Whom ever gave this 4 stars has really let this Unilocal user down. Sat down to be told breakfast buffet only. That had dried out sausage burnt potatoes rubber ravioli and what appeared to be GFS pastries. After server notice we were not eating what we had selected from buffet slapped us a bill. As we wait for the change we watch what appears to a hostess finish her breakfast walk to counter with bare hands that were not washed restock pastries plate Done wasting my money on what Unilocal tells me is a 4 star.

I got here at 9:30 on a Saturday and was the only customer which left me feeling a little uneasy. However, after the rest of my party arrived, the place slowly started filling up. I was offered coffee right away and it was ok, I will probably get tea next time. They had a huge tea selection so I was semi jealous of my mom and aunt. They give you a mug with hot water and a separate steeper so you can have multiple cups and it allows the leaves to give off their full flavor. Anyways, the food was pretty good. Nothing super over the top, but still tasty. I had their Main Street Morning with scrambled eggs and sorghum bacon(YUM!) and a biscuit. It came with their«hashbrowns» but I would probably have called them skillet potatoes, whatever you call them, they were quite good. The service was excellent, very attentive and helpful(making sure I didn’t pay unnecessarily for a meter on Saturday when I didn’t have to). It had a very warm and inviting atmosphere, cozy little fire place in the corner, which was nice with the freezing temperatures outside. Would probably come back here if I’m around the area again.

I’m surprised this place wasn’t busier. I met a colleague for breakfast on a Friday morning before work. The coffee is really good and strong. The servers were nice. I like the menu selection, with the option to get farm-fresh eggs(which I assumed were local and organic). I had the arepas and eggs. I didn’t read the menu closely, so ended up eating chorizo(although I typically avoid meat products), but it was a delicious dish.

The sorghum bacon. The grits. The grilled cheese, which along with cheese includes ham, pesto and tomato jam. These are a few of my favorite things at Main Street Café. I started going there for the brunch. It’s a favorite of a close friend of mine. And I have since grown to enjoy its lunch offerings as well. It’s easily accessible downtown with ample street parking. It’s clean, and I like its overall relaxed atmosphere. And the dishes are served rather quickly. And did I mention the food? No complaints there. Main Street Café will brighten your day whether it’s one of your first stops or a lunch stop in the middle.

Loved this place! Nicely decorated with a pretty patio for outdoor dining. Cappuccino was delicious and the food was great. I liked the idea of the DIY omelette in that you can choose anything on the menu to add to your omelette. It was a little pricey but not to bad. I would go back!

Late was excellent. Foamy and sweet. Perfect amount of Carmel. Hash-browns were well seasoned and full of flavor. Eggs were fantastically fluffy and well portioned. Rye bread was soft and dark. Best I’ve ever had. Ham was salty and cooked well. Even the water was great. Tasteless, just the way it should be. If I were passing through again, I would go back. Service was fenominal. Overall the portions were big, which is good. The environment is second to none. Best wishes to Main Street Café — a restaurant to be reckoned with.

Sometimes the service has been a bit … off. But the Food here — is top notch. LOVE the selection of breads, the creative sandwiches, soups(Try the Red Rice and Chicken. Seriously!) and salads. Breakfast during lunch? No problem. Even mix items from the two menus. I’m not a huge ‘chip’ fan when I go out to eat, but these ‘hand made’ wonders are tasty and plentiful. GREAT stop if you’re downtown — and maybe even worth a deliberate drive. Realize that it is not huge, and seating can get a bit crowded during the work week at times.

When Main Street Café first opened as Main Street Coffee and Deli it was amazing. Its relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, devoted owner, and amazing food drew me to eat there nearly every day while the restaurant was in its infancy. In fact, I was the first to review Main Street Coffee and Deli on Unilocal when they opened and had a ROTD for that review. However, due to a change in work location I stopped being able to visit with as much frequency and hadn’t been to the restaurant in about 9 months when I walked in today. Upon entering today the first thing I noticed, other than the new name, was a total change in atmosphere. The relaxed deli that I remembered was suddenly an upscale sit down restaurant complete with a pretentious host. When I asked the host if I could redeem the value that I had paid(note not the promotional value) for an expired Groupon per Groupons policy which says«the amount paid does not expire until it is used or refunded» he looked at me like I was asking for a free meal and asked me to step aside so he could assist a few nicely dressed ladies in fur coats. He then tried to hook up some kind of Groupon scanner and when it would not work he told me to either come back some other day or have Groupon refund my money. I asked if there was any other way to redeem it as many other businesses take Groupons without a special scanner and he insisted that there wasn’t. I ended up leaving without eating because I was so frustrated. I went and had lunch elsewhere. Between the host making me feel so unvalued as a customer and just plain embarrassed and the restaurant’s total change in atmosphere I doubt I’ll return. It’s a shame too because I loved Main Street Coffee and Deli. Main Street Café just isn’t the same. Update: I contacted Groupon and they reached out to Main Street Café to try to clear up their confusion regarding accepting the amount paid, not promotional value, for the expired Groupon. However, Main Street Café still would not honor my Groupon so I received a refund from Groupon. I’m relieved that I got a refund from Groupon, but I’m sorry to see this restaurant’s customer service decline so far in such a short amount of time.

I have only ordered from the delivery menu but what I have gotten was very good. I have tried the B.A.T.S. sandwich, housemade spicey chips and the chocolate rye pudding cake all were very good. Glad to know that they do try to get most of their ingredients from local farms. I would like to try the dine in some time.

Oh hot damn, this(place) is my jam. Outside, Main Street Coffee & Deli is unassuming. Sure, it looks like a nice, modern place(with a great patio) where you can grab a cup o’ joe and a sandwich. But inside, oh inside, you’ll find a host of really delicious items. Like… 1) The Grilled Cheese: More so a ham and cheese, this positively delectable sandwich comes with all the special trimming that I love but would never actually put together at home. Perfectly grilled bread, cheeses, thinly sliced ham, tomato jam, pesto… it is one fantastic sandwich. 2) Couscous: Really interesting, a bit salty, but über fresh and filled with herbs and pine nuts. A great side item for any sandwich, fo sho. 3) House made chips: Paprika, crispity goodness. I like chips, I typically don’t *love* chips. And I loved these. 4) Friendly employees: Helpful and laid back, these folks seemed just pleased as punch to be there and serve some smiley customers. 5) A boudoir photo of George Costanza in the lounge area. Need I say more?!

Main Street Coffee and Deli needed little more than a framed photo of a scantily clad George Costanza hanging on the wall to seduce me, but they didn’t stop there. No, they had to also serve an array of delicious soups, sandwiches and salads – even pasta and couscous salads as well. B.A.T.S.(Bacon, Avocado, Tomato and Serrano Pickles on Sourdough bread) forever raised my expectations for lunch at a coffee shop. Aside: I write this review with a strong disdain for over toasted bread-heavy paninis in mind. Sliced bread of just the right thickness with a touch of butter and creamy smashed avocadoes inside gave new life to what is usually, for me, an annoyingly crunchy staple, the BLT. I cannot begin to count how many times I have wished for an exhaustive and creative variety of lunch menu options while at a coffee shop; this is the place I’ve always imagined existing and it turns out that it does in another form besides Panera. Score! If only this place could have snagged Panera’s place on Bardstown Road, I’d be even happier. Maybe a second location is in order? Who’s with me?! Until then, memories of the B.A.T.S. sandwich complete with house-made chips and a pickle will keep luring me downtown.

My friend and I were walking all day, exploring the city of Louisville. We were so hungry, but wanted to eat somewhere good. We happened to pass buy here and thought it looked like a nice place to stop in. We were so glad we did. We talked about this being one of the best places we had eaten at while we were in town. And it was the least expensive meal also. I had the grilled cheese, without the ham, and the tomato jam was so good. I also had carrot soup and pasta salad, and homemade chips. Delicious! My friend had a BB&T with asparagus soup and she loved it too. Everyone was so friendly there, we had a great experience. I only wish I didn’t live in PA so I could visit more often!

All I had was the Mocha Shake, but it was fantastic. The staff were also uncommonly friendly and helpful. It was also mentioned that there was over 30 years of barista experience amongst them, which is pretty darned impressive, because you could really tell they know what they’re doing. Overall it was a great experience and I will go back again VERY soon.

I first came here when they opened, the debit card system was broke, and the kitchen was slow. It doesn’t even resemble the same place any more. The kitchen has gotten a lot faster. I respect the owner, he works his own restaurant and if you ask him a question he will answer it. I’m a coffee snob, and I spent a lot of time talking to him and his baristas about where they get there coffee the roast grade. Why they don’t pull single baskets of espresso and so on. The coffee is good, no slow bar thou, and it is drip coffee, but its good and the guise behind the bar can pull a good shot of espresso. The owner is working on improving his chi latte; it’s a thin for my taste. The food is great. I recommend the fried chicken biscuit, the Cuban sandwich, grilled cheese and the salads. The place never disappoints. When I walked in today the baristas were being tested on drinks while the coffee rep talked about tamping, basket distribution and pulling shots. The greatest part of this place is it’s new and young; it’s ever improving and growing. I look forward to seeing what it will become.
