The food here used to be pretty good. They don’t seem to care much about the quality of their food anymore. This is the second time I have gotten a french dip to go and it is just terrible! There is a strange after taste that is almost gag worthy. My husband got the pretzel club which had one slice of deli turkey and one slice of ham. Will not bother going back.

I have a two star instead of a one star because it is cool place physically and the staff was nice. But, the food is not good. The Turkey burger is not ground turkey, but more like prepackaged frozen pressed patties from a not so good processing plant. Get a drink and eat somewhere else.

Great food and great atmosphere. The service was good but not great. It is hard to rate service anymore since anywhere seems to be lacking in service these days. I recommend the loaded potato things for an appetizer. They are yummy! I had the club sandwich on the pretzel bun and my hubby had the ribs. Great taste for a great price! We will be back.

Went with a group of 10 on a Saturday night. Great food and service. We were seated promptly. Large variety of food. Did not disappoint, everyone loved what they ordered

Best chicken fingers ever. Our theatre group comes into lynchburg 3 months out of the year and our actors come by Depot at least once a week!

The ambiance was nice and service reasonable, but the food didn’t come across as fresh, flavorful, or high quality. While the menu seemed pretty interesting, the food didn’t live up to my expectations(especially considering we spent $ 50 on lunch for two adults and one child). This could be a fun spot if the kitchen used better ingredients and worked in a little more natural flavor.

Beautiful spot for a nice restaurant. We sat outside. There are three active train tracks and one went by during the 1:15 we were there. Variety of food was ordered and everyone enjoyed it.

we ate outside and enjoyed the atmosphere and history. Our service was good, the local beer was great. The steak was cooked to perfection(medium well), and The fried oysters were lightly breaded and tasted fresh. I will say the sauce on the Oyster Special for the day was way too spicy for my taste.

I’ve been here 5 or so times now, usually with my dad or grandparents. I’ve tried a few different options and the bison burger is my favorite but overall I’d say the food here is very average.

The place looks very nice, but the food was not good. The sirloin steak sandwich sounded very good, but both myself and my date were disappointed for different reasons. Mine was nothing but a fatty mess that you couldn’t even bite through. It only took me one bite to spit out and ask for just a Cheeseburger instead. It arrived and was your typical sit-down chain burger a frozen patty heated and dry. I was just hungry and ended up eating 2 thirds of. My dates decided not to complain and try to eat the steak sandwich. One section was completely RED not pick, but red I would almost say raw… We both asked for well. I think that her was seared then cooked on only half the grill(seriously). She managed almost half of hers. She didn’t want anything else as we just mostly ate the fries. The wait staff was friendly and maybe different menu items would have been better, but there has to be better options in Lynchburg. Please fix the menu with fresher and better selections or better management.

I haven’t been to visit the Depot Grille in years since I moved after college graduation. When I went this past Saturday evening, they were better than I even remembered. It was a very busy night, with birthday parties and prom dinners, but our food was relatively quick despite that. I ordered the chicken tenders, regular, not buffalo style. I had a huge baked potato that was cooked perfectly, and yummy green beans. The portion sizes here are incredible. do not eat before you come here. I also tried the seafood platter my mom ordered. The crab cakes were delicious and I will try the fried oysters again!

This place is unique I’ll give it that. The staff can be slow. My food as always been good no matter what I order. I think for what you get its over priced. Nothing mind blowing, just good food. Worth checking out if you are looking for somewhere different to eat.

Average average average. They were busy, I felt like they did not care if I was there or not. Never asked how food was, salad had different toppings than what the menu described. The staff seemed flustered and overwhelmed.

Nice salmon Caesar salad. Kids menu is typical. The pecan pie is microwaved, which is a shame. All said, it was consistent and taste good. Service is very good. Try the oysters. They where excellent.

I stopped in with some coworkers for a beer and dinner based on a recommendation from our hotel. We sat at the bar. They had several Virginia beers on tap. I had the St George’s Pilsner which was OK. The food is pretty solid. I had a Bison Burger with Sweet Potatoes. I’m a big burger fan and think most places have no idea how to make a good burger. But this one was good and was reasonably priced. My friends had the ribs. They had no complaints. The atmosphere and the service were good but not enough to be a big factor. I enjoyed my visit but I’d probably try something different given the choice.
