A must on a hot day! The choice of flavors is insane. The only thing that keeps it from a 5 is that it is not shaved ice, like snow. It is more like a traditional snow cone with itty bitty tiny ice cubes. The prices are VERY reasonable. They could probably charge more and still not lose any business. If you haven’t stopped in for a creation of your own, you are missing out!

I stopped here with my SO after passing it a couple times and never having time to stop. Oh man, I was so pleasantly surprised when we finally did. The owner was working the counter and she was SO friendly. She gave us suggestions, put up with our indecisiveness, and was really optimistic about our inevitably weird decisions. I got horchata and banana with condensed milk drizzled over the top and it was just as good as it sounds. He got grapefruit and dill(yes, dill) and it was really really good surprisingly– super refreshing. The portions were really large, and the prices were very good. Only downfall was that they didn’t take cards. I can’t wait to stop here again when we’re in the area– there are like 100 flavors to pick from, I need to try more! They also have hot dogs and other snacks, but I can’t speak on those. With all of the interesting flavors and friendly service I know this place would be hugely popular if it was in another part of town, but the location across from the park is really nice, and it is worth a trip on its own!

Like a mirage in the desert, Sno-E Joe’s beckoned us from Iroquois Park. I had been sitting at my Unilocal Louisville booth as part of the Americana World Festival, the weather getting a bit steamy. And there was this cute, green shack on New Cut Road, practically calling my name. So after several hours of gazing at the hut, dreaming of the sugar-y summer delicacy that is the snow cone, my brand ambassador and I took a break to visit the booth across the road. What we found was Elizabeth, who is particularly passionate about Sno-E Joe’s. She told us how her son bought her the snow cone hut and how she loves interacting with folks. She has more than 100 flavors and gets them from seven companies to help make sure she has a wide offering. She also has sweet cream and even icy treats for pups Reverting back to my elementary and middle school days, I had to get Tiger’s Blood on half of my snow cone — don’t really know what it is(cheery and grape?), but it’s good — and margarita on the other half. My pre-pubescent self really thought I was cool to get an alcoholic-sounding flavor on my snow cone — as if they were the real deal. On my frisky days, I would get piña colada. The Sno-E Joe’s snow cone was a good step into my past. Elizabeth is also not shy with the syrup, which means the ice is very flavored. And it wasn’t expensive. I got three large snow cones — which were very large — at about $ 4 each. Next time you’re in need of a cool treat, head toward Iroquois Park and stop at the green house just across the street from its entrance.
