A little while ago, I wrote a review of Hyde’s Country Store which is called«The Phalba Store» by all the locals. It’s actually the same place. It’s off Hwy 175& exit left on Hwy 198. It’s about 15 miles from Cedar Creek Lake & actually closer to Purtis Creek Lake State Park. So, if a Unilocaler is looking for it under The«Phalba Store» name, here’s my updated review for it. Hubby & I headed out to see a good friend’s new house & we were looking forward to grabbing a delicious Cheeseburger & Crinkle Fries at The Phalba Store. Man, this has to be one of the BEST Cheeseburgers I’ve ever eaten! I’m a sucker for Crinkle Fries, too. The store is so clean and welcoming. It’s decorated with red booths and chairs, antique farming equipment & tools, old fishing rods & lures, old Barlow & Case Pocket Knives with Old Gunsmoke TV Shows playing on the Huge Flat Screen. There’s also an old 70’s Pin Ball Machine in the corner. I like it! The store carries minimal groceries, Bread, Mustard, Mayo., Pickles, Chips, Cookies, Candy, Paper Towels, TP, Cleaning Supplies, Cold Drinks, Ice, Tylenol, Advil… etc. It’s all fresh and the store only carries @ 5 – 10 loaves Bread, packages of Cookies, & Bags of Chips, at a time. That way the food stays fresh. The Phalba Store also sells Local Seasonal Vegetables… cantaloupe, watermelon, tomatoes, squash, purple hull peas, blackeyed peas, etc., all very reasonably priced. The Shinning Star to me is their Cheeseburger & Crinkle Fries! I hope The Phalba Store will continue to stay open for many years to come. It’s a great little Stop if you’re ever out that way. Super nice folks!
