If you want the playground, be sure to turn on Wright avenue. There’s stuff for kids of all ages from a toddler playground to one for older kids. Plenty of swings too! Or the park itself has plenty of space to go on a walk.

Great Park. Plenty of Sun if you like, Plenty of Shade if you burn. Tables are plentiful. Grills are available for a cookout. Fields are in decent shape, grass is cut although there are a ton of weeds. Bathrooms are extremely clean and the town issues permits pretty easily.

If you are able, save them a place inside of you and save one backward glance when you are leaving for the places they can no longer go. Be not ashamed to say you loved them, though you may or may not have always. Take what they have left and what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own. And in that time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentle heroes you left behind. I love this place. It has become my sanctuary. I relish all my lovely childhood memories in this park. Now as a «grown-up», this is still a place I can go to feel peace and let my thoughts drift away from life’s stresses. Kid to adult, this is one of my favorite places to be. Nostalgia looms deep here. I remember coming here with my parents as a tot, and being pushed on the swings. As I grew, there were wonderful and inexpensive workshops where you could create arts and crafts at the rec center. I made a Christmas wreath there my Mom still puts up every year. In middle school, I was allowed to go out by myself with my friends. There I held hands with my first boyfriend ever. In high school, I was hopelessly in love watching my then boyfriend play basketball in the courts. So, yea, this place has a special spot in my heart. Greis Park has great resources. Large shaded areas to enjoy, fitted with charcoal grills and picnic tables. This is a great way to host a summer party. The recreation center is usually open if you need to use the restroom or grab a drink from a vending machine. Greis has a huge field where many sports events are hosted. There is a baseball/softball area, closer to Horton Ave, which hosts local leagues. It is always bustling with excitement. Every year, Greis hosts the Lynbrook Expo, along with many other fun events that bring our community together. There is a beautiful gazebo right outside the rec center. A great bonus,(if you are a resident,) is the huge pool and a sprinkler area for kids to enjoy(for a very reasonable price.) There is a pool for everyone with a lap lane, a «kiddie» pool with a twisty, turny water slide. It is a great way to spend a day that is for sure. It is clean as a whistle, the lifeguards are always on point, and the staff makes sure everything is in proper, working order. Plenty of lounge chairs and regular chairs to chill on. Now onto the Greis Exercise and Bike Path… This is literally my favorite place(outside,) to go. It runs parallel to the LIRR in Lynbrook where the«woods» used to be. It is still a wooded area, but along the way are exercise stations and a biking and walking path for all to enjoy. It is so quiet and there is something that is beyond relaxing. I spent this entire summer walking the path over and over. Hopefully, when I have a family, they can grow up in this park like I did.

What can I say? I love my town and this park is the hub of all things recreational. The playground itself is wonderful with a sprinkler park(sorry, residents only) and an awesome pool. Annual festivals are held here i.e. Easter Egg Hunt, various carnivals, 4th of July fireworks, Memorial Day, etc and there’s a roller rink and baseball field where the Little League games are held. With proper permits, you could also hold your own private party in the park. There are plenty of park benches and space to accommodate a large crowd. There are often parties going on with DJ’s and bounce houses, etc. The rec center is great and has something for everyone ranging from senior activities to mommy and me programs. The recreation staff is also great, every time I’ve had to deal with them has been a pleasure.
