the point of annoyance. They kept coming up to the table every 30 seconds to ask if they could clear off any plates. After the 6th time in less than 5 minutes that this happened, I finally snapped at one of them«will you PLEASE just let us eat in peace???» But when it came time to get the check, the opposite occurred… we had to ask for our check multiple times. After the fourth time the waiter asked us if we wanted any dessert. NO! Just bring us our damn check! Be suspect of anyone who gives this place 5 stars. They have no palette. Period.

Food was good but menu can be overwhelming and a bit confusing for first time guests. Service was incredibly slow and awkward, but that is probably because it just opened. As the servers gain experience, I think it will be fine. The Brownie dessert is enough for a small army — 12 brownies and 6 scoops of ice cream. Holy moly!
