St Michael’s Hall

What an incredible place! The security around this place is phenomenal! The local police are in total agreement with security measures taken here. I came here for a fund-​raising event for a young child with cancer. The Hall was donated free of charge, the food (which was way over the top delicious) was also donated free, and a wide variety of entertainment performed on stage, all free of charge! And the funds raised were way over the top: over $ 14,000 in donations! There’s nothing like community coming together to work together for the common good. Loads of parking, full security, and in Lynn, MA, that alone is priceless! I highly recommend this facility, there’s no other place within this city that is so incident free! Absolutely MATCHLESS!

I went to St Michael’s Hall for a 50^th birthday party for family. They required our family to hire security for the event. Seemed a little extreme. I’ve rented a number of halls and have never had to hire security for a family function.
Upon arrival, «security» literally checked people and went through everyone’s bags. They removed a water bottle from an elderly aunt’s purse and told her she couldn’t take the water into the hall. When asked why and informing the guard that she had a medical condition, she was told they sell water inside and that’s how they make their money.
A cousin who doesn’t drink alcohol walked in with a Red Bull and the guard took it away from her. When asked why, she was told he «doesn’t want to play any games.» He then asked her to empty her entire purse so he could check her bag further. Talk about embarrassing. Many people brought gifts to the birthday party and their gifts were questioned at the door and kept behind the bar, since a few of them were bottles of champagne, baskets, and alcohol.
The location of the hall is surrounded by residential housing and upon entering or exiting the building, we got the joy of hearing a mother screaming at her children… All night long.
All in all, it’s the biggest hall in the area. However, if you’re looking for an intimate family gathering or function — this hall is not for you. Save yourself the violation of having your personal belongings rifled through and dumped in front of security.

This place is old in appearance and is run down.
This is a fairly large hall that you can rent out for parties, gatherings or weddings. I’ve attended two weddings here (one being my sisters) and it’s not all that great. It’s pretty run down, meaning it’s an old building but not the old antique looking ones but the old, rundown looking ones. There’s a fairly large parking lot to the side of the building which is pretty good if you’re looking to host a party but for weddings, it’s substandard.
The bar area is located right at the entrance of the hall and it is of appropriate size for the size of the hall itself and is pretty open so a lot of people can be on the bar’s counter top without overcrowding it. There’s a small stage on the edge of the hall for musical acts or speeches.
The area it is located in is pretty rundown as well. It’s smack dab in the middle of a residential housing area. It’s an ok establishment, nothing really fancy. Good for hosting smaller gatherings but if you’re looking for elegance, look somewhere else.
