We just happened by here after a late night bite at Barcode. Wow! In the darkness of night, and under the soft haze or the first quarter moon, this place is delightfully creepy! I’d love to come back again to see it by the light of day. I’m so glad we decided to take a moonlit stroll after dinner.

Just stop by to see it all and hopefully talk with him — Jerry is a really cool, interesting guy and he seems to just hang around waiting for people to stop by. He’ll talk to you about the different pieces that he has and how he got them — really fascinating! He also gave me an old horseshoe that was lying around. Don’t be shy — say hi!

On our family road trip we stopped in Louisville to see the sights. We decided to swing by this place and check it out. It is an amazing collection of «junk», carefully stacked and placed to created this appealing art for the eye. Jerry was there when we stopped and he gave us the full tour, telling us lots of history. He really has put his heart into this place and you can tell! He was an awesome guide through time. We spent over an hour looking and talking with him. When we were ready to go we all thanked him for sharing his time, art and words with us. He simply said” that’s what I am here for”.

I’m happy to give 5 stars to Jerry’s Junk. It’s name is as intriguing as its owner and it is just a house and yard with piles and piles of… well, junk. However, I have hoarders in my family and although you can’t even see a path through his yard, his collectibles are fascinating! Old toys, cars, sculptures and figures. Plus, you are just looking through his fence so this visit is completely free! We got the pleasure of talking with Jerry during our visit and he told us stories of the history of some of his items, and how he bargains for them. He even said American Pickers has been by a time or two. He said this was«just a hobby that got out of control.» Anyone in the area or even just passing through, this is worth a stop as you won’t find many of these items anywhere else in the world.

We in Louisville sure do seem to love stuff from the past. This is local flavor at it’s finest. This place is 5 stars and yes I’ll admit to being fascinated by a big pile of junk. I just personally find it hard to see relics from the past as junk. There’s something really nostalgic and romantic(not in the lovey sense of the word) about a huge collection of trinkets, statutes and signs from bygone days. I could just camp out front of this building and get lost in imagining stories of an era that no longer exists or where some of these doodads and treasures came from. ET inside a phone booth? Nixon’s face on the statue of Liberty?(read that story here: ) and a brick from the yellow brick road?! So random and so cool. Jerry’s probably got stories about all of ‘em and how he came across these items and if you’re lucky enough to catch him outside and in a good mood he’ll tell you about some of the stuff in his collection. The one thing he won’t tell you is a price; he’s not trying to sell this stuff. It’s all enclosed with a gate and locked up for a reason. He’s got no intentions of letting people inside usually… However, I used to work across the street and I heard a few travelers’ stories about their visit to Jerry’s Junk and that he surprisingly let them inside after he warmed up to them. Hmm, curious… While my parents were in town visiting a while back, I knew I’d have to show these Antique Roadshow fanatics Jerry’s Junk so we made a stop here on a bike ride. Jerry was sitting down outside and just hanging out guarding his«junk», but was kind enough to chat with us for a bit and even offered us some horeshoes from fillys at Churchill Downs! We weren’t allowed inside like I was hoping for, but what an awesome souvenir! Go check out all these unique knick-knacks for yourself and see what your unique Jerry’s Junk experience brings you.
