I bought just about everything. Bourbon balls, modjeskas, malted milk balls(well, I ate my friend’s), and some caramels. Everything is delicious. The little lady who worked there was so sweet and friendly, and gave us all a bourbon ball to taste since I said I had never had one before. Highly recommend this adorable candy shop.

Walking into Muth’s is like going back in time. Their candy is amazing. My favorites are their Bourbon balls and modjeskas(I don’t like most Bourbon balls but theirs are fabulous). This is a must go to when shopping for your kids Easter basket and Christmas stocking. They also have sugar free options. They have a huge selection of candy! And if you’re getting married, they have cute little boxes of candy you can purchase. They have been there since the 1920s. If you haven’t been, go and cure that chocolate craving!

. Muth’s is an old candy shop located in NULU(lol) almost entirely run by sweet older ladies. It is a small establishment, but don’t let that fool you… they have tons of candy. Get ready to spend those pennies– some of it is a bit on the pricey side! However, some of it is definitely worth the price. I’m talking caramels. All kinds. Yum. Get the modjeskas. They are soooo delicious! Caramel coated marshmallows… need I say more? They also have your run of the mill candies. Six lets, taffy, jelly beans, chocolates, fudge, fruit slices, etc. The selection can vary depending on whether it is a holiday or not. I came in close to Valentine’s Day and they had tons of romantic, Valentine’s related candies! They even had boxes to put the candy in. Be wary of Muth’s hours, though. They tend to close pretty early.

Amazing place! If you’re lucky enough to see Stanley, ask for some pool shark stories. Their signature Modjeskas are fun but the Turtles melt minds. Neat, old time store and they make most of the candies in house. Doesn’t get better.

Muth’s reminds me of trips to Strawbridge & Clothier’s candy department with my grandmother. It’s a small shop lined with cases and candy of all types. I purchased a bag of chocolate covered raisin clusters(mixed dark and milk chocolate) and some bourbon balls. My MIL bought black walnut brittle and couldn’t stop raving. The prices are very reasonable(I paid less than $ 8) and the staff was very friendly. They even offered to sell me bourbon balls without the fancy gift box at a cheaper price. This is a great place to visit when you’re downtown and an even better place to take out-of-town visitors. I was more than happy to support this local business on Small Business Saturday and definitely plan to return. A great experience for candy-lovers of all ages!

I stopped to try modjeskas. They were awesome. The bourbon balls were also excellent. It was a nice balance of alcohol and sugar for me. Typically I find alcohol candy to be overly sweet.

Muth’s just turned 94 last week, and I can see why: It’s your classic candy store with both your usual chocolate-covered favorites and incredible confections unique to Kentucky such as bourbon balls, modjeskas, and chocolate horseshoes. I recommend picking up a box of the modjeskas. The fluffy homemade marshmallow base, a special recipe, is drenched in a butter and cream caramel. Popping one into your mouth will give you the best sugary bite in the store. What’s even better: those come chocolate-covered too. Everyone wins at Muth’s!

Soooooo goooood. This is the real deal. They’ve been here for close to 100 years. Make nearly everything in-house. Lots of memorabilia from over the years in the wall cases — an entire display of Valentine’s Day giant heart shaped candy boxes dating back to the 1950s. And their chocolate is delicious!!!

Modjeskas!!! I have never had them with chocolate on them as another reviewer has. I have never even seen them this way and I didn’t find any the day I went. I love Modjesdas and I think I would really like them covered in chocolate! Anywoo… I love the candy at Muth’s. They have been here forever and they have a huge selection of black licorice candy which my friend really loves so now I know where to pick some good stuff up! I also love their peanut brittle and suckers. NOTE: You have to spend over $ 5 to use your credit card — but that is easy to do! Yummo!

My family and I were in Louisville eating breakfast at the Toast restaurant and decided to go next door and try a taste of some home– made candies once we entered their store and was treated great, we decided to try the Modjeskas caramel and marshmallows and thought it was the BEST caramel taste ever, and very very fresh !!! Bought a 1# box and am now going to order a much bigger box cause when I got home everyone tried them and Loved them and ate them all. Keep up the GREAT job! Ernie Powers and Family 11-3-2012

Modjeska’s! They are Fantastic Chocolate Covered Caramel Marshmallow Bites. Some of my favorite chocolates ever… The dark chocolate is of superior quality, it reminds of Parisian Chocolatiers. Just down the street from downtown Louisville. Supposedly, they will have a website that you can order from up soon.

We stumbled across Muths, a little mom & pop place in the middle of a trendy neighborhood. But it has a long history, the person I talked to had worked there since 1960. They make their own caramel & licorice — who does that anymore? Sweet place, literally.

This historic(since 1921) store was here the first time around for East Market Street. Now that this area is back on top I’d love to see Muth’s get a bit of an update but nevermind all that – this place is the real deal for local candy. Long live Muth’s.

The peanut brittle is ohh soo delicious! Can’t leave here without some or without some chocolate, or chocolate covered vanilla caramels. My kids LOVE the Modjeskas — to the point where every year they get sent a bag from my sister. A Louisville landmark its always a great place to stop for some good sweets.

½/08: First Friday trolley hop, we were walking around Market Street checking out the handful of art galleries that were open when we ran across this candy confectionery. I first noticed it when we were circling the neighborhood for a parking space, it was packed with patrons and certainly caught my attention. When you walk in, you sense the history that this store has played, at the entry right, there are news clipping that talk about its history. We picked up a small box of their bourbon dark chocolates and small bag of dark chocolate covered raisins — both were delicious and well made/presented.
