I have attempted to go into Kiddie Kastle a few times now to make purchases, and the owner/salesperson has quickly reminded me once again why I shouldn’t bother. I can get beyond the exorbitant prices. Buy local right? She has it listed all over the store so you don’t forget. I then expect an excellent shopping experience in return. What I got was someone who didn’t listen to a word coming out of my mouth, trying to up sell me within 30 seconds of describing my needs, and then insulted my choices AND my parenting. Just a note for others-you should have your kid in a full size bed by the time they are two(according to her). I tried to just focus on the products so I could get something accomplished, but when someone won’t stop saying Hard woods, make an investment, no one sleeps in twin beds(while the entire floor stock was twins? What?) every 30 seconds as if on repeat I soon gave up and ran for the hills. Never again.

My wife and I are both blind, so we asked the owner, Pam, for her help learning about baby furniture. The prices seem higher than we expected, but we attributed this to the store being local. When I began to take notes about the items that we liked and their prices, Pam got a very nasty tone with us and told us that she would remember for us what items we liked. Obviously she did not like that we were writing down her prices.(Sighted people can just read the tag and the owner would never know, but we were just asking for the same information.) When it became clear that we were not going to buy instantly, she sat in the back of the store on a glider and just raised her voice to answer questions from across the store. In spite of this, my wife returned. Good thing that I took notes, for Pam had no memory of my wife ever coming to the store. Despite our better judgment, too, we ordered a lamp and were told it would come in within five days. It has now been two weeks, it has been difficult to get on the phone with anybody who can check on it status, and we were just told the item might be on backorder but she won’t know for a few more days. As other reviewers have mentioned, we have received no communication from the store despite giving them a few hundred dollars of our money for other items and the lamp. We are initiating all calls, leaving voicemails, leaving messages, and still we can only get a response if we managed to catch Pam directly. This is a real shame, because the store has a history of being a fine business in the city. There is not much selection in town for baby furniture, so the store has so much potential. A lack of communication, in the store and after purchase, have left a very sour taste in our mouths.

Kiddie Kastle had a great selection of both baby and kid furniture and accessories. Pam was very helpful and the staff was very knowledgable about not only the products they carried, but also products that we might need for our baby. This is our first child and they were very helpful in making us feel comfortable with the purchases that we made. Kiddie Kastle is a must for louisville parents looking for quality furniture for their little ones!

Final Update: They sent out a furniture repair person to look at the damage. He came out looked, and left saying he would talk to the owner and someone would get back to us. No one ever did. I maintain that I would not recommend shopping here and certainly will not shop at the store again. I know several people having children and will make sure they stay far away from here.

Sadly, Kiddie Kastle in Louisville is not a local business that I will support again in the future. Our issues with this store and whether we would ever receive our furniture, quickly became a nightmare. I was 4 ½ months pregnant when we initially ordered the furniture and today our baby is 5 months old. As of today it has been 9 months since our initial order. Our initial furniture collection was out of stock(we found out by calling the store after waiting close to10 weeks, they never initiated this call), and we had to switch to a different collection. This new collection came in(one item at a time, lots of driving as we lived an hour away), however the nightstand was missing. Finally we were told she couldn’t get the nightstand and she tried to match it closely to a different collection(only she matched it to our first collection, not the actual furniture we have). Needless to say, it did not match. The store owner at this point was not willing to help anymore, and sent us a name of someone who could refinish this new nightstand, at our expense. Not to mention the nightstand that came in was a cheaper version of the furniture we were supposed to receive, but the owner was trying to charge us the same price as the more expensive collection. Is this how they repay customers that have been waiting 9 months? We felt that there was a true lack of concern for us from the store owner Pam & employee Diane, as we rarely received updates from them on our furniture status, nor did they ever take the time to return our phone calls. Toward the end while we were waiting on the nightstand, Pam the owner told me to «Relax and enjoy my baby… as the nightstands were not an intrical part of a baby nursery.» This coming from a furniture store owner? The condescending & negative attitudes from this store, toward myself and my husband has been most definitely the worst customer service experience, I have ever witnessed.

Small issues here and there. But, Pam came through for us at Kiddie Kastle. What could’ve been a nightmare was easily fixed and taken care of. I help out my sister a lot with her baby furnishings and related issues. Kiddie Kastle did right by us.
