Magnolia Foods

Magnolia was a great, local sandwich shop! Although I wish I had known more about the brunch when we went on Sunday because that looked amazing and everyone around us was eating it. I’ll know next time I stop in!
When we went up to order, I took a little while trying to decide on which sandwich to get since they all sounded so good! I ended up ordering the Curried Chicken Salad sandwich. It was very unique and tasty! It was the first time I had had curried chicken salad and it had a mango chutney sauce on the pumpernickel bread which was delicious. My one complaint about the chicken salad was that it was really shredded so it was more like tuna consistency. I usually prefer my chicken salad to have large chunks! My boyfriend paid an extra $ 2 to «make it a bag lunch». He got a side of potato salad and the cappuccino brownie. I loved the brownie, definitely would recommend.

Really nice place. Very simple set-​up with really good sandwiches and sides at good prices. Very good service as well.

Great local place! I love the turkey and apples sandwich. So good. Their cappuccino brownies and lemon bars are so delicious too. I’ve actually never had anything I didn’t like here. Yum yum!

I hadn’t been to Magnolia Café since college. I wish I had. It’s such a unique and special place. The shop has a variety of craft beers and a nice wine selection. It’s a small café, but there is also lovely outside seating.
They offer an assortment of baked goods, quiches, cold salads, think a small and fresh section of a whole foods or fresh market. Again, but much better.
If you sit outside, enjoy the layout. The box plants are mainly herbs. I looked to my left and some tiny strawberries were staring at me. It’s a small secret garden feel. Everything is charming. That’s the best way to describe it.

My moms carrot cake was the best carrot cake I’ve had in my life. It had pieces of pineapple. It really was just out. Of. This. World.
The cupcakes lacked a bit of moisture, but were still very good. I most enjoyed the vanilla cupcake with a lemon cream cheese frosting and fresh blueberries. They’ve got 8 – 9 cupcakes to choose from daily.
Now that I’ve broken the absentee chain, I’ll make sure to stop by more when I’m in Lynchburg. It’s one of the only places I enjoy without saying — it’s good, for Lynchburg.
The staff is friendly and we were actually there right before closing time. I went in to throw some trash and enjoyed hearing some old school hip hop while they were closing up shop. Gotta have fun.

Visiting Lynchburg, we had Saturday lunch at Magnolia Foods. It’s very very pleasant, with attentive staff and great food, including wonderfully creative sandwiches at reasonable prices.

Truly wonderful takeout foods, great space for meeting to eat hummus wraps, spicy noodles, and cappuccino brownies, and truly excellent customer service to advise you on which items among the selection of wines, gourmet food items, and what-​nots you should take away. Love, love, love Magnolia Foods!

My mom and I visited Magnolia for the first time in years and were equally as pleased with the casual eatery as we were about 5 years back. Their selection of sandwiches, wraps and prepared salads is impressive, and not to mention tasty! We both fell into the temptation of the carrot cake, just one of their many delectables. Magnolia offers a special experience with their specialty items in the store, and their customer service is second to none. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will be back soon!

Such a cute place to wonder around, and they have one of the best box lunch deals on Rivermont! You can pick from a pretty large variety of sandwiches and then a side and a pastry or dessert all made fresh! I’ve tried a few different sandwiches but the chicken curry sandwich and the turkey, apple, cheddar sandwich are both my favorites, with potato salad and the carrot cake (which is also amazing)!

I tried Magnolia Foods while visiting lynchburg today. Sandwiches were delicious with bread so fresh I had to ask of they made it there. Wonderful cold salads and the coconut macaroon was great! I will definitely go back next time we are in town.

My Wife and I love this place. They have great sandwiches, great sides, and great desserts, but that is the just the restaurant side of this fine establishment. They are also a store and grocer. They have an excellent selections of wine from all over the world with featured ones available at a discount as well as craft and premium beers. I would definitely recommend stopping by here on a fair weather day and enjoying an amazing lunch.

I enjoyed a leisurely Saturday morning here and need to come in more often. They have amazing desserts and very good coffee. I saw a lot of good looking sandwiches go by! Nice selection of craft beer and wine.

Nice place — easy to go for lunch with a friend. Decent food, decent selection, not bad prices. Atmosphere can be a bit weird sometimes, but overall pleasant. I go regularly and will continue to do so!

We stopped here when visiting from out of town. Deli sandwiches were very good also good desserts. Lots of snacks and treats to chose from. Inside seating, friendly staff. Pricing a little on the upper end but worth the visit. Would stop again.

The food is horrible. My pasta dish looked like noodles with can of mushroom soup on top. We hated the food but enjoyed the ambiance. This place is a nice place to buy kitchen products or wine not so much to dine in.

I really want to like Magnolia Foods. It’s one of the few casual gourmet places in an small town filled with disappointing chain joints. It’s a quaint mix of small specialty store (wines, cheeses, foods, and knickknacks) and deli with café tables. The ladies working there are very friendly and truly care about their customers. Alas…
My first to-​go bag lunch (e.g., with one side and dessert) was a $ 7.45 Turkey, Apple, & Cheddar Sandwich. The first impression was the color, consisted of muted browns rather than brighter colors. The Turkey, Apple, & Cheddar Sandwich was pretty simple — turkey, thin green apple, spicy mustard, cheddar on bread — something that could be made at home. The Spicy Sesame Noodles had a little too much spicy peanut sauce, and reminded me of to thick sauce clinging to the pasta rather than a light salad dressing. The Cappuccino Brownie caught my eye as a dessert, but it reminded me of rich fudge with a taste of cappuccino taste rather a strong coffee flavor.
My second to-​go bag lunch was a $ 6.85 Hummus Wrap with Potato Salad and Cappuccino Brownie. The wrap reminded me of a crêpe, consisting of a flat, limp tortilla rather than an round, stuffed wrap. The cucumber and tomato was freshly cut, but I think it could have used a little bit more. The Potato Salad was better with skinned red potatoes and a good balance of mayo.
I really want to like Magnolia Foods, but, alas the ordinary food does not live up to the gourmet prices.

I mean, hello: the Turkey, Apple, and Cheddar Sandwich? Can I get an amen?
Also, the chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting — I might swoon.
I love that you can get stuff to take home for dinner — they have a nice prepared foods selection. And before I moved to Lynchburg, I would go to Magnolia Foods to pick up little gifts to bring back for my friends — they have a pretty decent selection of non-​perishable gourmet speciality foods that make for nice little treats to take back to friends and family.
Now that I live here, however, I can just bliss out on those Turkey, Apple, and Cheddar sandwiches. I don’t even like sandwiches much, but those things make me a believer.

They also have a lot of Virginia made products including wine.

This is, by far, one of the best spots in Lynchburg. The food is of the highest quality, and the selection is always interesting and very fresh. The set up is reminiscent of a trendy Connecticut café. Ms. Martha Stewart would definitely approve of the spot.
If you are in Lynchburg, do go by and try the quiche. It is cheap, and one of the most delicious things I have eaten.
And, not to be forgotten, the cupcakes are really yummy. I tried the almond cupcake, and it rivals any trendy NYC cupcake.

Cupcakes!!!
This place has amazing cupcakes! The other entrees are very good as well, but we will drive all the way down here after lunch just for cupcakes. We have even called ahead to reserve cupcakes on the way due to the fact that they will often run out on the weekends.
They also have a nice little patio area where you can sit and watch the healthy people run by while you are enjoying your beautiful, calorie filled, sugary, non-​splittable due to greed, piece of heaven.
The little store area is nice as well, but why would you buy that stuff when you could use your money on more cupcakes? Unless you are buying wine, that would be the only pardonable sin.

They have tables and great place, as someone said very well, to bring your mother to lunch. That being said, I have never stayed to eat for lunch. Like most places in this area, it is a bit pricey, but gourmet and worth it if you have the coin.
I prefer to go here for take out orders or small contains of their high-​end food.
Their bloody mary mix is superb.
