Feral Cat Spay/ Neuter Project

Great people! The staff are well informed and got my kitty fixed up nicely and quickly. I think I lucked out on the day but they were really good with their information and service! Please donate a little extra if you can, $ 25 dollars for a spay is cheap in comparison to $ 300 and it goes towards a great cause!

I volunteered for a year — these are some really great techs and vets working here. This is the best I’ve seen in terms of fast, competent, and affordable spay/​neuter/​vaccine service. These are experts in spay/​neuter with thousands of hours of experience, so you’re really getting the best possible care for your pet. It’s a nonprofit with the primary mission of helping homeless animals, so you know your money is going to a good cause.

The animal staff are amazing and compassionate! People’s pet cats can be spayed and neutered for only $ 15/​males and $ 25 females and un-​owned or feral cats are free — you can’t beat that! And the veterinarian is a leader in the field of high-​quality, high-​volume spay/​neuter. They are efficient, caring and passionate about helping cats.
They are completely non-​profit and all of their money is based on the very nominal low-​cost fees for some of their services, and from generous donors and grants. They run on a minimum budget but produce maximum results. Last year FCSNP spayed and neutered close to 8,000 cats from all across Washington state!
While they are not able to come and help you capture feral or free-​roaming cats, they do loan out traps or can ask some of the local trappers and rescuers to help people out with getting cats caught, fixed and re-​released. The more spay/​neuter, the less unwanted and homeless kitties there are!

I brought my cat here to get spayed, as I’m a college student and I’m broke all the time and couldn’t afford the $ 300 pricetag I was quoted from 3 other vets in Bothell.
So the deal with Feral Cat Project is that you can bring feral cats or domestic cats here to get spayed or neutered. I think female domestics are $ 25−30ish, I ended up getting a few other things/​services while my cat was there so it ended up costing me about $ 40 I think. Feral cats are free I think???
You do make a reservation, but don’t expect a time to drop your cat off. Nope. You have to go there at about 7am and write your name on the clipboard, then they’ll call you in based on the clipboard, you drop your kitty off, then they’ll give you a window of time when you can come pick them up at.
I was the last person on the clipboard, and they told me about 2pm Kona (my kitty) would be done. I got a phone call at 9:30am or so saying she’ll be ready at 11am! That’s quick! So I went and got her, they gave me some instructions on what to do when I took her home (leave her in the carrier til her eyes aren’t dilated, and she seems more ‘normal’.)
She did take much longer to get ‘normal’ again, probably wasn’t walking right until 6−7pm that night. She healed up within a week, and now has a lovely Spayed tattoo on her tummy. :) You do have to bring your own cat carrier (or trap cage if it’s feral, if that is what you used), a towel or blanket for them to lay on, and a plastic bag.
Also wouldn’t hurt to bring some extra cash to donate to Feral Cat Project while you’re there…
I will forever support the Feral Cat Project, I think what they are doing is phenomenal. The staff were incredibly nice and you could tell they wanted to work there, you know?
They were kinda hard to find at 7am, but they are located in an office building next to the Goodwill in Lynnwood.
