Well stocked but high priced, especially on hardware. One of the only brew shops around that actually charges more for the Blichmann burner than the«standard» price laid out by Blichmann. I was set to buy but opted to purchase it from another retailer for the standard price. A good place for yeast and grain but you’re better off buying your brewing hardware online. Even with S&H charges, its cheaper online.

They always have what I’m looking for. Staff is helpful. Every kit/recipe of theirs I’ve tried has turned great beer. I’ve purchased many kits here, and most were fine. Exceptions: wrong recipe once, wrong hops once, and was substituted with the wrong specialty yeast once. I feel like I need to check and make sure that I have the correct stuff before I leave– even in the sealed cap n cork kits. Finding out that something is wrong after you get home sucks. Otherwise, it’s a decent store.

Basic selection of home brewing supplies & equipment. Very helpful staff. They sell some starter kits of sets of equipment at a discounted rate. I’d recommend this place for northern Macomb County & St Clair County home brewers.

Great store and knowledgable staff. Shop here often and have never had a problem with any ingredients I’ve bought. We make wine, craft beer and mead and the staff is always able to answer any questions we have.

Far and away the best home brew shop in the area. They moved a few doors down from their original location, and it was much needed. The space is much larger and the store feels so much less cluttered than it once was. They always have the yeast, grain and hops that I need, in stock and the prices are very reasonable. The staff are knowledgeable and very friendly too; very accommodating. I’ve been coming here for about ten years, and as a beginner, they were always helpful and answered all of my questions and made great recommendations. This was invaluable to my growth as a home brewer. Also, unlike another shop in the area, Cap N Cork will fill your grain order for you AND they will crush it. I’ve never had a bad experience here. Highly recommended.

I go to Cap N Cork primarily because it’s close to my house. Having said that, it’s not a bad store at all, quite the contrary. the guys are all knowledgeable and they have any kind of grain and yeast and hops you might need for your beer. The only drawback is I’m not sure they’re always very well stocked with the bigger hardware, such as kettles, mash tuns, etc… I believe other places have a bigger variety and options… but again it’s not a huge store so for the size of store I think they’re a winner =) I would recommend anybody that lives in this area to get your supplies from Cap N Cork… Otherwise go to Wine Barrel in Livonia or Adventures in Homebrewing in Taylor or Ann Arbor.

Very good brew shop. This is the first time I have been to a brew shop and the first time getting ready to brew beer, but the staff were very friendly and knowledgable. The store was organized and the prices seemed to be pretty far. They give a 10% military discount as well!

There are several things I look for when I walk into any Mom ‘n Pop type business. I want to see that the place is not a mess with items laying all over the floor. I want to at least be acknowledged with some kind of «come ask me questions if you need me and I’ll check on you periodically» type vibe. Finally, if I do have questions I want non-condescending answers. I want your legitimate opinion on things because you work here and you should probably know your products well(unless you’re jockeying the register). Cap-n-Cork is probably one of the best retail stores I have been in ever. Aside from my first time brewing, I have gone in every single time knowing what I needed. Each time I have been in each employee has greeted me as soon as I came in the store, asked me if I needed help within the first few minutes, and were more than happy to answer any questions. I ask for specific grains and within a few minutes they have them bagged up, priced, and ready to go for me while I’m looking around the store. The pricing is a little higher than a couple of the other brewing supply stores but it is generally only a dollar or two higher. Totally worth it if I can have a nice experience each time I go in.

what a nice store. after my horrible inception at brewing world in warren i was expecting something bad. there are two of the cutest old men running this store. one of them even has the curly-q mustache with wax! the store is bright and stocked to the brim. the place is actually organized, unlike brewing world. we had many questions and all were answered kindly and with much information. we were even told to buy a much cheaper version of a brew kit. this from a guy who owns a store and the more expensive brew kit was one of his own making. the prices were on average 2 – 3 dollars more than other places, but the service was worth it. so in 1 month get ready for some australian bitter beer coming from my basement! love, juston
