My dryer had not been working for a couple of days and I figured it was time to get someone to come out and repair it. Not only did he show up within a few hours, he told me that replacing my dryer would be the cheaper option and that he would not even feel comfortable fixing it for me because he felt like that would be a safety hazard for me in the future. On top of it all, he didn’t charge me a cent for it. I would absolutely recommend him for any appliance repairs Unilocalers may have in the LBK area.

Mr. Pipes dealt with my wife, so my review is an admitted vicarious one since I did not have the pleasure of dealing with him. The challenge we were having was with our dryer, which was squeaking and squealing loud enough to cause epilepsy in the Obenhaus household. I found these great reviews on Unilocal and we were not disappointed. Our problem was quickly diagnosed and quickly corrected. Mr. Pipes does what he needs to do to get people back on their feet with appliances. My only involvement was seeing the final bill, and for the work that was performed, it was extremely reasonable. Big houses like Sears would have charged almost as much just to have the basic service call. Bypass all of this and go to the guy that will fix it without any upselling or upcharging.

I need to cook this man 14 pans of brownies! I called him on recommendation from a sweet lady at a local plumbing company (I didn’t know who to call).
Here was my problem: I had lost me very small and thin wedding band in my washing machine. I could see a small seam between the agitator (learned what that was called) and the outer circumference of the basket. I was worried my band had fallen into this crack.
Lane told me to pull up in the agitator and it should have some give and then look around in there. AND I FOUND IT! He was so nice and said he was glad j found it because he didn’t want to come out there and waste my money for something so small. I really appreciate that. He was super nice and celebrated with me on the phone when I found it!
If I ever really do need an appliance guy I will absolutely be calling him.

I had Mr. Pipes fix my dryer not long ago, and he did a fabulous job! And he was very reasonably priced. After his repair, I decided not to renew my contract with the company that used to fix my appliances.

I’ve always been very pleased with Layne Pipes repair work. Today he came out and repaired a refrigerator for me. In the past he’s repaired washing machines, stove tops, ovens, and clothes dryers (not all at my house … some at my mother-in-law’s house and daughter’s house.)
He does good work, leaves the place clean when he’s done, and does a great job for an honest price.

Glad I read the reviews. Mr Pipes was very friendly, prompt and did a great job. I’ll be calling him from now on! Got an appointment within a few hours, the only reason for the delay was him getting the part. Would highly recommend him!

My Mom (84) called Layne and asked him to repair her washing machine. When he got to her home, the washer was working already, without him touching it! He wouldn’t charge her a service call, even though it’s standard practice for any service in the home.
Thank you Layne, for you kindness and generosity. Mom had a delightful conversation with you!

If Lane fixes it, it is fixed. I have used Lane for well over 10 years. The longest I have ever had to wait for him to get there is 24 hours. He explains the problem, how he will fix it and how not to have the problem return. Before I buy and appliance I ask Lane if he likes the brand and if he will work on it. Can not tell you how many times I have recommended Lane to others.

I’m with Andrea on this one. I called Lane Pipes at 8:30 on a Monday morning and he showed up at 10:15 a.m. and had the heating element on my clothes dryer changed out and working by 10:45 a.m.
Mr. Pipes was professional, courteous, and knew what he was doing. I will be using him from now on for my appliance repairs.
After he was finished with the job, he asked me how I found out about him so I always love the opportunity to sit down and deliver a Unilocal training session. He was able to relate Unilocal to Angie’s List but I told him Unilocal is free and it’s the customers who usually rate the services. Thank you, Andrea for recommending!

Mr. Pipes is one of a rare breed! When our oven went on the fritz, he was there EXACTLY when he said he would be. He gave us a chance to try something that would potentially fix the break that was cheaper. When it, too, didn’t stay fixed, he returned to fix it without additional labor costs (just parts). AND he told me the secret of why this particular part tends to break (self cleaning ovens and their thermostats) so I could avoid it in the future.
He also was so very kind to my little girl and didn’t mind when she wanted to «help»…I will most definitely call Mr. Pipes for any and all of my future home appliance repair needs.
