Loft 27

My husband and I have lived at Loft 27 for two years, and we really like it. The other reviews cover it well, but I’ll add a few notes of my own:
Pros:
The apartments are spacious and gorgeous, with high ceilings and big windows. Our apartment faces North, so we don’t need the AC on too much in the summer, which keeps energy costs down. There’s a lounge and gym and basketball court in the building, which is really great. The office and maintenance staff are friendly and responsive. The building requires a key fob, which is nice for security. The location is fantastic; right around the corner from downtown, near pubs and restaurants and coffee shops, about a half mile from the train station, close to 495, and less than 2 miles from the University.
Cons:
Parking is a bit expensive, and there’s limited guest parking. We’ve found a few spiders lurking in our apartment, but they recently replaced the windows, so hopefully that won’t be a problem anymore. Overall, it’s a pretty quiet building, although there’s been a consistent noise problem from one of our neighbors that has taken the office a while to resolve.
Overall, Loft 27 is a really great place to live. The apartments are pricier than others in the area, but they’re also in a prime location in Lowell and they’re very nice.

Great apartments, and the best deal in town per square foot.
Don’t get me wrong, the rent prices are quite high. Ranging from $ 1300-​$ 2300, so definitely not the cheapest in the area. Rent includes heat, hot water and amenities.
Amenities: Very nice to have a gym and half-​basketball court in the building. Everything is kept clean and operational. Pool table, couches, and a large caterers kitchen in the lounge area with a «movie theater» attached. The entire area can be reserved by tenants to have guests over or hold parties — generally a deposit is required, in case you leave a mess! There is also an art gallery featuring local artists.
Apartments: These are huge! I believe the smallest units are around 1200 square feet, with the larger two-​bedrooms over 2000 square feet. Berber carpet in most units, with tiling in the bathrooms and kitchens. Some units have the original factory hardwood floors. Open kitchen area with great appliances and ample cabinet space.
My favorite part: Security! ²⁴⁄₇ monitored camera feeds around the building, with key-​fob controlled entry into the building. It’s nice to feel safe, especially in downtown Lowell.
They’ve recently re-​sealed the parking lot, which is wonderful. During the summer, there are a few patio sets outside for use during the day.
Half the building has an excellent view of downtown lowell over the canal — the other half is stuck with a mostly-​abandoned building. There’s a lot of construction going on, but it hasn’t bothered us at all.
Overall, I’ve had almost no issues in the last few years. Any minor inconvenience that has popped up is quickly dealt with by the superb management. You’ll be drawn in by the luxury, and you’ll stay because of the management. That doesn’t happen often!

Moved in to our apartment a few weeks ago now.
Maintenance: 4 (some cheap fixes)
Office staff: 5 (runs the show)
Parking: 4 (A little pricey)
Apartment space and Quality: 4 (Very very spacious, nice appliances, granite counter tops etc.)
Lowell as an area: Very very diverse. If you are looking for a very quiet/​boring/​uneventful neighborhood, do NOT move here. Me and my girlfriend are semi-​young professionals and honestly love the area. Tons to do and a hell of a lot cheaper than Boston or surrounding areas. Come check it out for yourself. Loft 27 is an overall cool and convenient place to live.
