Had to take wife to Indian food after going to Chennai. Tasted just like it was in India. Went for the lunch buffet. Not a huge selection but decent. Tasted authentic and service was great!

We love it! Super friendly family owned! Everything is deelish! We have never not liked anything we have tried! Sunday afternoon is their Buffett… A good time to try Indian food if you are nervous about it. It’s amazing!!! It’s our favorite in town! I love the atmosphere too! They also do delivery and carry out! This place will not disappoint!!! Promise!

The best Indian restaurants are out of the way and by-word-of-mouth, so Taj Palace is no exception here. My friend suggested take out on a cold weekend night. He, the lamb vindaloo. Me, the chicken tikka. Add pakora, garlic naan. On the outside, the look is outdated. On the inside, it is more upscale than imagined yet a few years old in décor. The staff greeted us right away and nabbed our order. Get ready for a party, because the portions are huge! We had two large bowls of rice, more pakora than anticipated, and the garlic naan was clearly fresh from the oven. We ate like royalty for about $ 30, and I had more than enough for lunch. I ordered my tikka at a spice level 4, and it was perfectly hot, not watered down at all. My friend’s vindaloo was appropriately spicy, packed with tons of potatoes. I also liked how the staff packed dipping sauces with our pakora take out! I’ll be back when I’m near Lyndon!

My family has always loved their food it’s really amazing, however we ordered chicken and shrimp curry takeout tonight and I was astonished! We are use to not expecting much shrimp however there were only 7 in the entire container and the chicken curry also had next to no meat, not usual. So pretty much a $ 35.00 meal and we got rice and sauce. Very disappointing

The BEST place for Indian food in the Louisville area. The exterior is outdated but don’t let that turn you off. The food is absolutely amazing. My family have tried multiple Indian restaurants in the Louisville area and this is by far the best. They are all really nice and care about their customers. Food may take up to 20 min only because curry takes hours upon hours to cook. I LOVE taj palace!

We tried the paneer saag which had lots of cheese(yay!) and the lamb curry which was very tasty and lean. The service was great too. The atmosphere is a lacking a little. The walls are covered with paneled mirrors circa 1991, but I can imagine that some people may like that? I just wanted to some good Indian food, so I left happy and with a full belly.

The food was quite delicious and a large portion for the price. I also loved the customer service, I was checked on by three different people within my 45 minutes there!

I am an Indian food lover from way back, working for Indian’s at a Subway and eating their food almost daily. I have always wanted to try Taj Palace, and with a coupon we got in the mail, my girlfriend and I did just that early this evening. The exterior of the restaurant does not do the interior justice. The inside has white table cloths, beautiful artwork, and clean atmosphere. The service was prompt, giving us enough time to go over the menu without feeling we had been forgotten. One plus for Taj is that the menu has a good selection without over doing it. The pricing is moderate, a little expensive but not terrible. We started off with the assorted vegetarian appetizer, which in included samosa’s, pakora’s and paneer pakora’s. All of them were very good, with mild spice. For the entrée, my girlfriend ordered the Vegetable Biryani(Spicy) and I orderd the Punjabi Aloo, which had potatoe, cumin and onion in a tomato sauce(Spicy) Both were good, the Punjabi Aloo was hot enough to make me sweat! The Biryani was also good, and both dishes were good sized portions. The total, after my buy one get one free coupon came to $ 25 and some change. The service was good, with a waiter constantly making sure your water and drink remained full, the food was good, and the atmosphere was nice. I would highly recommend Taj Palace for Indian food lovers. Pricing is a little high and the exterior needs a little work, but overall a good restaurant.

Perfectly seasoned Chicken Tiki Masala, Saag Paneer(spinach and cheese cubes), a third mixed vegetable dish and warm naan. They go great together. Superior meal.

Tandoori Chicken and Fresh Naan. What else could a fat, middle aged diner like me ask for? Taj Palace is located in what looks an old Pottery Barn. The décor is odd, but when the food is this good, who give a S#@t. There are few things in this world I enjoy more than fresh Naan. The Naan at Taj Palace was piping hot and fresh. We enjoyed a couple of different flavors. Both were delicious. The Tandoori Chicken was out of this world. The spicy curry sauce and fresh chunks of chicken were mouth watering. Everything I tasted was amazing. As I’ve been writing since I started on Unilocal,If the food is good, the décor and atmosphere really doesn’t matter. And my visit to Taj Palace was a gorgefest of deliciousness. If I have the hankering for Indian food, Taj Palace is at the top of my list.

Don’t let the outside of this fabulous restaurant deceive you and deter you from walking inside. Once you walk into the Taj Palace you’re greeted by a comfortable atmosphere — personally, I like to feel homey when I’m eating and I definitely got that feeling here! My boyfriend and I went to the Taj Palace during the lunch hour which is when the buffet is a primary choice for most customers. Although I didn’t get the food from the buffet it did look quite delicious and it had a plentiful selection of food. My boyfriend guided me through the menu since I had never had authentic Indian food before; first we got the mango lassi which, if you haven’t tried it before, is this smoothie-like drink that is primarily yogurt based. An added benefit to this drink is that it really does help cut the spice of your dish! The menu had a good amount of listed dishes, ranging from mild to very spicy so depending on your preference you may choose how your dish is served. The food was also served pretty quickly, which may have been because it was not busy at the time that we went but our waitress was very attentive. All of the food was very good and I received a large portion of food so you definitely won’t leave here being hungry! In fact, you will probably walk away wishing you didn’t stuff all that delicious food and mango lassis into yourself! Don’t be afraid to walk into this nuzzled place, off the main road… your tummy will thank you later!

This is the same restaurant that used to be called India Palace on Shelbyville Road. It’s pretty typical for an Indian restaurant: buffet for lunch and overpriced menu for dinner. Like most Indian restaurants that I’ve been to, if you order an entrée off the dinner menu, you’ll get a huge amount of rice and barely any meat. That’s why you should always go for lunch(and go on weekdays, because they charge more for Saturday and Sunday). This buffet is medium sized. They have a few items that are always there, like pakoras and samosas, tikka masala and tandoori chicken. Aside from those, they usually have 2 or 3 rotating vegetable stews and 2 or 3 rotating meat stews, plus a dessert section. Even though this isn’t the awesomest Indian buffet I’ve ever been to, it’s still more awesome than the average restaurant because Indian food is delicious.

A good indian restaurant. I got to try the Chilli Chicken, Fish Biriyani and the Butter Chicken gravy. It was really Awesome. Fish Biriyani was cooked to its Flavors. The chilli chicken was cooked in authentic south indian style. Butter chicken was cooked to perfection. Overall a win win deal. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal with the family. This is my 1st take on this restaurant, I would continue to try other items of the restaurant and post my comments. Not to forget the staff were very courteous too. Totally loved it and good value for money.

We usually get take out from Taj Palace, but the food is always delicious. The saag paneer is creamy and delicious with generous amounts of paneer. The lamb dishes(my favorite) are all great. My daughter always gets the reshmi chicken, which is tandoor chicken without the red marinade. Served with a mild sauce on the side, it’s perfect for kids or people who prefer more smoke than fire with their kebabs. The staff is friendly and helpful, always accommodating with questions or special requests. Their beer list isn’t the best in town, but they do have some hard-to-find Indian lagers in 12 ounce and 22 ounce bottles. The prices are competitive with other Indian places in town, but the food sets this place apart.

This is my favorite Indian place here, but it could still use some improvements. The outside of the restaurant isn’t very inviting, but the inside looks nice and the people are always friendly. I generally go during lunch and it’s very consistently good food and decent service. I have gone during dinner and thought it was very slow though. Favorite items are the gujab juman and pakoras.

If you aren’t already in the are, it’s a ways out of the way. But it was really good! Two friends and I shared the big sampler meal meant to fit 2 – 3 people. Everything was delicious from the appetizers to the main dishes. The service was a-ok, not forgetful and also not all on top of you, It was a great meal, everyone left satisfied, and I wouldn’t argue if someone wanted to eat here… I’d gladly go out of my way.
