Went with a couple of girlfriends for a relaxing paint night this past Sunday. I wasn’t too sure about what we’d be painting(Where in the world will I put this in my house? Can I regift it? Who would want it? all zoomed through my head). We were told to arrive 45 minutes early to check in, which ended up being kind of useless. I’m perpetually late so I got there around 5:30. Probably good if you wanted to down some dranks prior to painting, but I wasn’t feeling it. I did like that we could bring our own food in! I ran to Kroger prior to class and grabbed some sushi and stuffed my face at my seat before getting started at 6. We were assigned seats with our names written in chalk on the table, neat! I lucked out because one of my best friends from college was leading the class that night so it was fun to make weird faces at her during her instructions.(She’s a champ and didn’t mess up though). The class went by quickly and the painting came together. I was surprised by how much I liked it when I was done! It’s now gracing my living room wall… until I come back and do another painting of course!

Pinot’s Palette is a blast, and I can’t wait to go back. My girlfriend took me for our second anniversary and we got there at 6:15 on a Saturday — 45 minutes before painting starts. You’re able to get there 45 minutes early and bring some food and eat and mingle with folks. Disclaimer: BYOB is NOT allowed, so be forewarned that alcohol is not included in the ticket price and you can’t bring your own. The bartender that night, Martha, was delightful, and you can buy wine, liquor, or beer there. If you get a bottle of wine, she’ll keep it at the bar for you(chilled if necessary!). As well, bottles of water are FREE. The actual painting event was from 7 — 10 pm and the woman who led the session, Jaclyn, was an riot. In that three hours, there are several breaks for getting more drink or noshing on food. We painted a scene of two people kissing on top of a bridge in the moonlight, and I was anxious at the beginning(«You want me to paint THAT?!»), but it’s well led and easier than it looks and I’m so glad I did it. Everyone was having a great time, and Jaclyn was easy-going and encouraging. The«too long; didn’t read» version: This place is so much fun. Bring food; buy alcohol there. And tip generously, because telling us how to paint for 3 hours isn’t easy, but you can tell they’re enjoying themselves while they corral us Type-A folks into painting something halfway decent.

So let me preface this post with saying I NEVER do this. The more I thought about it the more I realized I would be doing our great community a disservice by not posting about our TERRIBLE experience. Last night was my first time at Pinot’s Palette. We had a party of 8 lovely ladies there to celebrate a birthday. One of our party just had surgery and physically could not paint but still wanted to enjoy a night out with the girls. This was communicated on 3 different occasions via phone prior to the event. Then again when we all walked in with no dispute. Additionally, nothing is posted on there website or Facebook. After we all grabbed drinks and began painting, our friend unable to paint was approached by the owner. The owner proceeded to make a scene and told our friend she had to leave if she was not painting. We offered to pay for the seat but that didn’t change that our friend still couldn’t paint. The overly aggressive owner refused to accept the logical offer. Why? I have no idea. I respectfully pleaded with her asking her to be empathetic to the already awkward situation. She was unreasonable and continued to harass my friend in front of 60 other people. My dear friend was heart broken and told the absurdly mean woman that she would call a ride(since her surgery prohibits her from driving). By this time our party was already ruined. Not only is everyone in our party embarrassed but the lady decided to ask our friend to wait OUTSIDE for her ride after harassing her for 20 minutes. That was it. This illogical heartless wretch was kicking her out because my friend physically could not paint.(Remember we offered to pay from the beginning.) I have NEVER in my life witnessed such blatant discrimination. Needless to say we left and I got my money refunded. If you are considering going out for a paint night, I STRONGLY encourage you to take your money ELSEWHERE. I have never witnessed such disrespect and heartless behavior in my life. I promise I will never go back and I hope this post prevents others from experiencing the same aggressive and irrational behavior. No one should be made to feel the way that my friend and or party did.

One of my good friends set up a girls night here. In a private room with a private instructor. Her name was Shelly. It was SO much fun! I don’t think I have a creative bone in my body, but I was able to paint a pretty decent picture because of the easy to understand instructions from Shelly. When we were all done, I was a disappointed only because I wanted to stay and paint some more! I’m really hoping my friends want to set something up again here soon because I would love to go back.

I have been here once. I went for my sister’s Bachelorette Party, we had 9 ladies there. It was so much fun! Everyone’s painting in the end was slightly different, some chose to use different colors than the example piece and theirs turned out beautiful too. The teacher was great and allowed us ample time to finish each step. None of us wanted alcohol but a few of us did appreciate the free water during the 2 hour class. For the private party it was $ 35/each with a minimum of 8 people to make a class. For their open classes, the price is sometimes a bit cheaper. I’m already looking at other classes! I’m NOT good at drawing or painting, my sister(the Bachelorette), went to college for art, so, of course hers looked much more like the example piece… however, mine turned out great too! I’m so glad we celebrated my sister’s upcoming marriage in this way, we all left with a beautiful painting and fun memories!

Absolutely fantastic experience here! Did you know that Thursdays are half-priced wine nights? Oh! What about that children 6+ are newly welcome in the studio?! Tonight my good friend and I came in for a night of fun, wine, and creativity. Pinot’s didn’t disappoint! We aren’t painters, we just enjoy wine and fun. Looking at our canvases you might think we were painters! That’s because the teacher/announcer/fun leader was absolutely fantastic! We will DEFINITELY be back!

Fun activity but also frustrating as the equipment provided is pretty bad(I.e., new brushes desperately needed) and the tables are seated with so many participants that you literally only have about 12 inches between your canvas and the canvas on either side of you and there is another canvas behind yours are the same table. You have to decide between having the water cup to rinse brushes or your beverage… Not enough room for both. So cramped that I bumped the person’s canvas next to me while adjusting the position of mine. Teacher was fun. Cost $ 40.00

The best Paint and Sip place in town! They also have a great drink specials. The owners are great people and their teachers are patient(even for an amateur like myself!).

I can’t overstate what a fun night this was for my friends and I. We had a group of 8 for a bachelorette party, and we had a great night full of laughter and fun– and for only $ 25! They seat you together and your canvas and paint colors are there ready for you when you walk in, and they give you a few minutes to get settled and grab a drink from their bar if you want one– I was happy to see the reasonable prices too– $ 2 beers and $ 6 glasses of wine, can’t beat that with a stick! You can also bring your own food, which we did. They also had a freaking awesome music playlist that played throughout the night– I was ready to buy whatever CD mix they had going but alas it was a finely tuned Pandora station and I’ll have to try to recreate on my own… okay on to the review :) On this night we were painting owls, and you had your choice of 2. Some of the girls changed their minds when we got there and they were super accommodating about that and got them the different paint colors they would need. What I really liked was that they were so cool about you«making it your own” — if you wanted to change your colors or leave something out they were totally cool about it and encouraged it. My friend decided to leave out the owl completely to just make a «night scene» and it turned out great. At the beginning they said that you will surprise yourself and they were right! I’m not quitting my day job anytime soon but I was very surprised that mine actually turned out pretty good! The instructors are great– they were encouraging and made the process easy to follow, and they’ll walk around to answer questions or if you need some help. Lastly, I thought it was a really nice touch that they recognized the people that were there for an event, they gave a Pinot’s Palette wine glass to the bride in my party and another person that was celebrating a birthday. Wish I lived in Louisville to go here again! Highly recommend for a party or just for an evening of fun!

Fun girls night out! Or girls and guys! Everyone there looked like they had a wonderful time. It was great to be given some guided instruction and then to continue on with your creative self to end up with your very own masterpiece to hang on a wall in your abode! :) I have been here twice now. Once with two of my girlfriends doing the Paint Your Own Fleur-de-lis and once I rented the party room and invited some friends. Both times were an absolute blast! They sell wine and beer and the staff is very friendly and upbeat. You must be 21 years old and you can’t bring in your own alcohol — against the ABC rules! The beer and wine are priced like in a restaurant so no big surprises. The paint and canvas and brushes are supplied with the class fee. Will definitely do this again!

Who knew that in just two hours I could go from garish to Gaugin?! I recently attended Pinot’s Palette as part of a bachelorette evening and can highly recommend it as an alternative to the typical festivities that include feather boas, whistle necklaces and dollar bills, if you get my drift. A male friend of mine thought it was a raunchier joint when I said the name, «Pinot’s Palette» though. Say it out loud and you might hear what he did ;-0 Here’s what you need to know if you go. All the information below is current as of 3÷2÷2012: – $ 35 per person for a 2 hour lesson – Wine costs extra($ 6/glass when I went) – You can bring your own food – Sign up in advance online or pay at the door – 21 and up only I got my liquid courage before I picked up my paint brush — I’m no Rembrandt, but a convincing Riesling might have me thinking otherwise. Speaking of Riesling, the one they served was delicious and crisp without being too sweet. Instructors lead a 2 hour lesson in which the whole class paints the same picture. It’s easier than it sounds, but I still found myself craning my neck to compare my pointellism skills to some of the other girls’ — was I mixing colors just right? Was my brush stroke too broad? Would this even look remotely like the demo painting once I finished? Surprisingly, it did! The fact that I claimed my own painting and not my neighbor’s at the end proves that any artistic numbskull can do a decent job. Props to Pinot’s Palette(or maybe just Pinot=D) for a great time with an even better souvenir!

I was lucky enough to get invited to Pinot’s Palette for a soft opening with several of my friends and we all had a blast. I have absolutely no artistic talent so I was kind of nervous going in but the instructor and assistants really do walk you through the painting in a fun and easy way so by the end I had a really nice piece that is proudly displayed on my living room wall. Believe me, my husband would not have suggested replacing a clock that had been there for a while if it didn’t look at least half way artsy! :) Oh, and of course that was all done while drinking some yummy wine and chatting with my friends! I would highly recommend Pinot’s Palette for a girls’ night out, a fun outing with family or even a co-ed evening with another couple. We are already planning our next visit! Welcome to the neighborhood Pinot’s Palette!
