How often do you really need lumber cut how you like it? If you’re like me that’s not often so when you do have some goofy project you’re passionate about you need the wood cut right the first time. I looked all around OKC for a small mill that could not only cut my lumber but also talk to me about the wood and its usage before I got in over my head. That’s when I found Bob and Debbie at Ridge Runner logging. Debbie gave me a quote over email that fit my budget and timeframe, then Bob cut, stacked, and even helped me load the lumber. Top it off with a good bit of conversation and I’ve found a place I’d be happy to buy from again. Their shop is a little out of the way, about 15 miles down Memorial road for Edmond residents. It sits back on a dirt road in a picturesque rural area surrounded by cedar fencing and watched over by a magnificent(and recently endangered) longhorn bull. The roads are wide enough for a trailer to easily enter and leave without performing one of those 86 point turn-arounds that leave you wishing you’d just ordered online. As you arrive you’ll find your lumber stacked and covered(depending on size) to keep the dust, sun, and bugs off. And if you don’t have a crew of 5000 burly lumberjacks to hut-hut-hut it to your vehicle Bob will help you himself. Now that’s service! Two things of note — 1. Credit card prices are higher by whatever percent the banks charge. 2. The area is gated so you will need to call or email Debbie to make an appointment in order to access the area. Other than that head on out and give them a try. I did and I’ll be doing it again without reservations.
