Food was good, but bartenders are super rude. Will not return. Not worth the company. Very unhappy.

So delicious. The service is usually somewhat slow here, but once we put our actual order in it wasn’t too bad. Their happy hour is great! Got three ciders for the price of one at other places. And the beer cheese is like velvet!

The beer options are fun, and the food is good and standard. The service is also pretty good ! I think they could use some fun twists on their food to justify their prices. The 14 dollar hot brown pizza was good, but I think it needed a brown sugar mustard drizzle, something to offset it. Or a small salad to get some veggies. It’s got a fun vibe and good variety, I would definitely come back but it wouldn’t be a regular thing(because of the prices).

Can’t believe this place was dug out and constructed as a restaurant. Get the pretzel bun burger with beer cheese. Holy smack that was good. Decent beer list and their troll Belgian is just ok. Wish I were closer so I could come back and spend more time here, see what the place is like during peak hours. We came for an early dinner, were promptly seated and service was good. Decent prices for better than average bar food. I’ll be back one day.

This place is phenomenal. Always quick, friendly, clean and delicious. Very cool authentic atmosphere! I crave the beer cheese and a must have every return. Good selection of beer brick throughout and accenting in wood trim with wooden tables.

Great happy hour prices, $ 2.50 for a blue moon pint! We tried all 4 happy hour priced appetizers. The beer cheese dip was just so-so in my opinion. Loved the chicken and black bean quesadilla! Just a suggestion to serve it with a little more of that delicious salsa. I’d never had fried pickle chips before — these were great. The dipping sauce with them was very tasty too. The loaded fries were also just so-so. The fries were kinda soggy beneath the cheese, bacon and onions. Good quality thick bacon pieces, however. I’d like to suggest that the restaurant include wings in those half price appetizers happy hour special. Or another wing price special during happy hour. Good, pleasant service, great atmosphere and while it was loud, not too loud. We were greeted upon arrival with«do you have a reservation?» To which we replied that we did not and asked if the happy hour specials were in the bar only or throughout. If a reservation is needed, that should be made very clear on their website, especially if that is the phrase you will be greeted with upon arrival around 5:30 pm on a Friday.

The trill pub is a nice basement bar kinda place. I can honestly say that I’ve had most things on the old(and new) menu. Loaded Kettle chips(now loaded Fries) are pretty damn tasty. Their beer cheese with Pretzels is pretty good. They have pretty good wings and their burgers are ok. The burgers aren’t bad. For what you’re paying, it’s definitely worth it. Chicken and waffles is something you gotta give a try. I know someone who has been to Troll Pub at least a couple of dozens of times and ALWAYS gets chicken and waffles. Service is nice and the staff is polite. weak drinks IMO but hey, what can you do. Def recommend. In addition, try Beer Cheese burger and kettle chips appetizer(now I think they call it loaded fries)

Our first trip to Troll Pub was last night. We started out with a Bloody Mary that was not all we expected; the taste was okay but the vegetables were slim. Our appetizer was the bacon, cheese fries… They were very good. Our steaks were average. For dessert, we had the brownie… It had a weird chalky, coffee taste so we didn’t really like it. I probably won’t go here again.

The place has a cool vibe and the beer is cold. That’s where it ends. I was told this is a Louisville must-go-to place. I may have to unfriend that person. I got the fish and chips and it took a long time to get my food. When I did get it, the fish was very hot(temperature) but the fries were ice cold. The fish was over-breaded and lacked flavor and the bartender never checked on me until I was done(with a full order of fries still on my plate). When she asked how it was, I told her my fries were cold and she asked if I wanted to try the tater tots or something else. TATERTOTS? Hell yes. So she brought them, and they were hot. But, like the fish, they lacked any discernible flavor. I could have poured out a bag of frozen Ore-Ida’s and had the same thing. The experience would have been a 3-star(average), but when I looked over my bill afterwards they charged me for the tater tots. WTF? Next time I’ll do Long John Silvers and save the money.

The food was really good, the waitress was also very attentive, the only thing wrong was when we walked in the door, there was no one in line, there were empty tables all around, & it took 3 people about 5 minutes to decide where to sit us

I have been here at least 3 times in the past year and I think I’ve reached the point where I am giving up on this place. I had the baked penne pasta once and it was very plain. I decided to try the Beer Cheese Burger and I am still regretting it. The beer cheese was awful and I couldn’t finish the hamburger because the meat tasted like out of a fast food restaurant. Service really depends on the day. I will not be returning.

Solid service and delicious food is only the beginning of the good things you can say about Troll Pub. The historic, yet fantasy feel of the restaurant is inviting and makes for an experience that you can’t get anywhere else. It was a little on the pricy side, but is totally worth it if you’ve got the cash.

I was pleased with my bier cheeseburger and fries. Our server was very nice and attentive. Don’t sit in the booth behind the hostess station. The table tops are 2 – 3 planks of wood to give it a rustic troll home feel(?), but one of the boards was so warped it curved upwards towards the seats to the point you couldn’t comfortably put your arms down and your drink would literally slide across the plank. Very annoying.

So after a long day at the Mammoth National Park we found our way to the Troll Pub Under the Bridge. If you are looking for a unique kid friendly dining experience at a local Brewpub than this place is for you. A mighty big troll greets you at the corner and the entire restaurant is decorated in the lovely little monster’s image. My 3 kids truly loved the ambience of this place. We began with the soft pretzels that you can dip in their homemade beer cheese. This app did not disappoint. Being from Chicago I found it quite a surprise to find the Moody Tongue Baltic Porter available in a bottle. It’s a hard to find beer in Chicago so to find it in Kentucky was a pleasant find. My wife ordered that quickly but I like to keep it local and went with their house Brew which is a Belgian blonde. I later switched it up to a Fall City IPA called Hipster repellent. I enjoyed all two of my Kentucky beers. My wife and I shared the beer cheese burger and Philly cheesesteak sandwich both were succulent and tasty and the Philly cheese had a nice twist jalapenos. My kids enjoyed their grilled cheese and fries. We actually still had room for dessert and enjoyed a homemade fresh warm brownie with three vanilla bean scoops of ice cream on the side. So if you’re not from the area and are looking to try something local that has a great craft beer menu/food as well as a kid friendly environment then this is the place to be. The only reason this did not get a five-star is because of the parking situation and the fact that if you’re coming from Main Street and don’t make a sharp right turn that leads you down to a street under the bridge right by establishment, you will end up over the bridge into lots of traffic like I did. Luckily we were determined to still visit this place.

Even with the ncaa tourney going on next door the wait was only 20 min. Because the place is a bunch of rooms tied together it gives you a cool vibe but the place is huge. Awesome beer selection … I chose the porter. My daughter had the honey ale, also good. We ordered the famous beer cheese and pretzel rolls. More like a thick mornay sauce, it was excellent. It was so good i ordered the beer cheese burger. We also had the chicken/waffles and angry penne. Great meal and fast service. I would go back again.

This place was pretty damn delicious. First off the whole entry and everything is cute. But the menu was delicious. The bloody Derby was pretty amazing. The veggie burger was delicious. My daughter had the rib eye and ate the entire thing. My husband had the hot brown. Perfect service and location!

Troll Pub… you disappoint me! You removed the fried jalapeño bites with raspberry dipping sauce. It was all I would get on the menu!!! I enjoy the food but it is heavy bar food that I do not eat as often as I do healthy. The location is perfect but hidden! The only way you can find it is if you see the big olé troll! Located in the heart of downtown next to the Yum Center and Osheas… There is a little something for everyone! The bar is a great area to hangout and that’s what I tend to do when I come here. Hangout and drink! Whether it’s before or after a game… This gal orders Card Red! Hell yeah!!!

The main appeal of Troll Pub is the atmosphere. A neat entrance in the basement of a building… brick walls… a bookcase door to a dining room… a cool bar setup if you want to watch a game… I mean, they got it. Excellent venue. The menu can use some help. The food is just not that great. It’s average, really. Nothing stands out that I’ve had. In fact, last time I went to Troll Pub, I got the Seafood Linguini. It was good… but I was still hungry after I ate it. The portion size was terribly small. I’ve never had food that I disliked, but I’ve never had my doors blown off either. Go for the ambiance. The food is secondary.

I haven’t eaten at the Troll Pub, but I love it as a bar/hangout. It’s tucked away in a convenient location on Whiskey Row across from the Yum Center. The fact that it’s «hidden» under the bridge gives it a really cool vibe. The troll at the top of the stairs is unique and leads you down to the entrance. The inside is big and divided into multiple sections. There’s plenty of seating. The bar is located in the back and connected to an outdoor space, which feels hidden and secluded too. The drinks are good and reasonably priced, especially for being downtown. The bartenders were especially awesome. After ordering a couple«go-to» drinks, and sensing we were getting bored with them, our bartender began suggesting drinks we might like. He made me an amazing pineapple mojito that I was much more excited about. It was delicious and I ordered a second one. I’ll update my review after I try the food, but the atmosphere, drinks, and service definitely deserve four stars.

Food: After running the Kentucky Derby Marathon, I was here looking to eat my usual recovery meal… a burger and beer! After looking through their menu and checking out their taps, I ordered their Beer Cheese Burger with tater tots and a Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro. I love a good stout on nitro and this one was very good. As I was starting my second beer, my burger finally came out. It was a good sized burger with a pretzel bun. I’m not a big fan of pretzel buns, but it does prevent the burger from falling apart. A combination of their beer cheese and tobacco onions made the burger very tasty and I always prefer tater tots over fries. I ended my meal with a Hipster Repellant IPA. Man, did that meal hit the spot! Service: Since I was dining alone, I went to the back and found a seat at the bar. The bartenders were pretty cool, but they seemed to be super busy the entire time that I was there. I think the bartender that I started with was busy preparing for the end of her shift. Still the service was good, I always had a beer in front of me. Location: The restaurant is located on Washington St at the corner of 2nd St. Hard to miss it with the Troll right above the entrance. There’s a flight of stairs leading down to the entrance. Overall: The Troll at the entrance might be enough to get me inside, but it was their beer cheese burger that would get me to come back if I’m ever in the area again.
