Usually great wings here, but we were in about 2 weeks ago and their oil needed changing desperately, our onion rings were way over cooked or dark brown from the bad oil(they took them off the bill) and the wings were VERY big and meaty, but tasted burned almost, from the bad oil. Hopefully better next time !

Just looking for a new family friendly pub, and we happened upon Growlers. With a generous menu of pub fare at a reasonable price, even our very finicky 13 year old daughter was satisfied. The selection of beers on tap was also impressive. But most of all, the service, all at the hands of Larry the bartender was exceptional. Despite a near full bar and mostly occupied tables, Larry provided unequaled service that made the whole experience shine. We will definitely be returning!

Very nice selection of beer choices. The«flight» was priced at a fair amount and allowed me to try 6 different beer choices. I believe it was $ 8 for 6 different 6 ounce beers. I liked some, disliked others but I chose them. I ordered a burger and nachos. The cheese on the nachos was colder than my beers. The burger was good but was of a small portion. The steak fries were very good. We made it through the entire meal with no napkins or silverware given to us. You would think the server would notice our hands were covered with cheese.(We purposely didn’t ask to see if she would notice-she didn’t). It would be a 3⁄5 if I hadn’t ordered the beer and thought the price and idea was fair and cool. For that reason, I gave it a 4⁄5 because I felt generous.

Excellent Beer list they literally have something for everyone. If you are looking for bar food then your in the right place they have an extensive menu and very good food. Highly recommended if your looking for friendly staff and great atmosphere. Great for game time too with their flat screens placed around the dining room and bar area.

This place is a village treasure! I’ve lived outside DC for many years, and had access to brew pubs galore. This place in little old Lyons could stand toe to toe with any of them. Five dollar flights? Mostly locally-produced micro-brews? The full beer flavor spectrum(pilsners to Stouts and Barleywines)? All reasons to hail this place over and over again. I’m constantly bringing new people into this place, and constantly sampling their wares in a flight or two. They also bring in guest brewers like Three Heads and Middle Ages to showcase their stuff. Love this place, love Scotty’s COURAGE in taking the risk to open such an upscale, URBANE bar in such a small town, and looking forward to my next flight!

A definite improvement over the previous Cheeseburger, today’s was very good, warm and tasted fresh, without any seasonings. Just good hamburger. My friend’s fish sandwich was reported to be good too. They have established themselves as a good lunch business, based on their food, and I am told, they also have a solid evening business as well, based on their beers.

Great addition to Lyons! This is a cute place with caring owners and rotating taps of quality beer, most from NY and Pennsylvania. The bartender told me the Lions Head was from Ohio, it is NOT, it is from PA. He seemed new and nervous but nice enough. We had four beers, and order of wings and 2 shots of Irish whiskey. I thought the $ 24 tab was beyond fair given the quality of the beers. I wanted the wings to be crisper and more spicy, but they were not bad. I can’t wait to go back.

Disclaimer — my very dear friends own Growlers. My first time here was during the day and the owners were not in so the bartender had no idea who I was. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about the beers on tap and gave a good impression. This pub specializes in local brews and rotates them frequently. They also have a large selection of bottled beers and of course, a full bar. The food menu looks thoughtful and not all over the place. I did not eat here so can’t review the food. The atmosphere could be a little more pub like. Not sure what would make it that way — maybe it’s just me because this place used to be a diner and it’s hard to think of it as a bar now??? I can tell you that if I still lived here, I would be a regular. The clientele is diverse and my kind of crowd. Coolest thing is seeing many customers come in with their growlers and filling up with local brew to take home. Growlers is a great addition to the Lyons business community.
