I have been a patient of Dr. Ragan for four years now with no real complaint. She is a decent dentist and her assistants are alright as well. Where she lacks is in her administrative department. It took them two years of losing my records to change my last name and address to match what they are currently. They sometimes charge me when I’m there, sometimes they don’t. There’s no consistency, other than no matter what I pay while I’m there, I will get another bill a month or two later for at least another hundred dollars. I’m not sure why this is, considering I have had the same insurance since I started going there. One would assume Dr. Ragan’s office would be aware of the cost for a simple cleaning by this point. Even more annoying, when the bill is received, you either have to call them during business hours and give them your credit card number or pay via the mail at your expense. They have no online option, which is frustrating considering you get hit with this surprise bill every time. This last time, I apparently did not see this bill. I know this because I got a nasty message on my phone two months after my appointment from the admin stating they were sending me to collections if I didn’t pay them. I called them and told them I had not seen the bill, to which the admin said she’d sent«a bunch» of letters. She continued to lecture me until I interrupted and said, «well, I’m calling to pay now, so can I please pay?» I paid and that should be it… EDIT: I wrote earlier that Dr. Ragan’s office sent me to collections. That was a mistake on both my and the billing company’s part; no one was sent to collections. HOWEVER, through this process I have learned that, as of this time, Dr. Ragan doesn’t take my insurance, which is why I keep getting these outrageous bills. I don’t know if she stopped taking my insurance at some point or never did(although I would never ever go to a dentist knowing she did not take my insurance). So even with getting new insurance cards and changing names and addresses, Dr. Ragan’s office didn’t bother to tell me they don’t take my insurance for FOURYEARS. Needless to say, I will be finding a new dentist.
