I have been meaning to brag and rave and cheer the rain café for having the best French toast breakfast I’ve ever had It is the perfect combination of thick and moist and crispy on the outside topped with fresh fruit and powdered sugar it is paired perfectly with eggs and sausage I definite place to go back to take someone. Time your visit well it gets busy on weekend mornings I had to come back and get it again. Same as before great. !! Dec 22

OMG… French Toast is awesome. Everything about breakfast is to die for… Make sure to add chorizo to the beans.

Super yummy! I had the veggie omelette with hashbrowns and toast. Everything came out pretty quick and the service was great considering how busy it was. I will definitely return! Can’t wait to try the French toast breakfast.

Good local dinner. Had breakfast/lunch and everyone enjoyed their meal. Service was good considering it was busy Sunday noontime with a line at the door. They had a TV in the corner with the Cowboys game. They have a small number of healthy choices on the menu.

Solid place for breakfast in Lubbock, I would probably say these are some of the best French toast I’ve had in a restaurant my breakfast was yummy and I will be back here for breakfast soon.

Awesome food… chicken fried chicken breakfast was great. Everything was good and tasty. Service was not up to normal. Had to flag down other server for coffee twice. But food was worth it… We eat here 2 weekend days a month.

The food is to die for. The cheese sticks rival the famous Spanky’s staple. Order is always correct and delicous. The service is attentive and timely. the prices are fair. Again, the food is amazing. I highly reccommend the ceusted french toast with bacon.

I’ve lived in Lubbock for 5 years and have been looking for a «mom & pop» type of café and finally found it. I’ve been in 3 times now with my wife and between us, have had the Club sandwich, a Philly Cheese-steak, chicken fried steak and breakfast. The food has always been of good quality, good taste and more than I could eat. I will probably bring my in-laws the next time they visit because along with being really good food, their prices were more than reasonable, about $ 20 — $ 23 for two people. I’ve had three different servers and all three have been delightful. I would recommend this to anyone looking for good food at a good price in Lubbock.

Not fancy, but the food is decent. I went here for Sunday breakfast with the hubs, and although the place was pretty packed, we were seated quickly and the service was not too bad. I ordered the pancakes, eggs and bacon, and my husband ordered an omelette. Both meals were good but nothing extraordinary. Fair prices and clean restaurant.

Great café! Clean, great and friendly service, and excellent food! I have never been disappointed with Rain Café. Highly recommend for a casual and relaxed weekend breakfast. Reasonably priced.

A «Run-A-Way Bill» Favorite !!! With all the wrong choices in this world it amazes me how I discover such«memorable» food … The«Rain Café» would a comfort zone for me if I lived in Lubbock, TX. My server Nancy always served pleasantly & with a super smile … The«encrusted» French toast & «crispy» bacon were super appetizers to the chocolate cake desert … yummmm! Thanks again pARTy Gods !!! p.s. warm syrup in a thermos … gotta love it!

Let’s get down to it. The breakfast was tasty and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is casual and great for visiting with friends. It’s kid friendly so bring the family. The décor is hideous. If this were my place I would try to make it feel like a big city diner(New York, or Chicago) dropped into this dusty, Texas town. The staff are prompt and courteous. Neighborhood regulars frequent this place. I am definitely coming back with friends.

Just good food, nice people. It has just basic home style cooking for a good price! It can get really crowded on the weekend mornings, but worth it!

hands down the best chicken fried steak ever… they make it in a ‘senior’ size for those of you without the interest in eating one the size of a plate since that is the only thing I’ve ever had at Rain, I reserve the 5th star for when I am just not in the mood for CFS… not sure why that would ever happen

Very similar to Red Zone Café only smaller. Waitresses know all the older farmers who are in with their wives, having coffee and shooting the breeze. Great place to get breakfast and feel like a local West Texan :) Feels like being in your own comfortable neighborhood, even if you just moved to Lubbock. Food is regular breakfast & sandwich stuffs, but done well and most plates are between $ 2-$ 6(how can you beat that?). I did bring my parents here with the intention of taking them to the other(more upscale) restaurant with«Rain» in the name, but I was fine arriving here, too!

So I’m sitting in Rain Café right now. I don’t think I’ll be sitting here again. When you sit at the be you get to see alot of what happens in the kitchen. So, here is what I saw — the good bad and ugly. An unbattered steak which was to become chicken fried steak was on the counter for thirty minutes before it was battered, fried and served up. A kitchen hand cleaned the area under a toaster by blowing the crumbs on the floor. Now, I’ll say that about 5 minutes after someone was sweeping the kitchen, but the offending blow moved the crumbs outside of the kitchen so it wasn’t really swept. I salad was prepared and left out for 20 minutes while they cooked some grilled chicken to put on top. I was noting how they were using the fryer — at first I thought they had a mean and a vegetable(fries) fryer. That proved to be untrue because they moved chicken fried steak from one fryer to another. I saw fries that were taken out of they fryer, sat for about 5 minutes before the last bit was put on someone’s plate, however it wasn’t enough(even the waitress said something) — so they started a new batch which took another 5 minutes to fry and then put the fresh fries over the cold ones. I’ve tried not being negative here. The wait staff was extremely nice, everyone was apologetic about the delays in preparing the food, etc. But in the end, those niceties don’t outweigh the poor kitchen habits. If you are the kind of person that likes a greasy spoon — this might fill the need. There were certainly a lot of people there enjoying Sunday brunch. Save your money for Rain Uptown or go to Home Café instead. BTW — the second star was for the service.

Expect some chaos here on a Sunday morning. Then again, what breakfast place ISN’T chaotic on a Sunday morning? At first we weren’t sure whether to wait to be seated, but quickly learned it is a «seat yourself”/hunt for a table situation. After experiencing the JOY that is Rain Uptown, this place was a MAJOR disappointment. Although the prices weren’t bad, the food left a lot to be desired. All we had were burgers, but I think we almost would have been better off getting a burger from Burger King or a burger stand down the road. It wasn’t really all that great or worth dealing with the chaos in the establishment. They clearly need to hire more waitresses because the ones that were working were so busy they couldn’t adequately focus on *any* of their tables. Plus, the atmosphere is so loud, you can’t even hear yourself or whomever you’re dining with. I say do yourself a favor and just head to Rain Uptown and have a good, peaceful meal there.
