I so hoped to be able to love this place! Cupcakes are my favorite sweet so I was giddy when I heard about this little café a few miles down the road. I was initially disappointed to know that they did not make their own cupcakes, but was encouraged to learn that at least the sweets served were locally made. The store itself is conveniently located, clean and staffed with friendly workers. In addition to cupcakes, they offer cookies, brownies, cheesecake and ice cream, along with little knick knacks, cards, etc. as well as coffee, hot cocoa and other drinks(think the cappuccino makers at the gas station). There is also seating in-store. I’ve been here three times to pick up some cupcakes for the family. I’ve stopped in the middle of the afternoon, on a Saturday evening and during the day. For some reason, the place is never stocked well! Each time I have been, they have been out of stock of at least one of the flavors of the day. The display cabinets often look empty and unappealing. In addition, these cupcakes are average, bake at home sized cupcakes. At $ 3.00 apiece, I demand a diet breaking piece of cake! Not so much… I’ve made bigger cupcakes with more frosting in my own kitchen. That being said, each of the flavors I have tried(eight in all) have been quite tasty! Alas, after just a couple of bites, I’m left wanting for more. I love the concept of gourmet, locally made cupcakes and would gladly fork over my money to get my mini-cake fix, but this place leaves me wanting more bang for my buck.

Well after reading these terrible reviews, and the fact that it’s very close to my house, I had to stop in! As I pulled up, I noticed a plethora of nonsense outside the store… Like a whole bunch of crap on the sidewalk designed to pull you in. I already knew what this meant, and how these cupcakes were going to taste. I ordered 4 cupcakes Red Velvet x 2 Bumpy Cake German Chocolate Red Velvet was greasy… Like WAY greasy but tasted the best German chocolate was crumbly but the frosting was good Bumpy cake was meh… the cake itself tasted like cake mix off the shelf I almost bought a smores cupcake, but when asked how it was, I was greated with a confused face, and a shoulder shrug… Even when I asked what she’d recommend, she just told me what was popular. Not what was her fav, or what was special… Nothing! I don’t really understand why this place has to exist. It’s a gourmet cupcake shop that has more ice cream than cupcakes. And the cupcakes are FAR from gourmet. I believe they get their cupcakes from Rockin Cupcakes in Rochester, so I’d imagine you might wanna stay away from there too… If you really must spend $ 3 on a cupcake that is probably crap… Check this place out… My suggestion to Babycakes would be to MAKE your own cupcakes.

I love to support local Michigan businesses… so i gave this a try. Considering I have a couple sweet toothed people in my house. I spent $ 2.99 for a regular sized not even made at that location cupcake! It was horriable. My 7 year old wouldnt eat it, and 7 year olds will usually eat anything that has a cup and a cake put infront of their mouth! The owner told me that they get the cupcakes from a bakery in Birhmingham! So Babycakes Café is the middle man??? for a cupcake??? Skip it and save your money!

Stopped in to check out this new cupcake café and was not impressed at all. I love sweet treats and are always excited to check out new bakeries. $ 2.95 a piece for a dried up crumbly cupcake was way overpriced. It was just your average size cupcake that you can make in your own kitchen. I bought 2 cupcakes and both were dry and crumbled apart. Don’t think I will be returning. :(
