Ate here earlier this evening. Excellent food. Good service. My friend ordered sample of enchiladas platter. I had ground sirloin burrito with rice and beans. Tasty! No complaints. But my meal at Chuy’s five nights ago was better. Happy New Year!

Señor Iguana’s has been one of the easy go-to Mexican restaurants since I moved here. It’s close to where I’ve lived, quick service, pretty good food, and pretty good prices. Key words: pretty good. Not the best, but it will fix a craving. Immediately after being seated you’ll get your complimentary chips and salsa, but these also come with a sort of cream sauce. I’m not sure what it is, but the closest thing I could think to compare it to would be some sort of ranch… But that’s still not right. Either way, try it on a chip along with your salsa– I think they’re great mixed. My favorite food here is the fajita quesadilla. I LOVE fajitas, but it’s always so much food so I go for this option. I think the chicken is well cooked and seasoned, along with the peppers and onions inside. This doesn’t come with any beans or rice, but I do love their refried beans. I’m not huge on the rice at most Mexican restaurants, but I do like theirs. I’ve tried a few of their tacos and all of these are pretty good, too. My two favorites are the spicy pork and the chorizo– you can never go wrong with these two. I’ve never had a wait here, even at peak lunch and dinner hours. Seated right away and greeted happily by the waitstaff right away. I’ve not had an issue with the service at all. One time I was here on my lunch break with my mother. There was a man sitting at the bar who had clearly had too much to drink. Everyone who worked at the restaurant handled it extremely well. They were able to contain the situation in a way that didn’t disrupt any of the other patrons and made sure that the man safely got home. I think that speaks well for this establishment. Overall, this place is pretty good if you’re in the area. Not the most authentic, but it is an American Mexican restaurant so what can you expect?

Just finished a great meal at Señor Iguanas. The 32 oz. beer was very competitively priced. The camarones a la diabla were severed very hot and spicey. The meal was delicious and filling. John, my server, was attentive without being intrusive. I will definitely be back.

Love this place!!! We have our weekly get together here since it opened. Staff is always friendly. Food is good and reasonable. Child friendly-kids activity menu.

Señor Iguanas is not a regular stop for us. No particular reason why, it’s simply not a stand out example. I do enjoy the food, but there is a more authentic place I frequent almost across the street. Tonight I’m ordering the Chipotle burrito & my wife is getting the Chile Verde. Kids ordered things that the liked, and no one had to think too long about what they wanted. I’m fully expecting to have a good experience tonight, but the Chipotle burrito is really going to have to stand out tonight to earn that fourth star. Service is always good, and prices are okay. The creamy jalapeño dip and salsa makes me think of Chuy’s, and that’s not a bad thing. All in all, I know we’ll be back, albeit not sure when.

Been here several times when traveling for work. Lunch and dinner. Reliably good food, particularly if you venture beyond the standard Mexican fare. Meat plates are good. Good salsa(red and white). Reasonable prices and staff has always been friendly.

Waited more than an hour for cheese dip with zero explanation provided. Insane! They kept droning on about cooking delays but it’s cheese and you put it in a bowl and then you heat it. They know this. On top of that I ordered a quesadilla and they brought out an enchilada. It was cold. It was runny and it was disgusting. I’m still feeling the effects of the poor choice to ingest it. I wish I could take back the decision to walk into this place but there are somethings in life you can’t take back and this awful dining experience is one of them. Horrible service, horrible food, I wish I could give it 0 stars. I mean how can you f up cheese dip.

I have gotten good food and service each time I have come here. I like that the vegetables are a larger variety than typical authentic Mexican restaurants.

A few things I notice they did differently then El’Nopal and other Mexican chains: Fajitas for two: you have a option for either corn or flour tortillas. Some restaurants don’t have that. Salsa: made fresh with onion, tomato and cilantro. This can be over looked at times but it stands out after you’ve had so many carbon copy salsa. Take Out Orders: side items are separate from the main dish, or at least for large meals like Fajitas for two. The wet(raw diced onion/tomato/lettuces and sour cream) where in one container and the dryer(beans n rice) where in another. Most of the time at other places these is thrown all in one… which I never liked myself. ALSO!!! The fajitas had red bell pepper in addition to the green… which I do not see but enjoy more than the regular fajita fair. 4 outta 5, I’ll come back but I’ll try something different next time.

Everything has always been really good. It’s better than El Nopal and they do great with large groups.

My boyfriend and I have visited here a few times and always sit in the bar, where we are served promptly. They have $ 3 lime margaritas Monday-Thursday, which I take advantage of! They have a machine if you like frozen margaritas, so the consistency is always on point. Although I will say, their limes were very dried out all the times we’ve been. My boyfriend gets the $ 632oz Negro Modelo, but I believe all their imports are only $ 6 for 32oz! Its a steal! That alone is worth the visit to me. We got some Al pastor tacos and an additional taco plate of some sort that was pretty tasty. The meat was all fresh tasty and moist. I only give it 4 stars because our last trip there, the bartender was rude and made a snide comment about the age difference of my boyfriend and I when he checked our IDs. He was not as attentive as the lady bartenders we had our visits before and it seemed like we were inconveniencing him for being there(we were the only ones in the bar area).

Food is okay. Service terrible. Hats off to the red head server who pretty much ran the whole joint. «Bartender» was too busy hiding in corner booths playing on his phone to bring our food make, our second round of drinks, or even give us a bill. leaving the question… How many people have walked out without paying on this guy?

Basically this is your standard American-Mexican food place with a few twists. Chips and salsa were obvious, but it came with an interesting dip which I’m pretty sure was sour cream mixed with a pack of ranch seasoning. We enjoyed our dinner fare and drinks(huge mugs of a Mexican beer and margaritas), but the most enjoyable parts were: 1)proximity to Churchill downs. We walked over from here, it’s about 3 blocks and there are plenty of ATMs on the way. 2) service. We ended up with, as our server self described, the only gringo in the place. That said, he was fun to talk to and helped us sort out the curious dip previously mentioned. 3) service again. I told the gringo it was my wife’s birthday. They put a sombrero on her, gave her a sweet fried tortilla, and sang her happy birthday. Overall I’d happily come here again. Perfect for for what we wanted.

Closest Mexican to expo enter. Typical Tex-Mex café, family owned with several restaurants in Louisville. House salsa is fresh and homemade but nothing special and not at all hot. Asked for hot picante and they just add some commercial habanero sauce, it did help. Classic Tex-Mex fare all OK, chimichanga pleasantly lightly fried served with fresh green salad with pico. Flan average at best. All in all, good friendly service and good average Mexican worth coming back if you crave it in this area.

I really want to like this place. I go every few months and it’s never actually bad, but I’m never really blown away. The food is slightly better than mediocre and the wait staff is always friendly, but sometimes a little slow. My best piece of advice is to bank on it taking your entire lunch hour to get/finish your food. Prices are fair, they have good salsa, a decent beer list, and a pleasant atmosphere. Overall I wouldn’t go out of my way for it, but it’s a good place to meet people for lunch.

Señor Iguana’s is a good spot for a lunch over the work hour. With typical Mexican fare, the recently updated menu has many upgrades, most notably the new black beans side … Always a necessity for me. While their lunch menu is pretty standard, if you open to the full menu you can select from a much greater variety, including some more traditional dishes. Their carnitas(a sort of crispy pulled pork) are my favorite undiscovered gem.

Señor Iguana’s… I know it can have mixed reviews. My experiences have varied over the years, but I still come back, so it must be good enough… right? I’ve waited here occasionally, but generally I have been seated almost immediately upon arrival, which I like. This is never friendly to my Weight Watchers, because when you arrive, they’ll put chips and salsa… and the best white sauce/dip… on your table. I still have no idea what that white dip is, but it is addictive! Yum!!! Fajitas are my personal favorite here, or rather in general. Nothing different than other Mexican restaurants I’ve been to for the most part. Pretty consistent on how they’re made, and if you go at lunch, you can get a lunch-sized portion(which is still more than enough). They do have a lunch menu, which is nice. However, the majority of people I know get the chimichanga here. My taste buds have actually never met the chimi, but everyone seems to love it. Now I think I’ll have to try it sometime. Otherwise… the service varies. Sometimes they’re on it; sometimes they’re not. I drink a lot and like water refills; sometimes I get them quickly… sometimes I don’t at all. I’m between a 3 and 4 on this review. There’s nothing«bad» about it, but it’s also nothing super out of the ordinary. I enjoy it and will go back(soon, I’m sure), but there are better restaurants in Louisville. But that white dip… mmm…

Let’s just get this out on the table first thing — $ 1 domestic drafts on Tuesdays. One. Dollar. Way to blow my mind, Señor Iguana’s. And scoping their website, the other drink specials are pretty tempting as well. There is a drink special every day of the week($ 2 Margaritas on Sunday and Monday, 2 for 1 Margaritas on Wednesday, $ 2 domestic bottles on Thursday, $ 2 well drinks on Friday, and 2 for 1 mojitos on Saturday) and that is enough to make this girl a very happy camper. I went with my cousins who say they frequent this restaurant above all other Mexican options in Louisville because of the white salsa. It wasn’t my favorite– too much mayo taste for my liking. However, I ordered the burrito de carne asada and was super pleased. The cheese sauce just the right amount of spicy and the steak was cooked perfectly. And can we talk about the rice? Mmmm. Service was sub-par; we had to track down the server a couple of times to get our checks and then to pay, but it was fairly busy(being one dollar draft night and all.) Overall, not my favorite Mexican restaurant and definitely not the most authentic, but the drink specials and the burritos will definitely bring me back.
