I really can’t recommend this practice after seeing two doctors over the span of 8 or so visits. After spraining my ankle over a weekend and going to an urgent care, I took a digital copy of the X-​ray to Dr. Hecker. His nurse told me that this digital copy wasn’t readable, and a new X-​ray would have to be taken. Classic billing churn move, but I was in pain, so I moved forward with the recommended new X-​ray. My ankle was casted THREE times before the cast tech got it right, over an appointment that lasted more than four hours. In my five follow up visits over as many months, at no appointment have I waited for less than an hour to see the doctor. It has gotten so bad that I know I can accept teleconference meetings in the hour of my appointment, because there is zero chance of being seen on time.
When prescribed a $ 40, German-​engineered compression sock that tore a week later, I asked for a new one, which I was given, and billed for. I’m now four months into my injury, and actually in some ways in worse shape than I was one week post injury, with instability on the load-​bearing side of my ankle that was fine before. In the absence of other data points, I’d say it was a conservative treatment course that failed– no harm, no foul. With the sum of my other experiences, I would be more inclined to chalk this up to billing churn– I’m not aware of any reality in which it takes 6 visits to move to an MRI and surgery, if that is what is necessary. Ultimately, I’ll be going elsewhere for subsequent treatment.
The people are generally nice here but the clinic is oriented to maximizing throughput and receipts, and my outcome has suffered as a result. I would recommend another practice for your orthopedic needs.
