This place is amazing! The food is always excellent. The server is friendly and on top of things. The atmosphere is laid back and authentic. Check it out!

Unbelievable food. Very small and intimate. You could see the woman(I assume she runs the place?) in the kitchen, cooking away while you feasted. We went for the Friday night buffet. A good recommendation if you’re looking to try many dishes. She made different dishes as the evening went on, so we were able to try many things. I highly recommend the ginger lemonade. I’ve never had anything like it before. Fantastic drink. I will definitely be back.

Love this place. Been a few times and it has never disappointed. The pancake is my favorite thing and the sauce that is served with it is amazing. I want to bottle and take it home. I have not made it to the Friday night buffet yet but plan to try it out soon.

This is a real local hidden gem. With an initially concerning mix of Mexican and Philippino food I found both to be executed to perfection and in generous helpings. It’s small, very friendly and Tony the regular server has a lovely sense of humour. I have yet to get far though the menu after three visits as I am stuck on the Enchiladas which to someone who has lived in New Mexico and Texas are, with the 5 star adobo sauce, as close to the real deal as I have found in Kentucky(and a big step up from El Mundo’s next door). The coconut curry was a real hit too and if they have it(it goes fast) the small mango and coconut flan is a a great end to a superb meal. Try it and you won’t regret it and you will become a regular quickly as I now am

Good food and great service! The Lumpia and Pancit dishes are not the same as the ones my Lola and my father cooked when I was younger, but they have an awesome flavor and they taste so fresh! I wish they had more dishes on the menu like Dinuguan and soups like Nilagang baboy and Sinigang na baboy. My boyfriend and I will definitely be back to eat here. It’s comforting to know that I have a place to eat that reminds me of home(if only a little bit)!

We enjoy a certain fish plate covered with pesto that is great. Even to go, they make it travel and taste wonderful.

Went here when I visited a friend in Louisville. Its a cute little«filipino» restaurant. Our server was fantastic! Great personality. The food was pretty good… not fantastic but really good. I am not sure its authentic filipino, but hey, I am not a connoisseur. I found the pancit to be just ok and the lumpia was not was I was used to. A lot of people raved about the fried eggplant… I thought it was just ok. The butter fish was delish and the tataya tacos(sp?) were amaz! It has lots of flair so I def like that. Oh and its pretty darn CHEAP!

This place is fantastic! The location is great, but very easy to miss. It can be easily overlooked; especially with El Mundo right next door. What I love the most about this place is the atmosphere. Having been to many other countries, this place takes you away from America for a while. The service that we had was superb and the food was fantastic as well. My wife and I had the Fried Eggplant appetizer, and wished that we could eat it everyday for the rest of our lives. We also had a mixed vegetable dish that was great too. Plus, free unsweet iced tea!

Fried eggplant appetizer, fried eggplant appetizer, fried eggplant appetizer, fried eggplant appetizer. Is that enough of a subliminal message for you? Its such a delicately tempura fried app with this delicious sesame soy dipping sauce. Yum!

I love this hidden little gem. With only 6 tables and colorful décor, it’s warm and cozy. They have excellent food, service, and cheap beer. My favorite is the Spicy Chicken soup and Tatay’s beef tacos. The spicy chicken soup is indeed quite spicy, just a warning. If you come on a Thursday you can get Red Stripe and Corona for $ 2. I’ve never been disappointed with their fresh specials either.

The pineapple curry was completely amazing! Excellent Filipino cuisine, but be sure to check the hours — there is one cook and one server, and they have limited hours and seating — but the food is well worth it! Wed-Fri 11am-2pm, Tues-Sat 5pm-9pm.

I hope the rest of menu is more interesting than what we have tried today. Cousin and I continue our food journey through my Bookmark list. We are both unfamiliar with Filipino food so we were very excited to try Sari Sari today. But our experience was more«mixed» than«pleased». Lumpia: isn’t lumpia supposed to be dainty sized, made with thinner, crispy skin rather than a thick shell like most ordinary Chinese eggrolls? The appetizer order was 5 husky rolls, fried to an unappetizing darkness. The filling was even less promising: chopped cabbage with carrots, squash and more cabbage. Pancit bihon: if the menu says«cellophane» noodles, why did rice noodle show up in the dish instead? And the dish really did not have any recognizable flavor. Fried eggplant app: Asian eggplants cut in chunks, battered and fried. Again, no real flavor but I guess that is what the accompanying sauce is supposed to do. But we did not enjoy its sharp vinegary flavor. Mung bean coconut soup: it is every bit as good as everyone says it is. We could not stop eating it. We also enjoyed the mango coconut flan. All in all, a mixed bag. Cousin does not want to return. But I will give it one more try on a Friday night for the buffet. Maybe there are tastier items on the buffet.

I am so glad El Mundo’s was ridiculously busy, or I may have never tried this little gem! The outside of the building looks a little kitchsy, with its bright paint colors and signs in the windows, but it hides a hole-in-the-wall gem with fantastic food. The beer menu is slightly more extensive than the menu lets on, but if you’re in the mood for mixed drinks, just keep walking down the road to Volare. Beer is the only alcohol served at Sari Sari. The food menu appears to be mexican(adobo chicken and quesadillas) and chinese(fried rice, curry chicken), but the flavors are closer to Thai food. The mung bean and coconut soup is a little intimidating, with a brownish-gray color, but it’s thick and rich with coconut and lime flavors. I sucked mine down and every bite was delicious. Not spicy at all(unlike most of the rest of the menu). The taste of spicy chicken soup I had was also yummy, but a little too sour and spicy for my taste(if you can’t tell, I am not a lover of hot food). I had the butterfish for my dinner and it was DELICIOUS. Tangy and fragrant, and the fish was just right, not fishy or over-cooked. I had trouble stopping eating, even though I was ridiculously full. The side of beans and rice were awesome too; the beans were seasoned well and the rice was nice and fluffy. I will DEFINITELY be back here. Sari Sari is a hidden food oasis!

Four stars. I love the food, I love the server, and I love the small intimate space. It is a great place to get dinner, but you may want to stay away if your tongue doesn’t like the heat!

I’ve never had a bad meal here. The Buffet is fun because I never know what I’m scooping out, but its always delectable! My favorite dish is the Coconut Chicken Lemongrass Curry and it might even taste better as leftovers! I wouldn’t recommend trying to get take out here. Its a small business, one cook and one server and whenever I’ve tried, they’ve been too busy to take orders.

Sari Sari has been open around seven years, two doors down from El Mundo, a critically lauded independant Mexican restaurant. What most don’t know is that Sari Sari is the home of Lourdes, a chef who originated much of the popular fare at El Mundo, and Sari Sari consistently churns out dishes that easily surpass even the best offered down the street. A frequent diner, I have eaten nearly everything that has ever been on the menu at Sari Sari as well as almost every special that has ever been offered. What I find the most refreshing is that there are three weekly lunch specials and dinner specials, so I can eat here multiple times in the same week and the food is so excellent overall that I can go months between ordering a «favorite» menu item. Some claim the food is not authentic, and while the inclusion of tacos and quesadillas and such on the menu lends that bias some credence, the very name«Sari Sari» stands for a variety shop, every dish may seem to come from different nationalities, but Filipino methods, pairings, and flavors unite the eclectic fare under a singular heading. A unique and delicious treat and a must for any Louisville or traveling foodie.

Yowza. This place was what we call at work a «surprise and delight.» Driving by, you might not even notice this literal hidden gem. And no wonder — amongst the gazillion pretty solid restaurants on this strip, Sari Sari, has got to be the smallest. There were 4 or 5 tables inside, and if the sign wasn’t yellow, you might not see it at all. So get there early or go late, grab a table and let the adventure begin. Specials on the board. I had some nicely refreshing ginger lemonade that was obviously freshly made. The ginger wasn’t overpowering, nor was the sweetness. I wouldn’t be surprised if there really wasn’t any sugar in it. Very nice. The menu ranged from 7 bucks for a quesadilla with all sorts of good stuff in it, and my friend left plenty full. I got the most expensive thing on the menu but it was 15 bucks. My kinda pricing. I had shrimp, scallops, calamari, and some tasty fillet of fish in this yummy, spicy coconut milk sauce. Mmm. It also came with a soup starter that was wonderfully flavorful with a kick, then with the entrée it also had rice, and Uh-maze-ing spicy black beans. I had 2 ½ meals out of it. (Note, if you don’t do spicy, this might not be your place) but this spot was my jam.

We had just arrived in Louisville to visit a friend, and he said we were going to try Filipino food. I was excited as this was a type of food that I had never tried before. It was a fairly small place, but they made room for our group of five. Our server was great, and incredibly attentive. The food was even better. I am typically apprehensive of buffets, but we saw the cook come out and constantly refresh the selection of items available. As this seemed to be a good way to try a few different types of Filipino food I decided on this option. My lady had the pork adobo, and she loved it. She literally had to get it boxed up for fear of eating until she was uncomfortable. The buffet was great, and I really enjoyed the options. You have to try the mung bean soup, and the tapioca fruit dessert. The bill was reasonable, and we left happy with our first taste of Louisville.

I can’t say if this is authentic or not, having never been to the Philippines, but my coworkers and I found it to be a very tasty meal. I had been here once a few years ago and had their little lunch buffet, so we stopped by again. No more lunch buffet, server said they hadn’t had that for awhile now. Oh well, there were several specials at $ 8.95(with soup and iced tea) and a nice moderate sized selection of entrees from about $ 8 to $ 12(all with unsweet iced tea). The soup… oh my goodness was the soup amazing. I got the«coconut mung bean» which was like a lentil style soup with garlic, lemonsgrass, coconut milk and other spices and was delicious. The depth of flavor was impressive; all 4 of us at lunch today tried it and thought it great. Someone else got the spicy chicken ginger soup which was quite good but just not at the level as the mung bean soup. The entrees were all good– all of the came with beans and rice, the beans were similar to a Cuban dish but with some different spices. Plain white rice, properly cooked. Fish tacos, beef tacos, sesame chicken(nothing like the Chinese dish of the same name) and pork adobo burritos were all nicely done. I think the sesame chicken and the beef tacos were probably the best and most«different» For about $ 11 including tax and tip, a very good meal was had by all.
