My wife and I ate lunch at your restaurant today(Friday). I wanted to comment on the overall quality of the food we ate. First, the food was not fresh. For example, the sour dough bread on the roast beef sandwich was stale and dry. At $ 7.95 it was disappointing. The roast beef was dark brown with absolutely no red. The lettuce had brown edges and there was very little cheese. It looked like shredded cheese not a slice of cheese. I had the potato salad for my side and it was near tasteless although I did get a very large amount. If you’re going to charge deli prices then your food quality must improve else you won’t have any repeat customers. I will not bad mouth your restaurant to my friends but I do sincerely hope that your manager will take my review, meant to be constructive, to heart and stop selling low quality food for the prices you are charging. At these prices customers expect quality and sadly I’m disappointed. Thanks, Jack

I love this place! I drop in a few times a week and get lunch here. Their potatoe salad is so Delilah! And last time I was there I had a sample of the buffalo chowder and it was very good but also very greasy. Every time I have come in to the City Place it has berms great experience

A lovely little sandwich shop with fresh, homemade food. Nothing from a can or box, which was refreshing! The employees were very sweet and helpful. The veggie/hummus wrap was LOADED with fresh veggies and hummus! I wish I would have told her to take it easy on the feta, there was too much for my personal taste(it was a little overpowering), but it was very simple to scrape it out into the basket. I had a side of loaded potato salad, which was obviously homemade. It was very good, but a bit bland… whoever prepped it needs to salt the potatoes(which were perfectly cooked for potato salad, by the way) well when cooking them to add some more flavor. Overall, a great experience and a reminder of my favorite restaurant/sandwich shop back home while I call Lynchburg home for another week of class at LU.

Ok. I’m going to jump right to it. 1) I walk in and wasn’t greeted(this drives me crazy). 2) the girl comes and takes my order wearing her food preparing gloves. She takes my order on them and my money then goes back to preparing food! TAKEYOURGLOVESOFF! 3) I ordered the chicken salad sandwich. The bread was dry so I ate just the chicken salad and that was dry. 4) I ordered a cupcake and that was old and dry and just not good. 5) there was another girl behind the counter(where you could see) preparing something in a big bowl. The she grabs a spoon and eats right of the bowl. Then, using the same spoon, she takes another bite. I see her put whatever it was in the bowl into little small cups to use as «sides» for to go orders. YUCK 6) the kitchen, behind the counter, was a total mess. Dirty kitchen aid mixers, dirty bowls stacked inside each other. I will not be returning for sure

There are not many places in Lynchburg where you can get a sandwich for lunch, and know that great detail went into creating it. Food and company has become my favorite lunch spot in the hill city. The staff is always friendly and accommodating, the food is always fresh made right when you order, and is never a let down. From the menu items, to chalk board specials, I have yet to try something I have not liked. A few of my favorites are the Tomato Mozzarella sandwich, Grown up Grilled Cheese sandwich with bowl of home made tomato basil soup, and of course their ever so popular sweet chicken salad. After you have over stuffed yourself with savory sandwiches and delicious deli case sides, a trip to Food and Company isn’t complete until you have desert. Cupcakes are the specialty, and they are really something special. My go to desert is the Boston Cream Cupcake, my wife swears by their small cheesecakes. But the nice thing is, whatever choice you make you won’t be disappointed. If you are looking for a great spot to have a casual lunch, go to Wyndhurst, and try this small treasure of a restaurant.

Stopped on for lunch and enjoyed it. Staff was friendly and attentive. I had no idea what to get, so tried the special of the day– soup and sandwich. Soup was a chunky tomato basil and sandwich was tomato, pesto and provolone. Will try again, had other good looking choices.

As a Liberty student, it is hard to find good local places that serve great food for a decent-college-student-budget price. City Place Food and Co. provided a healthy lunch and even snacks! The granola wraps are delicious! The Buffalo Chicken Chowder is one of my favorite items on the menu — and I hate soup! I would also recommend the Special of the Day Sandwich options or the Asian Slaw! If you are a picky eater, try the Create Your Own Option for a Salad or Sandwich! This place has many options for everyone out there, I definitely recommend this place to everyone in Lynchburg and those who are just passing through!

This place is the perfect touch of guilt-free health and satisfaction that the rest of Lynchburg, other than Roly Poly, hasn’t caught up with yet. The owner/operator is incredible and treats me with friendly service every time I’m in town.

Food is good, service was very friendly. Prices are a little high for the kind of food, not much meat on the sandwich. The place itself is very small and you can hear every conversation around you. The cases were empty with no baked goods or food products which I thought was strange. It’s a decent place but could use a little tweaking in some areas.

I wanted to like this place. It’s local. It’s cute. BUT… My first experience there was enjoyable. I went with my mom and my 8 month old son. It was busy but we were able to find a place to sit. We got our sandwiches in a somewhat timely fashion, and I thought it was tasty(I had the BLT and Mediterranean salad, so not that unique). I also didn’t feel ostracized because I had an infant with me, which was refreshing(there were also other young children in the establishment). So of course I decided to try the place again for lunch. This time was a TOTALBOMB, and quite honestly the place is not that great for me to want to go back after this experience! There were plenty of tables open, yet the three young girls behind the counter seemed so hurried. I noticed that the kitchen was extremely sloppy, but I decided to give it a pass since I enjoyed the food the first time. We(this time it was my sister, my son and I) had a seat. FORTYFIVE minutes later still NOFOOD! My son was growing antsy so I approached the girls behind the counter(who were only a few feet away from us) and asked if we could change our order to go because I needed to get my son fed and put down for a nap. They looked confused, and so I asked them if they had even started making the sandwiches yet. They asked what I ordered and said«no». At that point I asked for a refund. They acted as if I was BOTHERINGTHEM, and then FIVEMINUTES later finally punched some keys in the register, ripped up the order ticket, and said I had been refunded. That’s it. No, «I’m sorry about that» or anything. I am extremely disappointed, and will not provide my business to such a poorly run establishment. I don’t know what happened from the first time to the next, but I would hope some positive changes are made. Oh yes, I forgot to mention that as we sat there, patiently waiting for our food, at least a handful of people came and sat AND ate, and also got their food to go.

Finally had the opportunity to visit this place for lunch and was a little confused — great California Wrap with a Mediterranean salad as a side– both excellent! But the desserts that were word of mouth were non existent! The case was empty. I will definitely try it again!

Nuri is nuts. City Place is a breath of fresh air to the culinary offerings of Lynchburg. Great food that’s fresh and healthy. Incredible Chicken Salad. The Asian Slaw is awesome. And desserts — OMG — I want it NOW!

I was totally hopeful for this place. Given a string of five star reviews, I was expecting the most amazing deli in the entire world. I think I learned, though, that people in Lynchburg are just excited to have a mediocre locally owned deli. I’m a vegetarian, and there are precisely two vegetarian options on the menu: A caprese sandwich(and a) Vegetable sandwich Admittedly, the Caprese sandwich, toasted, was great. I had it with Asian cole slaw that was ok. The second time I dined, however, I had the Vegetable sandwich. I was completely disappointed by the stale bread(omg, biggest pet peeve ever), the lack of tasty vegetables, and the overall bland flavor of the sandwich. I had the Mediterranean salad as well, which also lacked flavor and was only mediocre. Overall, I’m really not sure what the heck everyone is so excited about. Mediocre options and bland flavors served up by a couple of cuties isn’t enough to get a five star in my book. In fact, it’s enough to not earn any more return trips.

I’m a Chicagoian transplanted to Lynchburg, VA for the next 5 weeks for work. We saw this place on Unilocal and that it was close to where we are working(J Crew Call Center) so we decided to give it a shot. There were 3 of us in our group; one that is vegetarian, one that is paleo(no bread/grain/rice/beans/pasta/dairy) and one that eats anything. All three of us were able to easily and quickly find something that suits all of our diets, and at very reasonable prices. We were all very happy with our meals as well; very yummy! The women working there today were also very nice and friendly, and gave me directions to a near by coffee shop since I’m from out of town.

If your not looking for it, you won’t find it… Heaven knows I’ve gone past it a few times and forgotten where it was! Nestled behind the roar of the thoroughfare of Wyndhurst, City Place offers a haven for those seeking great food and a healthy choice. Personally I am partial to their club. For a great price you get a superb sandwich! Just tried the homemade granola today and that was nothing but life changing. Makes a great healthy snack with coffee in the afternoons. If your looking for a great deli that’s quite and down to earth this is your place. No major frills or loud music, just good, healthy food!

City Place Food & Co is a breath of fresh air in Wyndhurst. The deli is bright and cheery with an excellent menu selection that can be enjoyed by anyone. All of their food is made fresh and is not processed or frozen. Their deli meats don’t use binders or fillers, and you can definitely taste the difference. I had heard so many wonderful things, I decided to try the deli trio, which allowed me to choose three deli items and a bread of my choice. I ordered the savory chicken salad, the asian cole slaw, and the mediterranean/greek salad. The mediterranean salad consisted of chickpeas, cherry tomatoes, pepperocinis, black olives, and feta, with a greek vinaigrette. It was light, fresh, and delicious. The asian slaw was a combination of cabbage, carrots, edamame, and peanuts with a sesame dressing. The flavors were great, and the dressing was just enough and did not overwhelm the vegetables or weigh down the cabbage, which is often the case in slaws. My last item, the savory chicken salad, was incredible. I honestly cannot say enough good things about it. I’m a self-proclaimed chicken salad snob, and although it is one of my favorite foods, I don’t like just any chicken salad, and most restaurants are not up to par. Balance is key in a good chicken salad, and City Place’s had a perfect balance of flavors, with just enough mayonnaise to hold it together, but not so much that you could taste it. After finishing all this, the pastry case caught my eye. I saw a plethora of mini-cupcakes and tarts, and decided one of these would be the perfect sweet nugget to end my meal. I got the vanilla-caramel cupcake, and I was in love. The buttercream icing was everything it should be, drizzled with caramel, and a delicious vanilla cupcake underneath. It was enough of a sweet morsel to complete my meal but not too much to leave me feeling guilty. I’ll be back in the near future, and I hope to see this business flourish and help revitalize the Wyndhurst area.
