Great little art supply store. Has everything you may need. Supplies for the student to the professional. Owned and staffed by local artists willing to help with any questions you may have. Van Goghs gear is also adjacent to the Arts League of Lowell art gallery.

Excellent art store, though you may find similar items at a better price @ places like Michael’s or A.C. Moore, but the people here are far more educated about the fine art materials.

This art supply shop hovers somewhere between a 4 – 5 star, but as the only art supply in this area I think it deserves 5 stars for effort.
Van Gogh’s is tiny, but there is a lot of goodness packed into that little space. Tons of prismacolors, brush-​style markers, clay, sculpting, and framing supplies. The prices are more than reasonable, as I suspect the core customers are starving artists and students.
I wish they had twice the room and double the amount of good quality items, but Lowellians can’t be choosers. That aside, the location is perfect– sandwiched between Life Alive and the Revolving Museum.
Makes for the perfect pit stop when you’re walking around downtown and feel the need for some new charcoal or sketch pens.

This downtown art supply store caters to many of the local painters, photographers, and college art students. It’s a little store, but thorough in its selection of quality materials. After you went to Michael’s and thought they were robbing you to frame your favorite work of art, you’ll be happy to find a great deal on custom framing and glass replacement at Van Gogh’s Gear.
