This is a nice walkway along the Northern Canal. It’s been re-done and is very pretty. The entrance is on the Mammoth Rd/School St. Bridge. The historic walkway along the Northern Canal island is open when river conditions permit between May 15 and October 15. To find out the daily status if the walkway is open, call the park. It’s closed when the water is too high. You can hear traffic and sort of see civilization between a few of the trees, but the foliage is so thick and pretty that it feels like you’re in a forest. It’s a nice place to go for an urban hike.
