Eeh… I was hungry and I didn’t have any phone service for Unilocal to help me find somewhere to eat. This place is in the Luray Caverns site so, here I am. Everything was a la carte and very mediocre food. It’s not an extensive menu, but will do until you do get to your real meal elsewhere.

Why the negativity? Don’t come here expecting 5 star dining, but do expect great hometown, friendly service. The selection is very limited to «American» fare — hot dogs, fries, hamburgers, chicken tenders, and… My favorite– ham and cheese sandwich. The prices are reasonable for a tourist trap and I really liked the«rustic» drawings of the menu items. The ladies behind the counter were also super friendly. My ham and cheese sandwich tasted great. True it was buttered up, artificial cheese, with two slices of processed ham, but it was good nonetheless. If you do wanna playa hate the café, there’s not pressure to eat here at all. They have a table area outside, where I could clearly see people picnicking without any hassle

Standard Sysco fare did not expect much. Canteen/carni quality dog, burger, grilled-cheese

The on-site restaurant for Luray Caverns offers a limited café menu and can seat 150 tourists with indoor/outdoor seating. The burgers, sandwiches, coffee, and snack choices won’t excite most family members, but when you are hot and tired sometimes you just need some food and a place with air conditioning. Stalactite Café offers both… barely. We ordered a Pork BBQ Sandwich and a Grilled Cheese with Ham on Wheat Bread. Nothing special, right? Well, those were the best options and both were disappointing. First, the ham was missing from the grilled cheese and the bread was as white as I am. Then, the pork bbq had something I couldn’t chew in it. Didn’t really want to know what it was. In a vacation filled with disappointing meals, this one was memorable for all the wrong reasons. My recommendation is to bring your own picnic lunch or just plan to head into Luray for some food. Only the most desperate of trapped tourists should consider eating at Stalactite Café.
