Six years ago we got our first dog(Prince) from Lydia and eight months after that, our second dog(Ming), that she brought back from Taiwan! It was a wonderful experience. She was especially helpful, spending the whole day with me, when she brought the second dog to us! I can never thank her enough for these wonderful pets :)

About 9 months ago, we go our beloved beagle, Kukui(then Mimi), from Special Pets Rescue. I also found Kukui on where they had a video of her. From the moment I contacted Lydia, we began exchanging emails and phone calls for a little over 2 weeks. She emailed and called me back in a timely manner, and we were finally able to meet Kukui at the Pet Food Express store in Petaluma, CA. I believe they hold adoption events at this store maybe once a month. Their adoption rules are not very strict as said in the previous review, but they do ask you questions on why you want that type of breed/dog, and they ask you to email pictures of your backyard. I think they want to make sure the fence and backyard area is large enough. The adoption fee is $ 250, and that includes all their shots and a microchip already placed in them. Lydia had actually brought Kukui over from Taiwan on an adoption exchange program. She had gone over there for a month, and brought back Kukui to the states to put up for adoption. Kukui also had a broken leg that she had 2 surgeries for and now has a plate in her leg. As Lydia told us, she has never had any further problems with the leg, and she runs around as much as her leg can handle! I’m so happy I found Kukui and Special Pets Rescue! She has been the best dog for my family and I and we all love her so much.

My very loved Tibetan Spaniel mix came from Special Pets Rescue 2.5 years ago. I found her on and shortly after having sent my online application, I was contacted by Lydia, one of the ladies who run the rescue group. The group is run by young Vet Tech students(seemed like), and they take good care of animals, and they do want the best for their rescues. Lydia brought Ashley to San Francisco for us to meet with her medical record, and a week later, I went to pick her up in Lower Lake after so many email question sessions. Also since they are very small groups, rules are not very strict, but they like to know your dedication towards animal care and try to make the best out of the matchmaking. Ashley passed 3 months ago, but I cannot thank Special Pets Rescue enough for matchmaking us and saving her from animal shelter.
