Everything was great with my visit here. Went thru the drive thru and the staff could not have been any friendlier. Destiny gave us our food along with«extra» ketchup that my daughter requested! And sorry I can’t remember his name, but the cutie at the first window –Colby/Cory– with the really country accent was a sweetheart! And as always– the food was perfect and tasted great.

I grew up in the South East Texas area, but moved away before this Whataburger was built. I’ve been here a handful of times since then, and the experience is always pleasant. I mean, it’s Whataburger! On this particular trip, we were cruising through Lumberton after leaving a long weekend at the lake, a short stop at a Funeral, and were desperate to get back to Houston. Well, this Whataburger was like an oasis in the middle of the Sahara. I imagined buckets of sweet tea, filling my gaping maw with hot and salty french fries, and topping it all off with a patty melt. We came through at mid-afternoon, and was happy to see an empty dining room and a fully-staff kitchen. The counter help greeted us extremely cheerfully, and was one of those folks who never meet a stranger. Seriously, we knew more about her from our time there than I knew about myself. She was friendly and cheerful, and almost over-the-top with it. The tea was not as sweet as it usually is. This is both good and bad though. Too sweet, and it’s hard to drink. Not sweet enough and it’s terrible.(My apologies to those who prefer unsweet tea.) This was just shy of perfect. Still drinkable, but not great. The fries were fried to perfection and had to have been cooked just for us.(Smothered in spicy ketchup? Lord, I know what I’m having for lunch.) The patty melt(easy on the onion) was also heaven-sent. I’m hungry again.
