Only had half an hour for lunch so I decided to call and order a carry-out, even though I was only 5 minutes away. I was still on hold when I walked into the restaurant. I ordered at the counter and got my order pretty quickly considering how busy they were. However, I didn’t get the fries I ordered and didn’t have time to wait for them.

Pretty much the best Coney Dog ever when they are on their game. This time I got a platter so I had 2 coneys and a cup of chili — wow! Yes, I was stuffed when I left but it was so good. Overall, their dogs snap when you bite them and it was the right mixture of ingredients. One of my dogs was perfect but the other was not — the bun was cold and it didn’t taste the same. My son had one hot and fresh, the other cold and a bit harder. My wife only had one dog and hers was cold and harder; deliver perfect buns with the perfect dog and perfect chili and you get all five stars.

The staff at this branch are always so very nice. They are also very quick. Been going to this particular one since July at least once a week and I have never had a bad meal or bad service. Of course I always order the same thing: two coneys loaded and fries. Maybe some day I will get adventurous and try something wild like breakfast.

It seems over the years«quality» has taken a backseat at this Coney establishment. Upon several occasions I’ve had less than«just okay» experiences. The food lacks taste, the waitress(both occasions) lacked«customer service» skills(which I get, its not for everyone) and everyone’s entitled to THEIR bad days but by time we got our food it was cold and my dinnerware looked a tad dirty or spotted. Needless to say I won’t be visiting this Coney in my future… The positive: location, prices, and variety of menu items.

Always a reliable place to go for a nice size breakfast, lunch or dinner. Great location. Prices are very good. Lots of windows to sit by and watch the world go zipping by as you’re enjoying a casual, inexpensive meal.

Normally better than today. Waitstaff not at all interested. Food was par. I guess everyone is entitled to a bad day.

You can never go wrong with National Coney Island. Good food consistently, something for everyone, and reasonably priced. I always get the same thing, though. Either two coneys with everything, or a gyros. And always, a baby Greek salad on the side. And it’s always good! However, on today’s visit, the hot dog buns seemed almost heading towards stale. Not a deal breaker, but. Service is always lightning fast and friendly.

Even one star is to many it would not let me put a –10 their Greek salad is the worst in Michigan and way overpriced and they give you a half of pita the chicken is a very small portion cut into little pieces

Same typical National Coney Island. Love the hani delux and a strawberry milkshake! They also have a drivethru which is great if you’re getting something on your way home or what not. Expect to wait about 5 – 10 minutes at the window it’s a little slower– maybe it’s more fresh?(Haha)

I go here for breakfast once or twice most weekends, and sometimes another day during the week. Always fast, friendly service. Consistently good food. Highly recommended

2.5 stars. It’s an ok Coney for a quick breakfast. The portions are smaller than most places I go for breakfast. The hashbrowns were tasty but the serving was the size of a deck of cards. Service was good, so no complaints there. The one thing that bugged me was my plate had something on the rim, either old egg yoke or the cook was sloppy and got something on there when he dished up my eggs, it wasn’t my yolk because my yolks were not broken.

Insects all over the place. In the food and all over the kitchen!!! Do not eat there!!! Can’t believe this place. When I complained they would not make it right! Jeff Russell is the worst manager I have ever seen!

This for some reason is the runt in chain. Despite having a drive thru. They have screwed up order 3 of last 4 times and brought it back each time. I’d prefer the one by Van Dyke, 23 + Schoenherr and Garfield but this is convient just wish they would care more about us customers.

I love National Coney Island. I’m a simple gal. I’m proud to say that I’ve eaten at every one of their locations in the metro area. This is my favorite one. It’s on the smaller side but the service and food are always really good. Most of the time our server is Nicole. She does a great job! Very personable and we’re at the point now where she knows what we’re going to order before we even sit down.

Was on my way to a day jam packed with errands & appointments. I knew I could grab a quick breakfast in a clean place. I ordered the Gyro Omelet with feta, which National does a nice job on. The server, whose name I’ve forgotten, was super efficient & even ran my to go box out to my car, which i left on the table. NOTE: this is the National Store where they always launch new items & try pilot programs. Now National at this location collects the tab/check at the table versus the line up at the cash register. I’m not sure what to make of it, as they have done it ehre for a year, & if it works it will be coming to a NCI near you

This rating is limited to comparing Coney vs. other coney style hot dog restaurants. I grew up in Michigan and this place is an absolute institution to me. Now that I have moved away, whenever I come back I always have one meal here each trip I come back. That meal is always: Two Coney’s with everything(which means, hot dog in a steamed bun, chili with no beans, white onions chopped, a line of yellow mustard), order of cheese fries and a glass of milk large enough to actually create a kidney stone before you get up from the booth. The do a surprisingly good Greek salad and gyro, but for me that is like ordering fish at a stake house, I don’t care if they do a nice job with it, order what the place is known for. This is a simple hot dog joint, you seat yourself, grab a booth, order a few dogs, which always come out fast and go tackle your day. Done. To Recap: The Good: Best Coney’s I have ever had, service is fast and friendly and the prices are fair. The Bad: Nothing for me, I couldn’t eat here everyday, but that isn’t the point. The Band This Restaurant Most Resembles: Bob Segar. A Michigan classic through and through.

Every time I visit my Family in Macomb, we stop by over here. The hot dogs are good, fries are good, everything is good here but, it can use a bit of help in the clean booths and tables department… I mean I’ve found a paper napkin with chili and cheese in the seat, not my favorite way to start a meal — by seeing what the person before had. Enough with the not so good though! The I’ve had the breakfasts here super late and they’re pretty darn tootin’! The hot dogs are good but, what makes ‘em pop is the condiments and toppings they offer on ‘em. I’d mention a chili cheese napkin… you’ll need a few napkins because the Chili Cheese Dogs are loaded with both. You’ll be able to have Chili Cheese Fries too, that’s how they load it up. Décor is diner styling and has that 50’s or so look and feel. The kitchen and prep stations are also open view which can be pretty neat if you’re one to check things out while you wait. I know for a fact we’ll end up coming here again next time I’m in town, it’s habit now and the food is A-OK! National Coney needs to keep those booths a little neater though… SYOY

Yes I ate National Coney Island twice in a 6 day vacation. I love it. This is a nice location. Our waitress was pretty good even though we wanted 5 different checks and took up the middle of the restaurant. My coney dog with mustard and onions was delicious. My chili fries were so good. Honestly if I wasn’t with four skinny 20 year olds I could have eaten a lot more food, but I held back. Too bad I have to wait another 12 months to have my favorite food of all time.

It’s not great, but it’s still very close to my heart. It’s a once or twice a year trip to this coney island. It took me 22 years to finally see that it’s no Tommy’s(CA restaurant), but it will do. It’s cheap and close to my relatives… but I do need to get downtown to the original Coney Island restaurants to see if they live up to their fame. Oh and surprisingly their greek salad is really good. Odd.
