Associates In Family Eyecare

I was considered legally blind when I was younger so I have had several surgeries on my eyes over the years, especially my left eye. I have been able to wear contacts afterwards, but never, ever saw ²⁰⁄₂₀. I learned to accept it, ²⁰⁄₄₀ wasn’t terrible considering where I started. I had a friend recommend Dr. Banford, and I haven’t looked back since. I have never had anyone try so hard to help my vision. He informed me that because of all my surgeries, I shouldn’t wear a soft contact in my left eye because my cornea is concave and a soft lens would cave in every time I blinked. I was fitted with a special contact and I saw better than ever before. He got me to ²⁰⁄₂₀. This last visit, he suggested a different type of contact for my left eye because the current one was bothering me. It was an expensive lens and incredibly intimidating to think that I might put this huge plastic circle into my eye. I gave it a shot anyway, and now I see ²⁰⁄₁₅ out of that eye and it doesn’t hurt… at all. I will go to him as long as I can. I have had some people tell me he’s «rough around the edges». Those people need to get over themselves and learn what a true doctor that cares for his patients is. They are missing out. Also, as an added bonus, the office staff has always been outstanding. I don’t write a lot of reviews, but Dr. Banford and his crew are definitely deserving.

I went here to get eyeglasses, I checked before going that they took my insurance. They confirmed my insurance while I was there and told me how much the insurance would cover for the cost of eyeglasses. When I went to pick them up, they wanted the entire cost paid by me, they said they did not accept my insurance and had communication issues with the insurer.
I tried to resolve the issue, but the staff would not work with me. After numerous phone calls and letters, I ended up paying them over $ 300 and still don;t have glasses.
It is the providers responsibility to make sure their services are covered through insurance, not the customer!
Not worth the trouble!

So I’ve been wearing glasses for 20 years and I can honestly say that my first visit here was the best eye exam I’ve ever had. I felt really informed and I left knowing that this was going to be my regular eye Dr. It’s located in a small shopping center off of Eisenhower and has a really friendly staff, knowledgeable Dr. and a great selection of frames!
