Look no further for comprehensive eye care in one convenient stop! I knew that I needed to visit the optometrist, and — after putting the visit off for about 5 years — I finally bit the bullet and went this weekend. Yes, appointments on a weekend are just one of the reasons that I’m a fan of Webb & Associates Family Eye Care. I had made the silly assumption that I would need to take time off work during the week to visit the optometrist, but when I learned that I could come here on a Saturday, I immediately booked my appointment. Located in the Paddock(read: the old Summit shopping center. .. still located on Summit Plaza Drive), the office is clean, bright, and visually uncluttered — exactly what you would want from an optometrist’s place. I was quickly checked in for my appointment, and — although walk-ins are accepted — I got priority since I had booked in advance. All of the employees at the front were friendly, courteous, and professional. The Optometric Assistant helped me back, where I had a glaucoma test performed(2nd least favorite part of the visit), and she verified the prescription on my glasses. Next, Dr. Webb came by to verify my medical and optometric history, then take a look at my eyes. I suspected that my prescription had changed, and he verified that as he adjusted the diopters to help me see the letters on the eye chart more clearly. Most telling of all, once we reached my new prescription, he switched back to show me what my old prescription looked like — yowza! No wonder I had had major eyestrain headaches recently! As part of the comprehensive eye exam, he also dilated my pupils(1st least favorite part of the visit). The nerd in me thought back to a trivia item I head learned about some old-school pupil dilating agents. Some of the old school kind are in a class of medications called«Belladonna alkaloids» — Belladonna being«pretty lady» in Italian, because it was once found to be a sign of beauty to have large pupils. Lucky for me, I live in 21st century America, and don’t have to experience the discomfort of big pupils(and the resulting poor vision) to be considered attractive! During the time that I was cycloplegic, while I waited to see Dr. Webb again, I wandered over to the next-door LensCrafters to pick out my new frames. A few minutes later, I was given a clean bill of health on my fundoscopic exam and was out the door. All in all, it was an afternoon well-spent. I’d highly recommend this office and location to anyone needing an optometrist.
