I spent a good twenty years of my life living in a small border town in Texas and working deep into Mexico. During this time I was exposed to fantastic south of the border cuisine so perhaps my taste buds have been spoiled. My experience with the food at El Tikal was one of great and utter disappointment. My wife and I ordered the gorditas, enchiladas, tostada and tamal and each of them were devoid of any spice or flavor. The tamal in specific was perhaps one of the WORST things that I can remember ever putting in my mouth and could take only one bite of it. I am truly at a loss as to how Mexican/Central American food could be so flavorless and bland. Judging from earlier positive reviews perhaps the cooks just had a really bad night, but I for one will not go back and cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant.

Authentic El Salvadoran food in Lynn. They will deliver but be warned when I called no one could speak english, keep a spanish speaking co-worker handy when ordering. Huge portions for a very reasonable price. The chicharrons are big pieces of deep fried pork meat with not much fat at all. The other dishes are also large portion size. Mexican is not my favorite cuisine but this is a nice inexpensive change of pace from a routine lunch.

As a California native, it’s difficult to find good and authentic Mexican food around Boston. This place had friendly service, and a nice variety of Central American dishes, all from simple and fresh ingredients, with plenty of flavor to boot! I would drive from Boston to eat here again. Try the pupusas, the adobada tacos, and the enchilada plate!
