Nothing against the students there. They are learning and working hard. To me, it’s simply a bakery. And a little overpriced at that. Nothing special. Just a bakery. There are other ones around town cheaper and just as good(and better). Me saying this is not an attack on the students. They do what they are told. And they do it quite well. I just don’t understand the hype. They make donuts.

The Bakery is also a learning center, for up and coming chefs and pastry chefs. They do deliver and customize wedding cakes.

I have been here many times and I usually love it. Most of the things I have eaten from here have been delicious. The pastries are great. The chicken salad they make is some of the best I have ever had. They also have fresh fruit cups and pasta/potato salads which are also great. I have gotten their lunch boxes more than a few times and today I went in to get a few treats for my grandmother’s birthday. I wanted to try a new lunch box, so I picked the Mediterranean veggie wrap. Initially, it sounded good… what I got was a soggy, almost expired wrap. Everything else in my lunch box was awesome. It came with a peanut butter cookie, potato salad, and a bag of chips. But geez– I couldn’t even finish the wrap. It was absolutely unappetizing, and that is not a word I use often. My advice to them is to do away with those lunch boxes earlier than the others. A wrap full of moist veggies won’t do well if it sits for several days– and that is something I didn’t consider myself either. Anyway, that was rather disappointing. Another thing is that the service leaves much to be desired. Twice now I have encountered impatient, borderline rude employees behind the counter. I get that they are there to create culinary masterpieces and don’t really care for customer interaction, but it really makes one feel unwelcome. I can’t help but wonder if the woman who picked my almost expired wrap out today did so because she did not care about the quality. I understand that older food items need to be sold first, but I also understand customer service. I think it is important to put yourself in the position of the customer. Would you yourself eat that? No? Then don’t give it to your customer. Despite what I would call a scathing review, I will probably be back. Their pastries and chicken salad are too good to pass up.

Great place!!! They have a good selection of cakes, sweets and pastries, and also, to go sandwiches. I had a chicken salad sandwich to go, and it was very fresh and delicious. I will definitely come back.

I guess I thought I was getting more than I did. From the outside, the place looks huge, but it really is just a small counter and 3 or 4 tables. The website makes it seem like this glorious selection of items, but I was underwhelmed. I wouldnt recommend the sandwiches. They are premade and set up like a «box lunch» style, but the sandwiches themselves arent anything to get excited about. You do get some chips, a cookie and some(kind of gross) pasta salad with it, so at least the value is there. The loaves of bread is really where its at and its great, fresh bread for not a whole lot of money. Also, never get the coffee. Just straight up bad.

Ok, three stars isn’t enough, but four is excessive. And here are my reasons: first, though the items are absolutely beautiful they are nothing out of the ordinary. You get exactly what you ordered here. There are no amazing little touches that make items unique or outstanding. One might say that the items are«by the book». However, that book was well written. Second, the space has no soul. Again, I could say that it was«by the book». The design is as predictable as the treats displayed in the glass case. The breads are absolutely perfect. Again, nothing out of the ordinary and you get exactly what you expect. Consistency of results is a strength if you simply must have the exact bread that you ordered last time. I tend to enjoy things that are a little less planned and a little more haphazard. But, when it came time to order bread for my Thanksgiving cheese plate, I came here. I knew exactly what I wanted, exactly where to get it, and I knew it would be exactly perfect. It was. For those who eat with their eyes this is the perfect place for breakfast. If you prefer something with more flavor and personality go somewhere else.

I’ve stopped here numerous times on my way to Louisville to pick up a bite for breakfast. They open early, and they’re right off I64, so on the way with easy access. Everything I’ve had has been good, and moderately priced. I’ve also taken home some of their artisanal breads, prices being very reasonable considering they’re fresh baked — as opposed to other places that feel they need to charge double, because they attach the word«artisanal.

The girls in there were very rude and the cupcakes were cute but very dry and bland! Ew! Not a good experience! :(

My coworkers and I recently helped a client of ours with a fund raiser and couldn’t have been happier with the help we received from local businesses, including The Bakery as Sullivan University. As a child our client was helped by The Crusade For Children and since then it has been his goal every year to raise money for the foundation that helped him many years ago. He takes great pride in raising awareness as well as money for the organization and sends his many thanks!

The bakers here are culinary students, so you get prime pastries for moderate prices which is really nice if you’re fancy and want a crème brûlée for breakfast. I had a cheese danish and cup of coffee, sat there in the bakery. It’s not a «comfy» environment but the service was great.

We have always wanted to stop by here but they were always closed when we’ve been in the area. So today was the day, just by chance. Stopped around 1pm and seemed somewhat cleaned out. Still plenty of cookies, cakes and some other desserts. Prices were very reasonable. Got a blueberry Danish and m&m cookie sandwich. Danish was rich, moist, buttery and loaded with sweet blueberry filling. Cookie was decent but could have been filled with more buttercream frosting. Would definitely go back, and probably earlier in the day for more selection of pastries. Very good!

The Bakery at Sullivan University showcases the work of Sullivan’s future pastry chef’s so it provides the unique opportunity to find delicately made pastries at very reasonable prices. Upon my first visit I stood and stared at the glass cases of filled croissants, bon bons, danishes, muffin tops, cookies, and other delicious looking treats for an excessively long time before finally settling on a cinnamon roll because everything looked so amazing. My giant cinnamon roll was the perfect balance between being light and airy but still chewy and moist. The cinnamon was sweet and sticky and there was plenty of cream cheese icing on top. My only complaint is that I couldn’t take home one of everything in those glass cases with me. I’ll definatly be back as this has now become my favorite bakery in Louisville. As a side note, The Bakery did say that they offer a discount to current Sullivan students so if you are one you have no excuse not to check this place out!
