This place is delicious! Its a nice romantic place. I would not take children here but would go on romantic dinner. The shrimp alfredo is so so good. The best I’ve ever tasted. Very rich and some cajun spice. You must try this place can even call in orders to go. This place is worth the wait for the bread and pasta. The service is very slow so go on a day when you have time.

Came in to town for a weekend and we were looking for a nicer place to have a decent dinner. We walk in on a Friday night around 8 and its a ghost town — that was sign #1. The waiter comes, takes our order, and delivers the bread to the table. That is the one saving grace of this place — the bread is great. I ordered a sandwich because I’m a very picky eater and it was okay, nothing outstanding about it. My dining buddy ordered the gumbo and had to hunt for the sausage and shrimp. After discovering perhaps 5 pieces of both, he sadly looked at the rice remaining and polished it off. The price that we paid for the food and the service was way too much. The food is average at best and for the cost, next time I’ll go to… well…any other restaurant in town.

I don’t know why this place rates so low on Unilocal. They serve a spectacular authentic dish at a very reasonable price. This is not a high end restaurant so the decorations are very basic, but you go here for good food. If you care more about decorations go to Jazz for nasty food in a better decorated environment. For someone wanting to escape from Lubbock’s bland restaurants, give this place a try.

The bread was wonderful but the rest of the food was not that great. The jambalaya came out cold/cool and there was an obvious lack of sausage or shrimp… Two main ingredients of jambalaya. I guess one good thing is that it have rice in it. It was a unique place and something I would probably try again. I hear good things of friends and coworkers. The live jazz music was pretty good.

Chef Michael is a true master of Cajun/Creole food. My husband is from New Orleans and he is VERY hard to please. Granted, they have had some fits and starts with servers, but it’s the best food north of NOLA, fo’sure. Order the red beans and rice, crawfish étouffée and shrimp po boy. You won’t be disappointed.

Ok ~ the service was slow, but to be fair, the owner Michael had sacked 3 of the kitchen helpers that very day. I ordered the sampler appitizer to start and boy am I glad I did!!! It was«to die for». Lubbock suffers from the«Chilies syndrome», meaning that all the restaurants serve the same food or it all smells and tastes basically the same. Not here! I ordered a Shrimp Po-Boy, but I wanted to know where the french bread came from? They claim it is brought in from NOLA and when they served me I knew they were right. I lived in NOLA for 5 years, so I know what a Po-Boy SHOULD taste like and it did and then some. Now I want to order one of every item they have before they fold up. The downtown location can only hurt them in the long haul. Their lunch menu will have to be less expensive to carry them, but the food is so excellent that it will be hard to make a living. I LOVE it and will return again and again. Eve A.

Chef/owner is actually from NOLA, so its pretty authentic. Very charming guy and makes sure to visit each table. Will try to add more cajun/creole items on the menu but its hard since it is west texas. Raved about this place to many friends last year when they first opened. and they stay pretty busy for lunch, and slow for dinner. Quite expensive for LBK but the gumbo, ettouffee, poboys, porkchops and bread pudding were authentic. The soups were too salty and all the entrees used lots of butter and cream. Really hoped this place would succeed, bc they are the only true creole place in town and variety is the spice of life, but we had a very unpleasant lunch with my colleagues there. The wait staff decided to not serve any muffins that come to every table, refill the drinks(no fountain drinks, canned generic soda) and also to double charge for a sandwich… Now I worked in food service for many years and are usually very understanding. I always tip 20% or more for decent service, especially in a college town. But this was just too much, I asked her politely to remove the double charge and she refused, even returning from the back kitchen to ask the owner and the answer was still no, bc I had chosen 2 different toppings for one poboy, so I had to pay for 2. Fine, I paid $ 18 for a poboy and a drink and left. I checked my account the next day and she added a 20% tip on her own… I called the owner immediately but he said he would have to meet me and I have to show him the reciept. I decided to just call the credit card company and have them take care of it. 1 month later they called and said the owner only refunded the bill partially. I did not have the time to pursue it further but this kind of stuff should not happen in a local family type of place, especially if the owner is on site and its not busy. Sadly I certainly would not be back, nor my collegues and friends.
