Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken

I’m a fan. Specifically of this Lee’s, which by my estimation, is the best one in the area, and I’ve tried a few. Not better than the one in Bardstown, KY but props for this location’s buffet table which is rare for a Lee’s, and rarer still that I think their buffet is decent. You can even ask for items not on the table, like chicken livers, gizzards or their spicy chicken dippers.
The girls working behind the counter are always friendly, and the chicken is good, better than KFC if that’s how you measure your fast food chicken. The two restaurants’ histories are closely intertwined though, so don’t expect something too different.

It isn’t KFC, but it isn’t bad either. In fact, it’s probably the next best thing to KFC as fast food fried chicken goes. They have original and crispy (sound familiar?), and a plethora of sides to go with it. Just as with that other brand, the options are about what you’d expect.
The chicken was moist, flavorful, and a bit greasy. Even after a few minutes (10 – 15), the juiciness stayed inside the chicken, not on the plate. Pretty decent of any chicken joint, if you ask me. The coleslaw looked familiar, but was more vinegary than sweet, but a good balance. A little too creamy, but that’s my opinion. The potato wedges were flimsy, soggy, and almost greasy; not their best option.
They had a buffet, as well! Wish I’d known that going into the place, as I was expecting just a standard run-​of-​the-​mill menu. The prices are comparable, though the buffet is probably the best deal at $ 7.49 for adults (which includes a beverage). They also had options there that weren’t on the menu, such as Brussels sprots and hominy.
All in all, it was a decent experience, and I would definitely go back. The staff was friendly, and all the tables were recently cleaned, so that was a nice touch. It might be part of a much larger chain, or it might not be, it’s hard to tell. It’s solid food, though, exactly the quality you’d expect, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Good value for the money.
