When I walked in I wasn’t impressed with the décor/art but I’m picky about that sort of thing. Once the food started rolling out I forgot all about the ugly paintings. I ordered way too much food nut it was worth it. Highlights of night– petite filet with sunny side up egg and truffle oil, duck spring rolls, crab cake and a nice bottle of montepulciano that came with a cheese plate. NY Strip special was mammoth and delicious. Chocolate coconut pie was amazing, save a few sips of red wine to chase it down– you can’t go wrong. 4 thumbs way up. Also it’s pretty much dirt cheap to eat like a king in this place.

I am always amazed this place remains open. I want to love this place, but every time I go, I leave more disappointed that I spent my money here than the time before. The service is terrible… always. The food tastes great, when it comes. Every time I go they are out of so many items. It takes forever to order and forever to get the first plate. After the first plate each dish comes out right on top of each other. This is not the way tapas should be served. Some people in my party did not even receive half of their food. The ambiance is cute and the concept is great but like I said, I want to like this place, but it seems to get worse and it is such a shame.

We went to Dish when we were staying in Lynchburg for the weekend. We had read the Unilocal reviews so we were surprised by our experience. First the positives — the bread was good and the place is pretty. The jerk chicken was tasty and my husband liked his watercress salad. That’s it. Our service was horrible. There was a very large party in the restaurant, so maybe that is why, but it was spotty and aloof at best. The food was equally bad. My Bibb salad was first delivered with onions that I had asked to not have, so I had to send it back. When it returned it was drowning in dressing. Our crab cake was inedible. The waiter told us the taste was«non-traditional». We could not eat it and it was removed from the bill. I’m not familiar with other restaurants in the city so maybe this is better than most, but it did not live up to our expectations or the Unilocal reviews.

Tapas The food selection in the Lynchburg is good but there are some outstanding locations, such as Dish. Dish is a smallish tapas restaurant with a nice selection of menu items as well as some daily specials. My wife and I decided to give it a whirl as it was a long week and we needed to get out of the house for a night. The waiter got us off to good start with the truffle oiled french fries. A tad too crisp for me, but delicious nonetheless with a nice aioli to accompany it as a dip. We had questions and the waiter was able to explain everything as to ingredients and portion sizes. Nice to find someone that knows what he is serving. The menu is basically broken into four sections: Apps, meats, salads and seafood, with a decent selection within each grouping. There are also cheese plate selections available. We went with roasted mushrooms, a quail special, jerk style chicken and an arugula salad. My wife had never had quail and it had a stuffing of apples and sausage — it was outstanding. Jerk chicken was spiced nicely and left a little zing in your mouth with every bite. The mushrooms were tres bien and the salad was unremarkable. We even opted for desert, which is not our typical thing. My wife took advantage of the root beer they offer and had a root beer float. I had a chocolate /coconut pie. All in all a really good night — about the only thing that could have used a little more depth were the wine by the glass options in my opinion. A definitely good place to take a date of to try new things. Parking on the street.

Not that great for a private party. Was there for several hours and all I ate was a few pieces of cheese, olives and some kind of spring roll. They put all the food at one end of the bar and with a crowd of people hovering all night, not really the best layout. I saw them passing around food a few times but they never made it around the whole room. I left hungry! Might be good for smaller groups.

For the last few years, I have been fortunate to travel to visit friends in Lynchburg. We have eaten at Dish on various occasions. Service has always been solid and responsive. Food was sometimes good, but sometimes spotty. This last visit over the weekend was a highlight. Mussels, curry cauliflower, kimchi, arugula, beets and chèvre were all the tops. Not too salty, oily or anything negative. Just pure deliciousness and paired well with the various red wines they’re pouring. Really happy to taste all the improved and flavorful tapas!

Excellent restaurant. Great service. The food is creative and very tasty, you can feel that they love good food. I liked the décor, simple and tasteful, even if some of the art on the walls is not that great. The service was very good. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and even though they did not have everything we requested, she gave us excellent recommendations to substitute. One of the cheeses she recommended, the grayson, was world-class. We ordered four tapas, and they were brought one by one with perfect rhythm: as soon as we were almost finished with one, the next one came. I liked that the wait staff was not overbearing, they seemed so confident in the food they served that they did not feel compelled to ask every five minutes if everything was OK. The food was exceptional. We ordered three cheeses, and except for one, they were all excellent. The first two plates were just as good: asparagus with a spicy vinaigrette, and jerk chicken. The last one, the fried quail, was the best. Crispy outside and very juicy inside, not an easy feat with such a small bird. I did not look at the wine menu, but they have some very good beers. The imperial stout in particular is outstanding. I absolutely recommend this restaurant. We will be back for sure.

I’ll admit, I’m not a huge fan. I think there is so little good dining in Lynchburg that when people see anything different, they immediately think it’s the most amazing thing ever. Same here for Dish. Okay food, way over priced.

There’s a reason that Dish is one of the longest-lasting establishments in struggling downtown Lynchburg. The food, staff, and atmosphere cannot be beat. Dish has a wide variety of tapas from all over the globe — if you want duck tacos, phở, baba ghanoush, and a cheese plate all without getting out of your seat — come to Dish. In addition to their menu of fine cheeses, tapas, and extensive wine list, Dish offers nightly specials that are consistently rotating. There are also typically a few«large» plates for someone who wants to just have a one-course dinner. My favorites are the quail, Humboldt fog aged goat cheese, jerk chicken, mediterranean dish, tacos, samosas, and mussels. Since this is a tapas place, Dish is really great for a meal when you just want to take your time. There’s only about 10 tables in the place, and the wait staff is very attentive. They’ve recently added liquor to their bar, so you can now have wine, beer, or liquor, but really I recommend their exciting list of wines. Best time to try out Dish? Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. They do a special called Phenomenal Rendezvous where you can get a bottle of their selected red or white wine, three small plates, and dessert — all for $ 35! Plus you can add a cheese plate(which I recommend) for a reasonable cost as well. Please, if you’re up for trying something new, go check out Dish. You won’t regret it!

I think Dish is my favorite restaurant in Lynchburg. The rotating specials are fantastic and you can always try something new! The Chef has great taste in creating unique flavor profiles that really leave you wanting more. Great selection of wine and cheese, and they often rotate the craft beer selection on draft. Great atmosphere to relax and enjoy delicious food at a fair price.

I love Dish! I have eaten here at least 10 times and it is very consistent both with service and quality. I love tapas restaurants and although this is not a traditional tapas place it is great for Lynchburg. The prices are really cheap for the value of food you receive. The atmosphere is adorable. Definitely date quality. I end up craving some of their dishes and going at least once a month. Love it!

Dish is a quaint little spot in Lynchburg, where I was visiting a friend who has been a bit under the weather. While the concept and the menu sounded awesome, the actual experience was just«ok». I will take the meal in order. The bread that comes out with the garlic/parmesan oil could have been really good, had it not been ice cold. It was a very long time before we got our next plate, which was merely cheese, so I’m not quite sure what the delay was. I must say the cheese plate was amazing, though I was disappointed that two of our original three selections were sold out and not available for purchase. The crab fritters were decent… though quite bready, with minimal seafood flavor. The vinaigrette on the Bibb Lettuce salad was extremely acidic, which took away from the overall brightness of the simple salad. The Korean Barbecue Chicken was quite a let down. Though it featured a very strong flavor of kimchi in the side dishes, the chicken itself could have been roasted with thyme and garlic for all of the uniqueness that I could taste. Overall, I was disappointed that this was my friends first entre into the Lynchburg dining scene, but it is my hope that we will find better spots in the future. I travel a lot and have very high standards. Dish is good for what it is, a mediocre tapas restaurant in a college town. but definitely nothing to write home about.

This is the only tapas bar that I know of in lynchburg. It is actually quite good. The food is fresh and the selection is exceptional. A lot of exotic foods and European dishes. They have a good cheese selection and a decent wine selection as well. I wish more people would come here I think it is a great spot and it would be nice for drinks and cocktails if more people would show up. Unfortunately downtown Lynchburg struggles to be lively even on the weekends.

Last night was the first time that my wife and I visited this restaurant, and I have to say that we were thoroughly surprised and pleased with our experience. We had an excellent waitress and excellent food. We have some wine, a beer, a cheese tray, a tamales tray, and the jerk chicken tray. Again, it was all very good and less expensive then other tapas joints that we have to. Our waitress told us about the couples specials that they have on Monday, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, and we are looking forward to revisiting on one of those nights in the near future.

Went to Dish last night at 6:00(not busy) and 6 of us were unimpressed. Took FOREVER for our waitress, Olivia, to take our drink order. We ordered a few small plates. One being the Mediterranean plate. My husband and I love Baba Ghanoush and wanted out fellow diners to taste this along with the hummus. It turned out they tried to deceive us by placing two blobs of hummus on our plate. When our waitress finally returned we mentioned that both items were hummus. She then tells us they ran out of Baba Ghanoush. They had only been open 1 hr. Never offering any restitution for their omission. I would have made a bigger deal of this at the restaurant but I didn’t want to embarrass our table. I will be contacting Dish today to speak to mgmt. Poor Service and nothing we had was anything special.

dish is a cute little spot on Lynchburg’s Main Street that does the whole small plates deal that is becoming a big thing in today’s food world. I dropped by here with my beautiful girlfriend for the«phenomenal rendezvous», which turns out, is a pretty incredible deal. You get to choose 3 small plates, grab a bottle of the white or red, and get some dessert all for just $ 35! While it is a steal, the two wines you have to choose from are surely not close to the good wines they have, and I must say that the service was quite slow even though few people were in the restaurant at the time. The ambiance also makes for a great date. Low lighting, beautiful tables, and charming decorations. A definite hot spot for Lynchburg’s up and coming downtown.
