Century 21 Hughes

Century 21 Hughes has to be one of the best realtors in the North East.
David Hughes and his dedicated staff are fantastic to deal with. They not only convey intelligence and market savvy, but honesty and integrity as well. When the time comes for me to consider selling my property, I won’t be going anywhere else.

Working with Century 21 Hughes was by far and away the worst experience of my life. We worked with a realtor who was grossly unprofessional to the point of being outright insulting. She had forwarded us some documents in an email and in it there was a correspondence between her and the buyers’ realtor. The correspondence included our realtor claiming that our listing was «the worst she’d ever had.» When I confronted her about this she was only defensive, not apologetic, and she told me that our family was being too demanding and it was especially difficult «because you (meaning me) live there.» I urge all home sellers and buyers in the greater Lynn area to avoid Century 21 Hughes. It seems as though this firm, because most people just use them and don’t shop around, thinks it has the authority to do and say whatever it wants without consequences to its business.

When the time came to sell my home I asked my mortgage broker friends who was a really good realtor in Lynn and Matt’s name came up. Some of the considerations I had in mind when deciding who to work with were:
1. Is the person well connected with a track record for completing many deals?
2. Is the person responsive both by phone, email, and text?
3. Is the fee reasonable?
4. Does the person have the experience to provide me sound guidance?
I got in contact with Matt just days before taking a trip and he came right over and looked at my property. The fee we agreed on was fair, he had the listing up right away, an open house scheduled by the weekend, and when I came back there were already 3 offers. Less than one week since contacting him and already I knew my decision to work with him was the right one. I choose an offer based upon a good understanding from Matt of the pros and cons of each one. Things progressed smoothly from that point until just before the end when the buyers financing became a little rocky. Thanks to Matt’s experienced assessment of the situation, I hung in and the deal did close on time. Matt excelled with all the considerations I used in picking a realtor to work with. I just really appreciated working with someone who knows his craft well and gave me really clear, honest, and sound guidance throughout the selling process.
