My first time yesterday at the Hot Wok in Lumberton. It was great and I will return. The big surprise was the cost for the lunch buffet. $ 4.99, but beyond that the food was great.

Typical quick-eat Chinese restaurant. Food was cheap but good. We ate there and the service was quick and friendly. Loved their cheese wontons! Got quite a few and they were filled good for the cheap price. Beef lo mein noodles were also a good portion. Meat was a little off but that is expected with the price we paid. Good quick take out for a rainy day!

This is our go-to Sunday takeout choice. The General Tso’s chicken is the jam! Always made fresh to order and free drinks on the house! So glad to support a local place.

Haven’t been here in a while but decided to pick some up for dinner last night: wonton soup, House Special Mein Fun and General Tso’s… It was great!!! The restaurant itself does not appear as clean as I personally like, but the food is outstanding and freshly prepared. If it wasn’t for the appearance of the restaurant this would Definitely be a 5 star rating!

For the price, you get a very generous amount of food. The last few times I have been, the food was cooked on order, instead of sitting out like most Chinese places. The selection on the menu is huge. I will be returning again and again.

Food is good! Buffet is cheap! Great General Tso’s and fried wontons! Egg drop soup is good for take-out! Tea is good and take out orders are abundant! Plenty if food for multiple people! Generic drinks, don’t expect name brands!

When we lived in Lumberton this place was my go to for take out. They have the best egg foo yung in the area. I also enjoy the fried wontons, egg rolls, and sweet and sour chicken. We love the buffet, although very small, the food is fresh. The hot an sour soup is also a must have. Now that we have moved to Beaumont I still will occasionally make the trip to Lumberton just for to get my fix. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

I started going to Hot Wok when this place first opened maybe 8 years ago or so. Truly, I’m surprised that this place is still in business, especially given how many other businesses in this small shopping center in the Wal-Mart parking lot open and close in a very quick amount of time. In high school, this place was the first Chinese or Asian food in general in Hardin County to open up for us, so it was very welcome. I’d go here frequently with pals and always enjoyed it until one time when I attempted to eat a combo meal that came with a standard fried rice. I think it must have been tiny cubed pork pieces, but whatever it was, I found disgusting. And I just went here a few weeks ago with family and they still serve that standard recipe, so while it doesn’t work for me, it must be working in general. Their buffet is right at or maybe less than $ 5 per person at lunch, but only has about 10 tins of food, not a large buffet like many of the Chinese restaurants in Southeast Texas. It had small cream cheese wontons, sesame chicken, fried rice, and some other standard items. After the bad experience with fried rice, I’ve stuck to ordering the appetizer order of wontons, which has for many years cost me only $ 4.60 for I think 5 or 6 large cream cheese wontons and a big side order of delicious, bright red sweet and sour sauce. Despite occasionally needing that fried goodness, I have *serious* concerns about the cleanliness of this place. It stinks. Big time. There are flies everywhere, the kitchen visibly looks disgusting, the bathroom is right next to the counter, the chairs are filthy, just not a place that I want to be in. Maybe the place scores okay with the health department, but I strongly recommend that if you can stomach the food, you take it to go.
