I’ve eaten here twice and picked up catering three times. I’m a huge fan of BBQ and this isn’t my favorite BBQ but their food is good, their service excellent, and they always deliver on exactly what they said they’d provide. They have excellent pre-planned catered«picnics» and if I had a brain in my head I’d use them but they come with food my friends and I don’t eat but invariably I forget the food we DO eat(last night we didn’t have buns, hon) and so I’d rather bring an uneaten pie to the homeless than to not have bread for a much anticipated brisket sandwich. I’ve always been very happy with their catering and dining is better than average for a chain restaurant.

I’ve only been here twice but both times I was somewhat disappointed. The food is surprisingly ordinary and both times were were here the service was slow, prone to mistakes and several times we had to track down our service who would forget us or forget to bring ordered items. Food was not served together so some people in our group were finished eating while others were just getting their meals. Drinks were not refilled unless we asked. Finally at the end of the meal after we informed the waitress we were ready for our check we waited another 20 minutes and then had to go find her and ask again. Then it took another 15 minutes for her to bring back the check for us to sign it. Now I remember why I go elsewhere, there are several better BBQ joints within about 20 minutes of here. All they really have going of for it is a nice covered patio.

Went here while visiting my family. Went with a large ground including babies and the service was pretty good, respectively. I had the number one rib combo and it was all pretty good. After thoughts, I wish I would have gotten a smaller meal so I could have tried the butter milk pie

Stopped by with my husband and I am so glad we did! Bree our waitress was awesome! We ordered fried pickles, ribs, brisket, corn on the cob, fries, and pasta salad. Everything was delicious!!! The ribs are perfect fall off the bone. I loved the red BBQ sauce! Since it was our first time we hot free dessert and the caramel crunch sundae was out of this world. I’m still thinking about it!!! Everything from food to service was great! I would highly recommend especially people with dogs. The outside patio is perfect to hang with your pup!

The toast that came with the bbq was to die for, but the meat was a little dry. Nothing some barbecue sauce couldn’t fix!

Stopped in for late lunch. I was seated right away. My server was very friendly and took my order right away. I never had to ask for a drink refill. I ordered the Salmon burger which was a first for me. The meal was hot, prepared correctly and served very quickly. The Salmon burger was good but the hit was the sweet potato fires, they were awesome.

Food came out all cold. It did not taste good either. I think the corn had potential and probably would’ve tasted good if it was hot. Who Wants to eat cold meat or cold corn? Service was only a two star as well kept having to ask for things that he forgot. You know like silverware napkins and butter. I remained kind but was pretty upset inside. Spent a lot of money for cold sub-par food. And bad service. Also the scripture on the menu confused me. They serve beer. Maybe you should have chosen a different proverbs. How about this one… Pro 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

To be voted louisville’s best ribs, they weren’t very impressive. Taste was good, but had to pry them apart with knife and fork. The salmon burger left a lot to be desired as well, last time I checked a salmon steak was not round. .it reminded me of the dreaded chicken pattys from high school lunch. The baked potato was hard as a rock and not hot enough to even melt the butter. Baked beans were by far the best thing we had. First and last time here.

I was thoroughly impressed by my experience at Mark’s. I am not a Louisville native, but have heard a lot of good things about this place. I have attempted to go the Middletown location several times, but never the shoehorn and grease needed to get in there. The Fern Creek location was perfect! I have eaten barbeque around the nation from Black’s in Texas to Rendezvous in Memphis. Mark’s ribs match any that I’ve had in Memphis and are the best in Louisville. The pulled pork was subtle. I appreciate that Mark’s doesn’t hide behind sauces or rubs. The pork was just simply well smoked. I would say it is second best in Louisville, though it is extremely close to #1. I have a tour that I give to visiting friends and family, and Mark’s will now be on that tour. By the way, ask to be seated in Laura’s section. I have rarely had a more attentive server. And she was sweet and informative too. The atmosphere, from décor to music to serving utensils, was what one would expect of any good bbq joint. There was literally a bearded fella in over alls sitting at the bar!!! My wife and I will be eating here again!

I have been to Marks many times before, as I’m sure that most of us who grew up in Louisville have, but I am just now reviewing it for some reason. Marks is consistently good. I like everything on the menu but the true standout for me are the Honey Wings. They are a little bit spicy, a little bit sweet, and a whole lotta delicious! The price point is just right and Marks certainly doesn’t skimp on portions so I always have leftovers. Also of note, the Marks in Fern Creek has a buffet on Sunday from 11:00 — 3:00. Although the buffet doesn’t contain my beloved Honey Wings, many of Marks other favorites are on the bill including the brisket, pork, and lemon pepper catfish. In short, if you haven’t been to Marks yet just go!

Huge portions, really great sides, terribly crappy service. I feel that you definitely get a lot of food for your money at Mark’s. A half order of onion straws is about the size of a full order at many other restaurants. If you get the fish sandwich, you get enough fish to make three or four sandwiches. And the food tastes good, to boot. I’m not a huge fan of the barbecue, but I’m not a barbecue person. As long as the chicken tenders aren’t overdone, they’re my preferred entrée(because of their method of preparation, that can seem a little tough or dry at times.) the sides are where it’s at, though. Mark’s makes the only red skin potato salad I like, and I LOVE theirs. The spicy fries, green beans, fried corn on the cob, and onion straws are all great, too. However the service can totally suck. Oh my gosh. Carry out orders take about twice as long as the estimate they give, which is bad if you’re picking up lunch at work. My last visit, I was told the order would take 15 – 20 minutes. I showed up in 10 because I was close by. There were only three other customers there, as it was an off time. I paid for my order and waited at the bar. 20 minutes passed, no food. When I asked about it, someone said they were finishing it up. After a total of 40 minutes from the time I called in my order, I got my food and asked for a manager. Wait times are always bad, but this was insane. He proceeded to tell me «well if you had showed up on time, you would have had your food. But you were late and we threw it out and started over, so all your fried stuff would be fresh.» Bull crap. I told him that I was actually there early, and he tried to call me a liar. Even though all his hostesses and waitstaff could vouch for me. They obviously made a mistake and were trying to cover for it. I figure they either lost my order and had to stall to finish it, or they finished it and it was ready *while I was standing there*, threw it out for some unknown reason and remade it. The guy was a huge jerk, and his staff seemed to know it, since the servers were just standing there looking half apologetic, half afraid. So if you’re super hungry and like this kind of food, go to Mark’s. But you’re going to have a long wait for your food, and God help you if you run into any problems and need assistance from a manager.

As I sit here, anticipating the words that will flow from my brain to my fingertips, from my fingertips to the keyboard, and from the keyboard to Unilocal… a gentle flatulent sneaks its way into the air. The aroma of Mark’s hot BBQ sauce fills this corner of my living room. Suddenly, I’m back at my table, feasting on what was my Sunday afternoon dinner. Pulled pork and beef brisket, with a side of chicken pasta and mashed potatoes. The pork is average. The brisket was slightly below average. Hence the BBQ sauce flavored poot. The meat needed help. The fish, however, is spectacular. The chicken pasta is wonderful. The buttermilk pie is hard to beat. This should be a solid indication to you — the Louisville BBQ scene is marginal. Mark’s is some of the best that Louisville has to offer. Avoid the cue. Get the fish. Pay your bill. Everybody wins.

I didn’t realize when they list a «nest» of onion straws that you actually get a pile about the size of an actual bird’s nest! The honey chicken wings are absolutely fantastic! My husband thought his brisket was too dry but they did replace it immediately with ribs when he mentioned it. The ribs were what he should have ordered in the first place! It was actually a little hard to eat them as a knife wasn’t needed and the only reason you need a fork is to scoop up what’s slid off the bone. For the price, you get a lot of really good food and quick, polite service. This is the second Mark’s I’ve been to and they were both great places for lunch and dinner. I have to say that both places had excellent staff and I’m thinking they are known for that judging from friends and co-workers of mine who recommended Mark’s.

We hit this joint at least once a month. The pulled pork is semi dry, which is the way if like it. The green beans are excellent, but the real treat is the crazy good pasta salad. We actually take a side order home every trip. Beer selection is pretty pedestrian. Stick with the classic sweet tea.

It could be southern hospitality but great food and service is more. And at Marks Feed and Grain more was returning after a wonderful dinner the next day for lunch. Great ribs with lots of tender meat falling off the bone, the crispest, sweetest honey soaked chickens wings ever, causing Brain Palate disfunction that only ended when my full light came on. The pulled pork was tender but the Brisket was a tad dry. Mark also provides 3 bottles of there BBQ sauces at the table, 1 mustard based and 2 reds, 1 sweeter and less spicy than the other I did bath my ribs in the former. I would have given Marks a 5 except for the Brisket, awesome baked beans and green beans, 5 on service, 5 for management attention to customers, 5 complimentary bottle of sauce, did I mention that there hot fudge Sunday was a 5 as well, what the hell I’m changing my rating to 5 from 47⁄8.

Love this location. The outdoor seating area is great! Service was good & the food was delicious. Got the Chicken Bar-B-Q dinner with sweet potato fries & a side salad. The portion was huge so I had enough for two meals. Pretty good deal for $ 10.49. Love the spicy barbecue sauce. Will definitely be back.

I went for the buttermilk pie, and it did not disappoint. I had been to Mark’s a few years ago, and loved that pie. Even tried to duplicate it at home, and came pretty close. But my namesake restaurant does it best. Stopped by with Sweetie while on the way home, and got there long enough before closing to enjoy a light meal. Well, I enjoyed the pie, and she liked her brisket sandwich. I was disappointed in my pulled pork sandwich– very bland and dry meat, not even improved much with a dousing of assorted sauces. Still, the pie made up for it, and I should have stuck with my standard ribs. Service was good, price was fair, and if I’m in the area again I’ll definitely be back.

I live in the Fern Creek area but have visited the other Mark’s Feed store locations as well. This one is by far the biggest location of all of them! Also, this is the only Mark’s Feed Store currently that has a buffet option every other Sunday. It’s like $ 15 for pretty much everything on the menu(except ribs) and for things NOT on the menu. I go for some of those things not normally on the menu specifically at times. Try the buffet– it’s so good! Also– the place is big, it’s very clean, and the location has enough parking. This location also currently added some tv’s in one part of the dining room nearest the carryout/bar area. Also– I went once for lunch and was happy that they did have really cheap quick lunch specials. This location is just about 2 minutes from the Gene Snyder exit(Exit 17) and about 15 minutes from the Watterson Exit(Bardstown Rd)

Waitress was one of the best I’ve had anywhere… Really good. However, I asked if hamburgers were handmade with real hamburger patties and she said yes. They are not… They are bubba burger style hamburgers… The sauces are ok and the ranch dipping sauce is fantastic. I had a brisket sandwich which was ok but too salty(dripping sauce on it probably responsible), the real negative was the portion size was too small for $ 10. The meat barely exposed itself from the bread. Homemade Chips were good but over seasoned. I also had the potato salad, which was made with red potatoes(which I dont care for). Drink portions are very large which is good for me. Desert sundae tasted good but was also small in portion. 2 drinks, cheeseburger, brisket sandwich with two sides and a sundae was $ 23 without tip. $ 30 with. Place was packed pretty well, so people like it.
