They have some awesome finds on occasion but most of their inventory is seriously over priced. They try to sell some used items for more than they would cost new. Worth a visit to hunt for a special find with a great price but don’t be too disappointed if you find all the good stuff way too pricey. It happens often.

Unique Thrift Store really is my favorite. It is vast, always clean and well-merchandised, and the prices are fair. A pet peeve about many local thrift stores is that they are overcrowded, with merchandise thrown in a jumble. Often, stores don’t bother to sort clothing by size. While there may be bargains to be found, I do not have the patience to sort through everything to find them. Unique is much better. Clothing is sorted by type and by size. It saves me a lot of time: I can just look at things I can wear. An added bonus is that Unique often offers premium and designer clothes. On this visit, I spent $ 50 on four items of clothing. This may seem like a lot, but my purchase included two pairs of Ralph Lauren shorts, new with tags, that together would have sold for over $ 200 in a department store. The two nice shirts I also bought were an added bonus.

As thrift stores go, this one in fairly large. Lots of home goods, knick, knacks, shoes galore, pots, & pans and plenty of dishes. There are racks and racks of clothes. But my one complaint is the pricing. Each clothing item is priced separately. Unlike Goodwill where each type of clothing is the same price(all coats are the same price etc), the pricing is very inconsistent at Unique. I don’t know where they get their pricing scale. Mostly I look for coats and jackets and sweat shirts I can wear to work. Sometimes a not so great coat is $ 25.00 while a nicer, newer, in better condition coat may be $ 7 or $ 8. The same goes for dishes. I really nice baking dish may be $ 3 or $ 4 dollars while a worn out one is $ 8 or $ 9. Who comes up with these prices? They really need to overhaul how they price things. Also, there is no dressing room which is another reason for my 3 star review. I guess I would say Unique Thrift can be a great place to shop but be aware of the prices,

I’ve been to Unique Thrift Store numerous times, and each time I generally feel slightly dissatisfied. As thrift stores go, they’ve got plenty of slightly used clothes and the occasional odds and ends, however, the pricing is inconsistent and not what I would consider necessarily thrifty, as I’ve seen coats, granted still with their original tag, but priced exactly as you would find it in the original retail outlet. I find that to be fairly dishonest considering that irregardless if it has the original tag, the clothing was donated. Anyhow, you can still find a few deals here and there, but in my opinion, it’s certainly not the be all, end all to thrift shopping.

I’ve been going to Unique since I moved to Louisville and needed to furnish my first apartment. Its enormous, has tons of cool stuff, and they have 30% on Mondays! You might have to dig a little, but I’ve found some amazing stuff here – every outfit for every 80’s party I’ve ever attended has come from here, but I’ve also gotten a Columbia fleece($ 3.95), some awesome vintage tees and more housewares than I care to admit(hey, that’s what bleach is for, right?). If you’re a serious thrifter and haven’t been to Unique yet, you need to get in your car right now and head down Preston.

This is a pretty huge thrift store and it is fairly priced. Everything is pretty well organized but it’s cool because there’s so much stuff that you can keep looking through different asiles and always find something new. In a single row I found a wolf coaster set, Michael Jordan biography, and Rage Against the Machine album.

This is the most over-priced thrift store I have EVER shopped at. Prices are extremely high for used things. Some things are even marked the same price you can buy them new for. They do have a large variety of things and clothing but nothing is a thrift store price. The prices would be decent on a holiday when everything is 50% off.

On a redecorating mission for my apartment, I drove out to Unique looking for some small shelves for my kitchen(for spices, coffee, etc). Going into a huge thrift store with a specific item in mind, I knew my chances of success were slim. But, I figured at least I could pick up a few cute shirts if they didn’t have the basic cheap shelves I was looking for. I did in fact find tons of small single wall shelves and I bought three. They weren’t anything impressive, but what they lacked in aesthetics they made up for in price. Spending about an hour total in the store, the clothing section soaked up 90% of my time. Whereas I could see right away that the shelves with the cutout hearts weren’t going to mesh with the rest of me and my roommates’ décor, I couldn’t quite tell which shirts were going to be cute right off the bat. I scoured the shirts, dresses and skirts section and ended up with a cute dress and two shirts, each were only $ 5. Shoes are on top of the clothing racks so you really have to multitask as you’re walking down the aisles. The store was pretty crowded when I went around 5 pm, so I didn’t want to have to wheel my cart back and forth and in and out between customers. I found a cute pair of Rocketdog flats $ 10 and Banana Republic sandals. $ 5. I also picked up two purses, one for $ 3 and one for $ 5. I didn’t buy any jeans but I LOVED the way they are organized. They’ve got the waists hanging visible for you to clearly glance at the brands and sizes, making it easier to scan a few pairs at a time. I’m a sucker for anything remotely fashionable that is $ 5. Plus, on Mondays and Thursdays you can get 25% off your purchase! Why did I leave off the fifth star? No dressing rooms(maybe that’s for the best?) and they didn’t have as much of a selection in my size.

I am a family guy on a budget, but even if I wasn’t I would still shop here! As far as Thrift stores go, this is pretty good. Plenty of variety, new stuff coming in all the time, and sometimes you can find some pretty randomly unique items. As with most thrift stores, if you come looking for something specific in mind, you might be disappointed. But if come with an open mind and your head on a swivel, you will likely find a treasure or two, if not, then you just found my favorite way to kill a little time cheaply! My advice to you is to park on the Big Lots side of the parking lot, and just plan on walking a bit. if you park close, you are going to be in the middle of a battlefield filled with crazy drivers, dilapidated cars with more people in them than a frat car, and while exciting, it may ruin your day if you get unlucky and one of these hazards finds you.

If you love vintage and thrifting and have no issues with spending some time digging around for a steal, you’ll love Unique. That’s after you locate the store and get past the uneventful façade. Though Unique is quite large, it is hidden off in a little corner off of Preston Highway, right next to Big Lots. It’s very easy to pass it up. On to the goodies inside… From the hats, bags, belts and jewelry that grab your attention as soon as you walk in the door, to the fancy, sometimes«wouldn’t be caught dead in that» dresses that are hidden away at the back of the store, Unique is a maze of never-ending surprises. And, if you take the time to dig around, you’re bound to find something that works for you, whether it be vintage or just last season. If you’re down to spend a pretty penny, check out the specialty cases up front. Some of the prices a pretty ridiculous in my book. I’ve done multiple double takes at those cases, but sometimes they’re filled with some pretty nice pieces of jewelry and other collectibles, so don’t leave the store with out at least taking a look. Even if you leave the store empty handed, you’ll probably leave with a story to tell. My tip, always go with a friend. All of those racks of clothes can get overwhelming if you’re not gabbing it up along the way.

Unimpressive. Huge store, huge selection but very overpriced. For example, jeans that are torn or have stains are still priced $ 5 – 7 and the ones that look halfway in good condition are $ 8+ with some up to $ 20. Little boys tee-shirts, like old, faded and with random logos are $ 3 – 5? Broken shelves for $ 20 when even the Big Lots next door carries basic new shelves for $ 20 – 25. But, on the upside it is so huge that there has to be some decent stuff in there if you are willing to dig for it. For example, some men’s suit coats looked pretty good and the winter jackets weren’t bad(although still kinda pricey for thrift store stuff). Parking lot is large but chaotic as there are no drive lanes or stop signs for incoming/exiting traffic and it seemed filled with genius drivers like the guy I watched park in between the two handicapped spots(occupied by the way) in the area with the white stripping. Nice job dimwit. Look for the Auto Zone sign on Preston just north of Fern Valley Road; Unique has a sign right below it but the store itself is hard/impossible to see from the road.

My favorite thrift in Louisville. A whole section of vintage clothing. Most of the staff speaks spanish and english. Also, their holiday 50% off sales are amazing.
