This place is awesome. Sad to see their little riverside location go away with the floods, but happy to see their back up and running in Lyons. Definitely worth the stop in and bottle buy.

Over the weekend, I met the owner, Jay, of the new Ciatano Winery Tasting Room. A few months ago, he opened a new tasting room on Main Street in Lyons. Well, he sort of had to open a new location, because the September floods decimated and destroyed the access to the old location(Covered Bridge) on the way to Estes Park from Lyons on Hwy 36. I am creating a new review the winery because(1) Jay stated that they will never return to the old location(2) without a new profile, you cannot check in to the old winery, nor find it while searching in the Town of Lyons(3) to let other consumers know what happened to the great winery after the flood. He explained that customers had a hard time finding him in the new location, or do not know that he reopened. We spent a decent amount of time here last weekend. And everyone who walked in the door for tasting assumed that Ciatano was a new winery. As soon as Jay mentioned the Covered Bridge, everyone, myself included, instantly remembered it. The problem is that very few people know where it is now. As for the wines. I believe that he sampled about 6 or more Whites and about 6 or more Reds on a continuum from dry to sweet. We purchased a bottle of the Chardonnay, which is unoaked here. It was strong, dry, and cool on a hot summer day. The bottles were reasonably priced between $ 16& $ 18 per bottle of Colorado Wine, and he has case discounts, and a great sale on Flood Wine. Stop in. Meet Jay. Have him play you a song on one of the many string instruments hanging around the room, and leave with some great Colorado wine.
