Ok Unilocalers, put your monocles away. There’s no haute cuisine here, just an inexpensive, local town place. There basically are three stars of food show at Santorinis… 1) Avgolemeno Soup — The most perfect, satisfying blend of chicken, rice and lemon ever created. It’s simple, but goes so far on a chilly day when you have a scratchy throat and want some comfort. Santorini’s makes the best avgolemeno soup I’ve ever had, hands down. If I could buy a gallon container and freeze it in small portions for the winter — I would. 2) Greek Salads with a side of Grilled Chicken — Again, another simple dish done well. Chicken is never dry, but moist and tasty with the right amount of char on the side. 3) Chicken Gyros — Honestly, they’re more like a B-list celebrity. Not necessarily your first choice but well liked. Meat can be a little rubbery at times. I’ve never had the pizza, or much else really. I stick to what satisfies me, and you should too. It’s smaller than a shoe-box inside, so get your satisfaction to go.

A great place that is outstanding for takeout & all the essentials are top notch. Friendly owners and workers and are extremely helpful and get the job done. Greek food is second to none and the Italian food is good to very good. Portions are outstanding and price point is good as well. Only drawback is they are not open on Sunday’s. Recommendations include the Gyro Salad and the chicken francese.

I haven’t gotten take out here often, but I’ve experienced the dine in experience a few times. As far as the food goes it is hands down some of the best Italian and Greek food I’ve had on Long Island. If you get their dinner deal it comes with salad, soup, and dessert! The portions here are enormous! Always have some extra food to bring home. I’ve had the broiled salmon, and the Fra Diavolo pasta both were delicious. Only reason this place falls a star shot is because of the restaurant itself. I always appreciate a small hole in the wall restaurateur, but this place is really tiny, and if your dining there it can be uncomfortably crowded, and noisy.

Pardon me, i have never eaten here. The problem is i have been trying to eat here for a year. Three times I came to get food and failed. My family loves pizza and gyros and your reputation says you are good for both. The hours are not typical of a restaurant and this is very frustrating. 1) closed for a holiday(not a major one) which was weird for a restaurant… thank God for Chinese food. 2) 2nd visit they closed the entire shop to go to a wedding 3) are they even open on Sunday’s? I never heard of a restaurant closed on a weekend and they were closed when i went on a Sunday… I have no idea what is going on. I have never tried a restaurant 3 this many times and could not even get in the door.

This little hole in the wall place has been a Lynbrook icon for what seems like generations. The building appears to have been renovated quite significantly recently. The food is top notch Italian/Greek comfort food. My family tends to stick to two items in particular: their gyros and their Greek salad with grilled chicken. Both are incredibly satisfying and make you want more. I always order take-out from them every one-two weeks. A lot of the locals like to eat at the place, which can make it fairly crowded for dinner time. My only critique is that I am not a very big fan of their pizza.

Best Gyro I’ve ever eaten! We order Gyros from here all the time they’re excellent. We’ve also had the Hummus and Lemon Orzo Soup both delicious. We’ve heard from multiple people that the rest of their food is amazing but have yet to try it because the gyros are so good. The staff there is also outstanding. Fast and friendly service. Highly recommended!!!

Santarinis is our local go to place for a cozy, delicious, casual dinner in. East Rockaway. Since Sandy destroyed our house, we had met friends every Monday for dinner and wine until we could replace our kitchen. This went on for weeks, if not months. We were always welcomed by the waiter with a warm hello and great service. It was very comforting. I will never forget it. Now rebuilt, we still like to eat. Salmon, or stuffed cabbage at Santorinis. The food is great and so is the value. We don’t care that is is a small, simple place, because what matters most is the warmest welcome we get and the great food

Let me say that my husband and I eat here at least once a week. My house was destroyed by hurricane Sandy so I haven’t had a usable kitchen for a very long time — so we are lucky to have Santorini so close by! Ok, it’s not a fancy place but we don’t care at all. The prices are beyond reasonable and portions are monster sized. The chef and our usual waiter Paul are just the nicest guys. Our favorite dishes are the salmon(really terrific !) or their stuffed cabbage. They deliver locally but we enjoy getting out of the house and often see friends who now found our secret. You can’t go wrong at Santorini!

My father and his wife come over for dinner every few weeks and always insist on bringing dinner.(no complaints here=) So a few months ago they brought over food from Santorini’s. It looked Italian, they claimed it was Greek, yet besides confusing the hell out of me… tasted GREAT! I really couldn’t believe how good it was. I don’t recall exactly what we got the first time,(now keep in mind this was takeout, and it was amazing I can’t wait to get the food in house) and I loved it. Last night, we had some chicken stuffed with spinach and mushroom, over DELICIOUS rice. We also had some linguine with shrimp, feta cheese, sauce… I honestly have no freaking idea what else they put in there but it was amazing. The Eggplant was a cousin of Italian Rollatini, stuffed with spinach and feta/ricotta and was something out of a sci-fi movie… but actually GOOD unlike sci-fi. The salads were very good too, nothing like an Italian dressing with stuffed grape leaves… seriously I was cracking up at the food but the joke was on me as it was all delicious. Here are some cons I found: The bread they give you looks delicious,(again its like an Italian Focaccia bread) but it lacked salt, entirely. Its texture was off a bit as well. The plain pasta with red sauce was just bad, no hard feelings Santorini’s you make up for it with your entrée’s but might want to go the extra mile on the sides and table breads. Overall, I can’t wait to eat here again even with some hiccups.

My sister took us here before we were heading into the city to go see the Bouncing Souls. We were limited on time, and this little place is near to her apartment we decided to come here. It reminded me of Greek Corner in Franklin Square, or Ali Babas in Valley Stream. A tiny with a few tables great for take out. The place was packed with diners. I was under the impression that this place was a greek restaurant(as my sister explained) but really it seemed to have more of Italian/American choices. Now that I look it up on Unilocal,I see it is listed as Italian. Since I was craving Greek, I ordered the Pasticcio. My sister and finace ordered chicken Gyros. They give a generous portion of bread for the table to start which we all enjoyed. The food took longer than expected to come out(over a half hour) and mine took about 5 – 10 mins longer than theirs. Their sandwiches were yummy and so was the fries. Mine was good, but not what I had expected. I knew it would be reheated because pasticcio is made like lasagna, in a large tray. but this was over cooked/reheated too many times. The top part was very crunchy from being burnt(which I don’t mind) and the noodles were almost soggy because they were reheated so long(I prefer my pasta al dente). It tasted good because I love pasta, but it reminded me of reheated leftovers covered in tomato sauce. The host/waiter/busboy was very friendly & accommodating but almost a little too much. Constantly asking us(and others) if we enjoyed everything, needed anything etc — I am sure he was making up for the long wait. He definitely is a hard worker, and did a job that 3 people should have been doing. My main concern was we just wanted our food and the check because we had to run. I probably should have expressed that we were in a rush but even my sister was surprised at how long everything took. In any case, that was my experience. I do realize it was a busy summer evening and they were very crowded so maybe the staff was on overload and their timing was off. I would definitely come back for their dinner special and try something else.

In 4th grade we made a list of favorites and shared with the class: «color — red, sport — bball, person — my dog, restaurant — Santa Reenies». Our lovely, lovely TA, much to my delight, agreed: «Ohhh Beenn! I love Santorini — I love going there for lunch!» ”.. . Oh Wonderful Woman, I am a San Treenee EX-pert, as they say,” said 9 year-old me. «Please say my name again.» Yes, just like that. And yes, I AM an expert. True fact #1 — 593‑9600 was the 2nd phone # i memorized only after my house phone. True fact #2 — they recognized my voice and identity with just the incomplete phrase: «Hi I’d like to place an…». True fact #3 — my dog was able to predict when the delivery guy would come 2 – 4 minutes before his arrival. We ordered from there all the time because of the variety; greek, italian, american — they have it, and they make it well(True fact #4). Different combos of gyros, moussaka, a good greasy cheeseburger, pork chop over rice, baked ziti, veal parm… And the staff there is really nice. I’m honestly not a fan of their pizza(chewy crust — not in a fresh, doughy way, and too much cheese) so I tell them i want it extra crispy and light on the mozzarella — ‘no problem’, I want my fries crispy too! — ‘ok Suure’, my burger was a little too well last time — ‘got it boss’. and now they know how i like it! and if you get the chance to stop in, it’s tiny and on the same block as a 7-eleven, but there are a few tables and it’s actually quite pleasant eating there. 3 – 4 stars for Italian and American food, 4 stars for Greek(yet to come across a better or greasier gyro — fact #5). Relative to other local spots of both past and present, for everything they offer, and because 9-year old me has a lot of influence on this review — 5 stars. I was away a couple of years, have since returned, and yes, they are still the same nice business and same food and portions. One of the few memories from my childhood that still remains intact — thank you Santorini!
