Been here before and food and service were always fine. Called a couple days ago for take out. I have some food allergies so wanted to ask a couple questions before ordering the risotto. Woman was so rude, didn’t ask kitchen about ingredients but instead was seemingly guessing. Sorry, can’t take a chance on getting sick or worse because you couldn’t go ask kitchen. Didn’t end up ordering.

Enjoyed Bootlegger’s Restaurant last night… Sit outside with a wonderful atmosphere. I had the shrimp and broccoli pizza. Very good except it could have used a little more shrimp and broccoli and WAYLESS cheese… I guess if you are cheese lover, you would like that but if I wanted a cheese pizza, I would have ordered one. One excellent point was that the soft drink had free refills for those who wish to drive.

Awesome restaurants, and bar and service is great. The interior and exterior are newly renovated. I especially like the outdoor seating area and bar. Good food, good prices, great restaurant

This place has a great vibe, Imagine if the food was good? I’ve been here twice really hoping the second time would be better, but it wasn’t… For starters, I know what buffalo mozzarella is. Maybe. most people don’t. but that wasn’t what I was given. Also a caprese salad. doesn’t have iceberg shreds in it. Just basil. I’m also not sure what was going on with the veal. Had it twice now and it’s always overcooked and doesn’t seem fresh. Maybe the pasta is better… maybe I’m just accustomed to better restaurants in Cambridge or Boston. But both times I had a terrible meal that was overpriced. I also have read about homemade chips and bread. I asked for the chips the second time and they were never brought to the table. The two stars are for the server on our first visit who was very attentive and thorough even though it was extremely busy. Overall, a disappointment.

Been there a few times for functions and a few times just for dinner with friends or Family. The outdoor seating area is really nice in the warmer months, with waterfalls and a outdoor bar. But unfortunately the waterfalls outside combined with the warm weather and wooded area surrounding the place its a perfect combination for TONS of mosquitos. I left the last time with my legs covered in bug bites. Maybe they should have the area sprayed or have something to repel the bugs. The inside seating is nice, iv only seen the function areas inside which are nice, the up stairs one is a lot nicer then the basement one(staff coming down to access a supply closet in the middle of the function) as for the service, no matter how busy the place is or actually how not busy it is the food has taken 45 – 55 minutes for dishes to come out. It literally takes forever, most places you start thinking jeeze our food should be here soon and bam here comes your food. Not this place lol think that and then wait another 20 minutes. The food is decent a little expensive. If you get something cheap like chicken Parm it’s a pretty good value, but steaks and seafood gets expensive quick. The beer menu is actually pretty decent with some different craft beers you don’t see at other places. Overall it’s a decent spot, give it a try and decide for yourself

Went for dinner here for the first time last night to take advantage of their Taste of Tuscany deal(offered on Mon and Tues nights). I called ahead and made a reservation just to be safe and Michelle was wonderful on the phone. The Taste of Tuscany deal is a salad, 2 entrees and a bottle of wine for $ 30. Wine was decent, salad was good. I ordered the Gnocchi with Brown Butter and Sage(homemade ricotta gnocchi sautéed in brown butter with pancetta and sage). My date ordered the Bisteca Aglio Olio(grilled 7 ounce, top blade, flat iron steak, sliced and served over fettuccine pasta. Tossed with sautéed wild mushrooms, parsley, shallots, garlic and extra virgin olive oil). Both entrees were delicious. The portions are large, you definitely got your money’s worth. We didn’t see the dessert options — I was stuffed! We sat outside near the waterfall and it was a great ambiance for a date night. Our waitress was friendly, attentive — but not coming over too much either. We decided to stick around a little longer after our meal and ordered martinis. I had the Annie’s Razzmatini and he had the Mango. Both super good. I took a look at their standard menu and saw a lot of good options(most entrees seemed to be in the $ 20 – 25 range). Not a cheap night out but definitely a good date night spot. We will be coming back again!

Never disappointed when I go to The Bootlegger! The staff are always friendly & pleasant, the food is great, and the atmosphere is so much fun! I work in a hotel & send the majority of our guests there & they NEVER come back disappointed. You can go with your family, coworkers, or significant other for a date night. It’s perfect!

After staying away for a while since my last poor meal here(2013), I decided to try Bootlegger again. Sad to say, I should have saved my money and gone elsewhere. At the recommendation of my waitress, I ordered the swordfish. At $ 27 for an entrée, I had high hopes. What I received was a small, thin cut which was dry and overcooked, with lobster risotto and steamed broccoli. The risotto was fine, the swordfish left almost untouched, and the broccoli no better than Green Giant steamed vegetables. When the waitress asked how I liked my meal and I expressed my dissatisfaction, her only remedy was to offer butter for the swordfish??? No offer to replace it or take it off the bill — poor customer service indeed. A huge waste of money for a poor entrée. I would not go back again, nor would I recommend.

I came to this restaurant tonight with my Aunt, Uncle and Mother. My Mom and I are from out of state. Our waitress, Valerie was great! She was sweet and Very knowledgeable! I have food allergies(all fish and all nuts) and Valerie was very good about it and said she’d make sure that the chef knew. I got the tomato basil soup which was very good with chunks of tomato in it, and my Mom and Aunt got salads– they said they were very fresh and crisp and the dressing was fabulous. turns out it was homemade! My family then got the stuffed mushrooms(stuffed with seafood so it was off limits to me). They were raving about it– the seafood dressing was apparently tasty and it had a white wine sauce poured over it with cheese melted on top. For dinner, my Mom got the Tour of Italy with chicken, veal and ravioli in a red sauce and claimed that it was delicious. «The ravioli was stuffed with ricotta, the veal and chicken were tender and the sauce was tasty.» My uncle had the crab cakes(an appetizer) for dinner and claimed that they were«excellent crab cakes.» My aunt got the veal marsala. She was stuffed already but had a few bites and said it was excellent. I got the chicken in the onion marsala sauce and I asked for it over the creamy polenta instead of the mashed potatoes and for a few bucks extra, it was the perfect decision! The polenta was creamy and had some sort of cheese in it to make it even thicker and creamier. The chicken was cooked well and the sauce had the perfect balance of sweet and salty. I’m a huge fan of marsala sauces and their onion marsala sauce was fabulous. We were too stuffed for dessert but I’m hoping the next time we come to visit my aunt and uncle that we get to try dessert. Our waitress said that they have an outdoor patio that has music pretty much every day. The décor reminded me of the roaring twenties which is what they were obviously going for. Everyone was very nice and courteous. We will be back!

I understand a Thursday evening can be busy. However, to have a reservation days in advance, and yet be told we have to wait for tables to be cleared, and then to wait about 40 minutes? What is the point of a reservation, then? I actually felt bad for our waitress because it appeared you guys may have been understaffed. She did a good job considering the situation. That being said, it seemed a request to split a bill was a hassle for her, only to have her split the bill at the end of the meal anyway. We were totally fine with having the bill all together given how stressed it seemed to make her, but this wasn’t a 20-person table. We had about 6 people seated at the time and we hadn’t even ordered yet. Why is this the end of the world? The food was sub-par. Based on prices, you’d think the quality would be top notch. In the past, food at the Bootlegger was delicious. Not sure what has changed. Maybe the cooks? The menu? But the prices went up and the food quality has gone down. Probably the worst part was the karaōke that night. You had 4 singers rotating, and when one of our people asked to sing we were told a rap song with no swears might be inappropriate for the crowd, only to have the current singer scream out a cuss word two seconds after the DJ said this. No, really… Also, I was yelled at for not cutting in front of a singer to request a song, going on the other side of the table instead, because apparently someone tripped on that side a previous night and hit their head against the fake waterfall? Um, maybe let’s relocate the table at that point, and not make a customer feel uncomfortable by scolding them for not interfering with a person singing. If a customer almost cracks their head open by tripping on your wires, your DJ table is poorly located. If you are going to have karaōke at your venue, please let your customers feel comfortable singing there. Whether it be the song they want to sing, or the fact they don’t want to get in the way of other singers. Otherwise, it’s really loud noise on your outdoor patio with the same 4 regulars singing for 3 and a half hours. Not good. Or, if you want to come off as upscale and fancy for the area, maybe ditch the karaōke. I generally like karaōke and this felt awkward. Lastly, we were offered bug spray by your staff because the mosquitos were so bad. We didn’t ask for it. It was offered because they knew how bad it was. Maybe better to do something about that other than asking customers to spray themselves? Professional treatment, torches, something? Just a thought. It’s only June and this will only get worse over the next month or so.

More like 3 ½ stars. Not the best Italian food I’ve had, but still homemade comfort style. Tried the eggplant parm served on linguine, broccolini, oysters Rockefeller, salad with carmelized apples, pizza and meatballs. Very relaxed, nice leisurely meal outside. Probably biggest complaint was no grated Parmesean on the table, nor was it offered to us.

It always nice to have a locally owned restaurant remain consistent over time. We recently visited the Bootlegger restaurant in Lunenburg and enjoyed a fabulous dinner with friends. The scallops wrapped in bacon were delicious, the salmon was perfect and the wine list was very extensive with great selection. I highly recommend the Bootlegger for a quiet dinner or weekend entertainment

Bootlegger restaurant offers a gluten free menu. One of the largest selection I have been offered. Even a gluten free dessert was available. Yummy ! The swordfish with lobster risotto. There where large piece of lobster meat. I did not leave anything on my plate ! The poppy seed salad dressing is Devine !! A group of work friends came for dinner on Tuesday dinner and had the 30 couple with bottle of wine ! Great value. The waitress’s Service was like being at a family’s house for dinner. So attentive and friendly. A hello to Michelle for a taking the time to show us the outside patio looks GREAT ! Looking forward to our next visit to Bootleggers.

The Bootlegger has become one of my favorite places for dinner and drinks or just drinks! The atmosphere is always great. You have multiple options for seating… there is a bar on the main level as well upstairs. The outdoor patio is always a good time as well when the weather gets nice! Seating around the firepit makes for a nice spot to relax after dinner with friends and just enjoy each other’s company. Monday and Tuesday nights are a great deal with the taste of Tuscany. It’s a salad, 2 entrees and a bottle of wine for $ 30. I wasn’t sure what to think when I went and looked at the menu but it far exceeded my expectations! Allan the owner is phenomenal as well! He is always around making sure everything is ok! All of the staff is top notch! I most definitely recommend the bootlegger to everyone when they’re looking for someplace to try! Bravo for an amazing restaurant!

Food: 2.5 Stars Service: 4 Stars Parents and I came for brunch on a weekend as we were heading up to a state park nearby. This seemed like one of the only promising options in the area so we headed in. The décor I will say is truly interesting. It really feels like something out of the 1920s in terms of the art in the rooms and color schemes. The food was a little bit subpar in my opinion. The complimentary bread they brought out tasted very strange, not fresh even though it was warm. It reminded me of white bread that you got in the supermarket, but not exactly that because it wasn’t chewy, it just sort of melted into powdered dough in your mouth. I also couldn’t quite figure out what the dipping sauce was, it wasn’t pure olive oil for sure. The portions for our brunch entrees were really large. I got the eggs benedict which was decent, but the potatoes were a little bit on the dry side. My parents got the lasagna and a salmon. Both were ok but neither was anything special. It’s a decent place if you’re looking for something that’s sit down in the area, but probably can get a better dining experience if you look in a larger town area. Service was great though! the waitress was very friendly and helpful.

I had my college graduation dinner in 2013 at the Bootlegger on the back patio with a party of 12, and the staff was impeccible. All of our needs were met and then some. The food is delicious, no matter what you order. The drinks are stiff but flavorful, my favorite is the X-Rated Kiss Martini, which I actually don’t think they have anymore. I’m sure if you asked they could whip it up, though. I’ve been back several times since that dinner, and have yet to be disappointed. My favorite thing ever is visiting Nancy at the outdoor bar, and sitting around the new fire pit while I sip on my ‘tini hayyyyyyyyy

hands down, best upscale restaurant in the area! beautiful interior design with lovely crystal chandeliers, and a romantic ambiance at dinner time. for a more casual feel, ask to sit in the lounge area where there are high tops and comfy booths where you can see the keno and sports TVs. to start off, ask for the homemade potato chips and horseradish dill sauce which are complimentary. If you’re in an Italian mood, they also give bread and oil. For appetizers, try the calamari or the day boat scallops! The dinner menu is extensive offering Italian classics, seafood, steaks and more. seafood trio pasta dish is amazing, along with the swordfish over lobster risotto! Finish with homemade tiramisu! you won’t be disappointed!

Things have gone downhill since the renovation. We used to love coming here, but the it seems that along with the décor, the service and food has changed as well. The dining room’s old charm is gone, replaced with generic black and gray interior. They also added exterior seating, though I don’t know why you would want to sit outside overlooking Mass Ave. We’ve only come back twice since the renovation, and both times were disappointing. Service was particularly bad on our last visit — the server seemed to have no clue what he was doing. Food was equally lackluster. My husband always looked forward to their prime rib, but it just wasn’t the same. While our last two meals weren’t terrible, they weren’t great either. Maybe we’ll come back again sometime in the future to give it another try, but probably not anytime soon.

Objects on the inside were nicer than they appeared(from the outside). I came here for lunch after helping a friend move back to the area, and she said her family had been coming here for many years. I thought the outside was a bit nondescript, but I was pleasantly surprised upon entering. I can understand why her family likes the place. We were given the option of outdoor or indoor dining. We chose indoors, and asked about a choice of seating in the bar: at the bar, bistro tables, or very comfortable booths. There are no bad seats here. The bar is bright with quite a few seats around 3 sides. The menu also offered a lot of variety, both for food and drink. I’m surprised I had any room for a meal after starting with the warm, dense bread and olive oil steeped with cloves of roasted garlic. We ordered a variety of salads and sandwiches, all of which were served quickly. My sandwich, grilled chicken with pesto, tomato and fresh mozzarella cheese, came with a generous portion of fries. Service was friendly and prompt. I need to help more people move to this area.
