Ixtapa Mexican Grill & Cantina

The salsa they serve here is legitimate Mexican magic. I want 10 gallons. Along with the chips! I want to build a beautiful ship made of these chips and sail an ocean made of delicious salsa and happiness. The service here was excellent as well, I wish I could go everyday of my life.

This ixtapa location is hands down the best by far. If it were a bit closer to the city I’d be coming here every other day.

Excellent service. Manager came over to the table to check on us. The tortilla soup is amazing!

Not bad for what it is. The food is decent, nothing special, kind of bland and mushy. The margarita I had was bitter and not good. People iv talked to said the drinks were not great. But the price is cheap compared to more up scale establishments around. I’ll leave it at this till I go there again and can write a more detailed review

We love ixtapa! We usually do one takeout night a week and it’s almost always here. Staff are wonderful, food is great. We’ve never had an issue!

I enjoyed my meal. The chimichanga was very good with nicely pulled pot in a just right sauce. The refried beans were yummy and I enjoyed the rice as well. The staff were attentive and timely in their service. Yes, I will be back.

Wifey likes it so we keep going back. Service is hit or miss. Sometimes great, sometimes horrible. Salsa has a soapy taste to me, but others in my party don’t agree. Definitely has a fly problem. I don’t think we’ve gone once without a couple flies landing on our table.
All of that said, I like their steak fajitas, and wifey loves their cancun quesadilla.

Down hill. It’s on a hill but it’s gone way downhill since my last visit. It’s like someone took over and took all the good parts away. The wait staff wasn’t friendly nor appeared happy at all. The food was just okay: I ordered a steak fajita and it came out warm, but not sizzling/​steamy on the cast iron plate. I noticed that no other patrons came out sizzler either. I asked the waitress and she said the manager told the kitchen to stop that. My wife’s fajita salad was SMALL. Side salad small. Our friend’s meals were so-​so. Drinks were also smaller than before. It just seemed the place cheaped out. I asked other friends and they said they had heard or had had the same downgraded experience as we did. Hey Ixtapa: fix it!!!

Yahoo!!! A wonderful dinner meal. The Ixtapa enchiladas were out of this world for me! The salsa is my favorite. Haven’t tried the margaritas yet. Prices reasonable!!!

Ixtapa Lunenburg is awesome! Fun place to go to for big delicious (strong!) margaritas and some good food! They keep the chips and salsa coming — excellent salsa. I am a fan of the nachos with fajita-​style grilled chicken as well as the enchiladas trios. Big portions, I’m always bringing home leftovers. Wicked good refried beans and rice as well. If you order a side of it they bring an unexpectedly giant plate of them! Also they make guacamole right at the table side that you can «customize» to your liking. I have not tried too much more of the menu because I like the enchiladas too much to order anything else. It might not be the most gourmet or authentic of Mexican food but I think it is a delicious, fun and clean restaurant with good service.
This is definitely the best Ixtapa location out of the 3!

I have frequented this Ixtapa and many others and must say that this one is a cut above the rest. The service is friendly and usually quick.
My girlfriend and I nuzzled up to the bar and ordered a couple of spot-​on margaritas, her a raspberry. They packed a punch and were well worth the price. The chips and salsa served to every customer were good, especially the salsa. Then I had a quesadilla and my vegetarian girlfriend a spinach enchilada. Both were cooked perfectly and gooey t a T.
Bathrooms were clean and restaurant looked alright. It was a good experience.

My wife, my son and I stopped here on our way back from the ma baseball state championship in Pepperell after losing our last game. We needed a pick me up and this was a great end to a great weekend! My wife and I have both have lived in Mexico and enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine which is hard to find in the northeast. On a Sunday the restaurant was busy but the service was on the mark getting us water and drinks right away, ordering our food quickly, and giving good recommendations. The kitchen worked efficiently and the food was fresh, tasty, and authentic! The portions were generous and the margarita was a solid pour. We ordered the shrimp tacos, the enchiladas trio, and the veggie ixtapa which were all great and we would order them
again without question. Overall a great experience and I wish I had this restaurant in my hometown! My wife adds that the chips and salsa were fresh and hot, the décor was festive, and the bathrooms were clean! Nice job Cantina Ixtapa!

Have been to this location twice. The quality is well above the price. The margaritas (get the ultimate for the extra 50 cents) are excellent and large. The sopa azteca is awesome if you like fish. The sopa albondigas is also top notch. It’s basically a soup with pork meatballs that have a delicious mint spice blend. My 8 yr old got the steak and chicken fajitas and was literally doing the happy dance while he ate them… No really!
The food is somewhere in between that authentic Mexican food you get at the cafeteria style places where no one speaks English and family style tex Mex.
On a side note the one in Acton is not nearly as good. It almost seems like they have a completely different recipe book. If you’re thinking bout going there take the extra 30 min ride to Lunenburg. It’s worth it!

My husband raves about the fish tacos. My quesadilla was a little soggy but overall a good experience.

Amazing Mexican food at great prices. The portions are huge and the bottomless chips and salsa are fantastic as well. Can’t wait to go again. You have to try fish tacos or the shrimp ixtapa. Probably the best real Mexican food I’ve ever had. They also have a great beer and wine selection. The customer service is great and the atmosphere is fun and bright. Do yourself a favor and try it out.

Well, tried again tonight. More meh than last time, they really bring the lulz.
It doesn’t seem to matter though, the place is packed with locals.
I ordered:
1) tacos al pastor: they gave about a T of meat, and clearly microwaved store-​bought tortillas! Who does that!!! Not even in my most foggy of college hazes. Ok, well maybe then… :) but for real, who does that. You can tell when they are wrinkly and hard. Nice job.
2) fajita nachos: we did modify this order, so I was worried they’d mess it up. And they did. I will say the steak was flavorful though. Just not what I ordered. Wife got to cook my daughter dinner as a result. Thanks!
3) tortilla soup: pretty hard to mess up, it was OK. Way too many tortillas mushed in there though. Skimpy on the meat.
So, maybe in another 5 years I’ll forget and try again.

I understand why this place has such mixed reviews. This place is just ok. Some things are good, some others not. Overall my meal was decent, the rice and beans good, everything else ok. The chips have a strange flavor. It’s rare that my family doesn’t go through 2 or 3 baskets of chips. We didn’t even finish one basket! The margaritas are so delicious, I would come back for that. Otherwise I won’t be back.

This place is amazing. The salsa is perfect. Had the chicken flautas and they were great. Good service as well.

not impressed with this place. The place was dingy & dirty. Had a Caribbean salad and the lettuce tasted like dish soap. i ate the canned fruit off of it along with the grilled chicken. won’t be coming here again

Worth the drive. Everytime I go here we are greeted with smiles and great staff. Try the taco salad. The bowl is made out of, tortilla chips and it is to die for. The vegetarian options also were outstanding and very delicious
