I had elevated hopes and expectations for this place as Palermo Viejo, which used to occupy this location was on a ultra light beam. I just really wanted the new place in the old space to do it’s predacessor justice. Cocktails were decently inventive, well priced and strong. Beer list is kinda soft for real, however not enough of a downer to warrant any negative marks. We started with the creamy lobster and artichoke gratin with grilled baguettes. Which was a mindblower in the flavor department. For mains we went with the wood grilled elk tenderloin with a raspberry-gin sauce and the Wagyu flank steak with herbed fries. Couldn’t have been more pleased with the quality and presentation. This place is mille neuf cent quatre-vingt-dix-huit Jordan game six level. Make the trip.

I went to La Chasse a while back with a friend and I am looking forward to going again to try something new. All the staff was friendly, attentive, and efficient. We started off with a strong cocktail, I believe it was a Boulevardier, which I’ve made at home many times, and their’s was much better. Apparently I need to find a different combination. I might need to compliment the bartender emphatically and see if they’ll give me a hint. For an appetizer we shared the Creamy lobster artichoke gratin and grilled baguettes($ 14.00) it was very rich and creamy, but I had wished it had a little something more, maybe spice or salt. We’ll definitely try a different appetizer next time. For salad I had the Watercress($ 9.00), their house made dressing was delicious. Some kind of herbed yogurt. I forgot to take a photo. On this particular evening they had a Duck Confit special with butternut squash and Enokitake/Enoki mushroom, fingerling potato, and a rich flavorful cream sauce. Exquisite. Positively exquisite. We ended the evening with a lower octane cocktail, but I can’t recall the name of it. I do remember that it very citrusy, light, and bright. Their mixologist is amazing, if you enjoy cocktails, you have to try at least one.

I went to La Chasse last night and my mouth is still watering. We had the carnitas for starters. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside garnished with fresh herbs and a delicious coconut sauce. I had the chicken Marsala as my main course. Mm, the mushroom sauce was fantastic. I washed it all down with a couple of bourbon cocktails expertly crafted by the fabulous Isaac Fox and left a very happy patron. The staff is friendly and attentive, the food is amazing, and the atmosphere is lovely. It’s my go to place for date night and I can’t wait to go back!

My husband suggested La Chasse for a date night so we tried it out last night. I had eaten at the restaurant that previously occupied the space several times and was immediately struck by how nice La Chasse had redone the bar area. It made the restaurant look upscale and inviting. We were greeted warmly as we entered and seated immediately. We had a reservation but it wasn’t too busy for a Thursday night(granted it was cold and dreary). We were served bread with oil as soon as we sat down. It was Bluedog bread which meant it was delicious. Our server was attentive, helpful, and warm. The menu is full of items you likely won’t see many other places in town from Caviar and Shrimp Deviled Eggs to Fried Rabbit. I had heard their cheese boards were good and since I’m a sucker for cheese boards, I had to try one. It came with four different cheeses, fruit compote, nuts, and toasted bread. It was delicious. I also got the«Ancho Chile braised Carnitas with grapefruit tarragon gastrique and coconut crème fraîche.» I can’t even describe how good this was. It was pork that had almost been flash fried(without breading) and had a slight chili taste. It was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It was one of the best appetizers I’ve ever had. Those two items were more than enough for me for dinner. My husband got salmon which I can’t speak to because I hate salmon but he said it was really good. La Chasse has an impressive cocktail, wine, and beer list. I got a glass of cab sav from California that was very good and my husband got a Bourbon cocktail that tasted similar to an Old Fashion. We didn’t get dessert because we were too full but the options sounded wonderful. Our bill was around $ 80 which included an entrée, cheese board, appetizer, and two drinks. Entrees range from around $ 20 – 35 and appetizers are around $ 10. The cheese board was $ 15. For a nice date night out, I thought it was totally worth the bill. I would recommend checking it out!

Going to La Chasse is like being transported to a rustic French restaurant without leaving the Highlands. We made our first visit here recently and were immediately struck by the cozy interior. It’s not a large space, but it feels warm and inviting, with a window into the kitchen. And they’re doing some great things in there. The menu offers things like caviar and foie gras and fried rabbit, but it’s also accessible. I ordered the citrus glazed salmon on advice of our server and was very pleased with the choice. The salmon was very flavorful and came atop a delicious risotto and was accompanied by asparagus grilled to perfection. My wife got a cheese board, which was big enough for both of us to pick at and still have much left over, and the chile-braised carnitas appetizer, which was out of this world. Service was impeccable. Friendly and fast, as our food came out surprisingly quick(it wasn’t busy on a cold Thursday night). Our server also refreshed our basket of Blue Dog bread, which made for a tasty side. There’s also an expansive wine and cocktail list. I got the Bourbon View Carre, which had bourbon and Cognac and was delicious. They also have a small but well curated craft beer selection. La Chasse isn’t cheap — my salmon entrée was $ 27, which is a bit on the high end side, and other entrees surpassed $ 30. But for a nice night out and a great meal, it is definitely worth a visit.

I just tried a delicious dessert from this restaurant. I had the Spiced bourbon custard topped with salted caramel and garnished with walnut crumble. It was a very delicious dish and a real delight since I am a huge fan of caramel. I was curious how strong the bourbon taste would be but I was very pleased with the subtleness of the bourbon while still retaining the caramel and custard flavors. I would definitely have this again! For the coffee lovers, I tried a bite of the dark chocolate mousse topped with coffee whipped cream. I love coffee so this dish satisfied that craving. Excellent choice as well! I can’t wait to purchase an entrée the next time. This is a great spot for a dinner, the ambiance is good– not too bright and the music isn’t noisy. Instead you get a cozy French feel and great service. The owner goes out of his way to serve his clients and I will definitely be back!

Some restaurants make me forget my manners — like taking pictures of my food so that fellow Unilocalers can enjoy the experience vicariously. La Chasse is just one such restaurant. On a balmy weekend evening, I dined here recently with friends for the first time, and it is one of the new Louisville establishments that is definitely worth a visit. The setting is cozy, with exposed brick walls painted in a light gray hue, and tasteful art and wall décor appropriately spaced throughout. Upon entering the restaurant, the bar is immediately to the left. With tall, comfortable bar stools, it’s the perfect place to meet and wait for your table and catch up over a glass of the house wine. At our table, we were greeted promptly by a knowledgeable server, who explained the house special for the evening(boar). The meal started with a round of the deviled eggs with caviar. It was a unique blend of fresh shrimp, creamy deviled filling, and just a touch of briney caviar on top of each. For my entrée, I had a difficult time deciding between the boar, the rabbit, and the cod. The rabbit finally won out, and when it arrived, it did not disappoint. Artfully presented with a touch of the citrus braised fennel on top, it was tender inside and cooked with just a slight crisp on the outside. I was also lucky enough to get to try a bite of the Wagyu, which was perfectly cooked and topped with what tasted like a creamy horseradish sauce. No meal would be complete without dessert, and — if for nothing else — you should definitely visit for the spiced bourbon cream with salted caramel topping. Something of a cross between a spicy crème brûlée and a bowlful of caramel sauce, it’s a dish that I would swing back in for anytime. It was tempting to lick the dish clean, but by that point I had remembered at least some of my manners! Equal parts classy, inviting, and warm, La Chasse will meet your every expectation of a great night out!

I eat out a lot. I like to find restaurants that have a nice bar — great bartenders and an atmosphere conducive to eating alone. I like to eat alone(I don’t always eat alone-i just enjoy it) The bar is welcoming — I am am always greeted immediately and feel like I just walked in to my own home. Isaac is so hospitable and has such a way of explaining the specials. The mussels are A MUST — the sauce you could eat like soup, I dab the bread. Definitely check it out, have a sazerac(they know how to make them right) and enjoy!

La Chasse is a cozy little French & Spanish bistro style restaurant located off of Bardstown Rd. The atmosphere is classy and intimate– definitely not a place you want to show up to in sweats or jeans and a t-shirt. It is dimly lit and the interior of the restaurant is dark. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and continually checked on us to make sure we were satisfied and never left wanting anything– for me that tends to be a refill of water every 10 minutes– but my glass was never empty! They start you out with bread and a garlic olive oil that is absolutely divine. The bread itself is light and airy on the inside but crusty and hard on the outside. For an appetizer we ordered the foe gras that sat on top of brandy braised pears and bruschetta and was drizzled with a vinaigrette of some sorts(I have forgotten what kind…). It was the perfect combination of fat, sweet, and acid that left you wanting more. I also ordered the brussels sprout salad that was composed of crispy chorizo, shallots, marcona almonds, and a sherry vinaigrette. It was tasty, but, I found the brussels sprouts to be to large which made it hard to eat and they had the texture and wetness of blanched brussels sprouts which I find to not be the best. Don’t get me wrong, I would still get it again and if you are a brussels sprouts fan you are bound to love this dish, I just think it would be better if they were more bite-sized and prepared in another fashion. We both ordered the wagyu flank steak with fries for our entrees. The steak was cooked perfectly and the salad it sat on and vinaigrette was the perfect compliment to the flavor of the meat. The fries also tastes great– crispy and crunch on the outside and topped with grated Parmesan(how can cheese ever be a bad thing?). I definitely intend on coming back and if you are considering coming here you will not be disappointed if you make the decision to go. Do it!

I highly recommend this lovely new restaurant. It’s a great place for an intimate dinner date or to catch up with friends. We started with the foie gras and the appetizer special. The foie gras is wood-grilled with a pear compote served with a baguette. It was so decadent! I felt like royalty eating something so divine. The appetizer special was a brie-like cheese wrapped in a puff pastry with a fig-pear spread served with baguettes. Another great appetizer. This was a definite sharable appetizer, whereas the foie gras serves one. Major, major kudos to the chef. We had seen photos of the braised venison shank on social media, and my husband really wanted to try it. Unfortunately, they were doing a special menu that did not include the venison. Our waiter was able to ask the chef if he could make an exception for the venison, and he did! It was well worth asking the chef! I don’t even like venison because it’s a very gamey meat, but this was simply ah-mazing. The meat was so tender and came off the bone so easily. His preparation of the venison has made me think twice about eating it(in a good way). I had the maple glazed salmon with butternut squash risotto, broccolini, and crispy shallots. So rich and buttery! We chose the chocolate raspberry cake for dessert, which was the special. Such a great way to end such perfect dinner service. Highly recommend La Chasse!

I was thrilled to see familiar faces here… a friendly staff and cool vibe greeted me when I went to investigate this new eatery in my neighborhood. I sat at the dark, woodsy bar by my lonesome and ordered something sparkling to drink… I quickly gravitated to the lobster artichoke appetizer. It arrived in a darling oven-proof dish, hot and bubbly in a creamy and delicate sauce, dripping and gooey! Generous slices of slightly crispy bread accompanied this masterpiece of comfort food and gourmet taste combined… I could have licked the plate. I had to leave in a hurry for an appointment, but next time I will try a main entrée. They had a rabbit dish that looked very, very good. The bartender explained they do a drink special each week and that is something I will also check out. I saw the sign out front yesterday featuring a truffle-infused bourbon cocktail… wow! Lots of creativity here and that lobster appetizer is my new craving. Classy, romantic and eclectic, a nice addition to The Highlands. Welcome!

On first blush this place has so much going for it: great ambiance(someone has but substantial capital into this place, and its metamorphosis from Palermo is visually impressive), competent service, good crowd, excellent location, etc. What held a lot of promise, however, ultimately fell a little flat in terms of the food itself. The octopus carpaccio was quite oily/salty and unevenly cut, the salmon was a little overcooked, and the scallop dish had a number of ingredients that didn’t seem to fully belong together. It wasn’t terrible, and it was all quite well presented, but again, it was all just a little disappointing. I’ll be interested in returning to see what it’s like after having been in operation for a while and having worked out a few possible kinks.

This is a great new restaurant! Pretty chill — some French music fitting with the restaurant’s theme calmly met with some Norah Jones to set the mood. The cocktail list has some solid originals; we tried the Maple Old Fashioned and l’espirit de Normandie… Both of which were delightfully little drinks. The richness that you expect was in full force, which would be a negative anywhere but a French restaurant. I tried the Elk Bourguignon after a creamy lobster artichoke gratin appetizer; everything was excellent down to the spicy pickled carrots, which is saying something since I’m definitely not a carrot person. My lovely date thoroughly enjoyed the wood grilled salmon. Im obligated to mention that there’s no mac and cheese dish here, but even I didn’t think twice about it at the time… the risotto fills the void as well as anything should in European style. The newness should wear off soon… The new staff may be a bit over eager so our date night banter was frequently interrupted by a handful of people who wanted to know how we were doing, but everyone was so nice about it and it meant that my water glass was never less than half full, it’s hard to really fault anyone. Keep it up!

I was lucky enough to try this place during my birthday week with bestie. We both enjoy trying new places and also like the occasional fancy dinner. ;) We started with a bottle of a french white wine(i cannot remember the name) that was on the lower end of the bottle pricing, around $ 40. It was a tasty, middle of the road, crisp wine. We loved the herb infused dipping oil that they brought out with the bread. Yum! We decided to try the baked camembert as a starter. It was creamy and went nicely with the jam/chutney that was on top of it. A very generous portion of cheese, for sure! I decided to get a salad before dinner because whenever I see a poached egg on a bed of greens… I go for it! This one also had some petite fried potatoes and crispy shallots as well. It tasted great. The portion was larger than I expected which was fine by me. My friend ordered the salmon. It came with some mushroom risotto and broccolini. She thoroughly enjoyed it all. I decided to get a couple of sides, since I was starting to feel full but wanted to keep trying new things. Also, they do not have a vegetarian entrée on the menu(maybe they will fix that sooner than later). I asked for some broccolini, sautéed mushrooms, and some fries. All of these items were part of other dishes so I figured it would be an easy makeshift plate and also make me happy! Yep! All were to my liking, though I could not finish the fries because the portion was huge! It would have been perfect for sharing. We had to get dessert since I was celebrating my birthday. :) We went with the special: a poached pear stuffed with chocolate mousse and covered in a chocolate ganache, served alongside some berry glaze/drizzle and candied pecans(or was it walnuts-I cannot remember). It was decadent. The mousse was the best part and I wish I could have just ordered an entire bowl of that stuff! Overall it was a nicely prepared dessert. I want to go back here soon. There are a few other things that I would like to try. Our server was extremely friendly and gave us the right amount of attention. The atmosphere is very warm here. I miss Palermo, but am glad to have another quality spot there. They have refreshed the place a bit and rearranged the bar area. Go check this little french place out when you can. :)

This new restaurant has it together! Most impressive was the staff who stepped in to cover anything and everything. One was as good at the next and everyone did everything. It was a soft opening so we expected some missteps but there simply weren’t any. The closest we came was one misdirected salad but when we explained it wasn’t ours it was taken away with seamless precision. The food is simply perfect. We had a crab cake with an amazing aoli and a «dip» with langoustines and other incredibly good things as an appetizer. The least favorite part of the meal – but still great – was salads. One sounded like a breakfast dish with quail eggs, ham, cheese… and some greens and another was a little fruity but still good. For the main course we had the«bunny” – OK rabbit and it was the closest thing to a sophisticated fried chicken you could get. The fingerling potatoes and haricot vert were all done to perfection. The pork tenderloin was wrapped in pesto and presented with a couscous and perfectly done baby carrots. Dessert was a banana split on steroids. Just enough! Bread is a Blue Dog variety and uneventful until you douse it with the oil and spices that come as a package. You can tell that the creativity of chef Alexander Dulaney(formerly of Le Relais) has been unleashed. The wine list is thoughtful and reasonable. $ 36 for a bottle of Kim Crawford sauvignon blanc and lots of $ 10 and under reds by the glass. They also have a few beers on tap so no one goes thirsty. Cocktails by the owner and bartender, Isaac Fox formerly of Volare and Jack Fry’s are hit-the-spot perfect. The décor is simple and unobtrusive. Great paintings by Jeaneen Barnhart just to remind you that you are in Kentucky. It’s not inexpensive, but it’s worth the money. The bar is inviting and there is outdoor seating. I can envision lots of easy meals just at the bar. About 20 seats at the bar and another 20 tables. Well staffed with pros who seem to really care. Make a reservation.
